He so desperately wanted to learn to be like the dragons Vargas compared them to, to breathe fire and fly, and learn to be free! They were trapped like this, trapped by ignorance and lost in a body forced to be what it wasn't. They weren't meant to fight wars- they were meant to learn and to fly and to be powerful before anything like that ever happened.
