Tilting her head, Comet followed Chaos over to where they were searching for something. It was soon revealed that they were trying to make a staff with the stick that they found. Oh, she had helped Sun find a staff to help him walk before! But she was wondering why they needed some feathers. Maybe to make the staff softer?

"Sure! I'll be right back." Comet had noticed that the trees here were a little different from the ones in Eridanus. They were less... wet? Was that a good description? Either way, there just weren't many vines in these trees. After searching for a while without much luck, she was about to give up when she found one draped on a tree. It was just the right size, not too thick or thin, and strong enough for whatever Chaos was planning to do with it.

"I go one!" Comet ran back and dropped it next to them, then sat down to see what they were planning to do with all these materials.

@V-Chaos-Two

Chaos-Two took the vine and trotted away with the feathers and the staff, sitting himself down by the riverbank. He spent a moment with some stones, picked some up and feeling them, setting a particularly dense one aside before picking one up that was suitable. Though it turned out to be too flimsy, and when he struck it, it shattered instead.

They sighed and turned to Comet, "Could you help me? I need a stone, not too heavy, not too light, one that I could chip at to make sharp edges all around. I noticed that a chipped stone gains sharp edges. I thought that perhaps I could make a spear."

They looked back down and felt along the ground for one, just barely able to make out shapes.

Comet flattened her ears and flinched back when the stone shattered. This was an awfully weird process of making a staff. She did not know why a rock would be needed, and why it needed sharp edges. Oh, a spear. That did not explain why feathers would be used though, that was the strange part.

"Sure!" plopping herself down on the riverbank too, she poked her nose against some rocks, testing their weight. Finding one that looks like it has some potential, she picks it up in her mouth and goes some ways away from Chaos. Head up, and a sharp thrust downwards, releasing the rock. Unfortunately, this one cracks into pieces too. "No success." Comet sighed, finding a good rock was hard.

@V-Chaos-Two

"Here, start making a pile," they said, ears flattened as well, picking up another rock.

They slammed the larger rock down in a quick strike, down and out to try and chip off the edges. Surprisingly... it worked. Their ears went up again and they continued to hammer at it, chipping off more and more pieces until they had a sharp spear.

They grabbed the vine and got to work tying it securely, using two sticks to secure it before starting to attach the feathers to the end and around the grip he made by scoring the wood and wrapping vine around it.

"It's perfect," they said, "Thank you, Comet... now I think I can hunt much better."

Comet helped bring over rocks, following their instructions of making a pile. As she returned, she watched as Chaos picked up a larger rock, and slam it on the ground. Unlike their first few tries, this time it actually worked, and they continued picking it up and slamming it against the group until it was sharp. Something she wasn't able to do herself, since that would injure her teeth.

Stopping her collection of rocks, Comet sat down, her eyes going side to side as she watched the vine get looped around the rock and the stick, before it was tied, connecting the two together. Even the feathers were added in, what for she didn't know. Perhaps it was to look fancy or for some other usage. She wasn't as skilled in making things and the mechanics of that like they were.

"It looks really good!" she thumped her tail on the ground a bit before getting up. That thing looked sharp, and it reminded her of Thalia's spear. But this one was much more dangerous, and looked like it could do some serious harm to any animal. "Let's go!" trotting back into the forest, she put her nose onto the ground again, trying to catch a scent. Hopefully this time whatever they found would be easier to kill, with Chaos's spear added to their arsenal.

Chaos-Two brushed their fingers along the spear and hoped the addition would help it fly straight when thrown. Not that they could really see what they were throwing at. That was a problem for future Chaos-Two.

They walked forward on two legs, using the spear as a staff to walk, their steps a little lighter with the extra support, and their spine wasn't so scrunched up. They sniffed at the air and bent down, trying to find a trail of prey.

They caught nothing, or perhaps the scent was too weak for their nose to find, they were no canine, afterall.

"I can't find anything," they said, "Hm. Perhaps our ruckus has scared things off. Let's keep moving and follow a deer trail, we'll find something there."

They walked forward more steadily than they had in a while, the staff reducing the stress on their legs as they walked. This was a great idea, and they silently applauded themselves.

Comet awaited eagerly to see if the spear would be a helpful addition to help them walk, and sure enough, it did. For a second she saw Sun there instead, with his staff instead of the spear that Chaos was holding in their hand. But the next moment the gibbon was gone, and she was left with a faint feeling of sadness. Shaking her head, she smiled, "So much better! Now your back probably won't hurt as much."

The wolf nodded along with their comment, and she led the way through the forest, finally pausing at a spot that was far away. She lifted her nose into the air again, to see if she would have more luck this time. Unfortunately, the air here was just as stale-- those Carollers must've scared away a lot of prey. "No luck." Comet shook her head.

@V-Chaos-Two

Chaos-Two nodded once and pushed at the weird jutting bones above their hips, moving it from side to side, "This causes me pain. It's lose bone and grinds against me."

They walked forward, following Comet, sniffing around for anything.

"Perhaps. All that means is that we need to walk further," they said, and picked up the staff so they could trot forward, searching for any sign of prey.

Finally.

They crouched down and crept through the brush, ears pricked forward. They stopped and remained hidden behind a bush off the path, a Caroller sitting in the clearing. Perfect.

Comet didn't know how to respond to that. There wasn't really anything she could think of that could help loose bone. One option was cutting it off, of course, but that would be a worse injury than the bone was in the first place.

She crouched down, seeing that Chaos had found something. Poking her head through the bush, she spotted what they had seen: a Caroller. Stupid bird, hadn't it known that it wasn't safe here? It had escaped their first attack, but perhaps this time it wouldn't be so lucky.

Since Comet had gotten the last bird, she decided to let them try hunting this one. And to see if the spear worked, that's why they had made it right? She motioned for them to try.

@V-Chaos-Two

Chaos-Two crouched low and crept forward, eyes narrowed. They raised the spear, aimed... and threw it.

The spear soared and hit the bird in the wing, breaking it and nearly tearing it off. It squawked and shrieked, flapping around and trying to get away, only for it's wing to keep it from getting anywhere. Chaos-Two sprung from the bushes and bounded forward, their maw opening and grabbing the bird by the head.

They shook until the bird stopped moving and let it fall, picking feathers out from between the sharp spikes of their gem, nursing a bloody tongue for a few moments. Hopefully it wouldn't get infected.

"Did it," they said, turning to Comet, even smiling at her.
