The seven or the bonebound... Made sense. Aran wondered if they would just... Take the kid without asking why, or if he would be forced to say what happened through all of it. He supposed explaining things would make more sense, so he didn't look like some kind of abandoner of his child. That crystal, though, was not his child. It was a life that the two of them took away, only to give it back later as some suedo-punishment. Aran wondered if he would have to conjure up some exuse, about why they killed him. Except really, the alligator had attacked Aran first. Which gave him all the right to protect himself - even if Tahi finished him off.

It wasn't just Aran that found the scrolls fascinating. Studying them left him with more questions than answers, but he himself was eager to achieve all of those things listed. Even if he would have to find a gembound that looked like the one in the scroll about milk. He would have to figure that one out eventually too.

"You're correct." Aran replied at the mention of not giving up the scrolls. "Take all the time you need." Aran trusted Tahi-shei. With the scrolls, and would for a while, while the deer studied them.

Apparently, Tahi-shei was in a good mood, because it only took him about an hour of repetition, reading, and general study to implant the information into his brain. It seemed as though he had it semi-permanently (specifically the instructions about the sugar, as the pictures of boats were nice but not very informative). As long as he continued to repeat this to himself for a few days, he was reasonably sure he could remember this information at approaching forever.

Wonderful.

And in any case, if he ever forgot, he could just go ask Aran if he could read the scroll again... right?

Aran had decided to revive the stone, sure, but that meant he would have to actually... Like use his magic on it. He'd never revived a stone before, but somehow he figured it wouldn't be too hard to figure out. Tahi was busy staring at the scrolls he brought, so he had time to figure it out. Setting the thing down on the ground outside of his bag, Aran prepared the spell.

He knew where he set the stone down at, so not being able to see everything wasn't an issue. He just had to actually make his magic work.

Except it didn't nothing happened. Aran wondered if the alligator just... Didn't wish to be revived. Maybe the stone had the will of the gator within it, except he knew that wasn't how stones worked. He would have to tell Tahi that it just... Didn't work. A shame, really, after all the talking they did of why reviving it would be a good thing.

Tahi-shei cringed when the stone cracked and shattered. He looked over at it forlornly and sighed, but didn't bother telling Aran why he was suddenly thinking that he should have just kept it in the first place. Aran didn't need to know. Tahi doubted he'd feel any guilt about it, but he also didn't want to take his chances with it. His eyes were downcast, though, and he sighed.

"It seems Fate did not smile upon us," he murmured, and shook his head slightly. "I'll find a better way to make up the imbalance I've created, then."
