Adonia trotted down the path toward the clearing Comet had told them about. She had mentioned that the grass was cropped short because of the herbivorous lessers often grazing there. With any luck they would be able to find some while they were here. If nothing else just to scare them for fun. Not that they were big enough to hunt much more than mice at this point but they could survive on their own if need be, not that Adonia wanted to. She liked her big family, especially big sister Comet. She had so many stories to tell, and she absolutely loved each of her stories.

Adonia however today was going to the clearing not to scare the lessers, but to practice magic in the verdant grounds. There would be plenty of latent seeds sleeping in the soil for them to practice with, so things shouldn’t be too hard for them. As long as their magic proved to actually come when they called for it. Magic however was fickle and didn’t always come when you tried to use it. She had already had a bit of practice, albeit secretly but she had a bit of practice on her own. She wasn’t sure if Sprig had been practicing like she had but she hadn’t caught any hints that he had been. He hadn’t been showing the signs of fatigue she was used to.

Adonia pushed through the final bush and out into the clearing. Trotting forward a bit she turned around and grinned brightly. She wasn’t alone today! Comet had given her and Sprig permission to come here and practice their magic together. Adonia couldn’t help but wonder if Sprig was a natural like she was with his magic, after all he had gotten his name from what had happened when he hatched. ”Are you ready Sprig? We need to start with telling each other how much we know about using magic and start from our closest place together. How does that sound?” She asked with a bright cheerful smile.

@Sprig

Sprig's sisters had been off doing plenty of things, and recently, he had just been wandering around looking at plants near the house. His mind was filled with possibilities of things he could make! Most specifically, seeing if he could mix some plants and meat to make a really yummy tasting food. But now was not the time for that.

Happy to be doing something with his (favorite, although he would never admit it) sister, he padded happily next to her towards the clearing. He had been so busy doing other things, he hadn't really practiced his magic much since his hatching. Had Adonia? Soon they had arrived, Comet hadn't directed them to one too far away, so she would be able to hear if they had any problems. Sprig's eyestalks raised up into the air, waving in different directions as they took in the scent of the place. He tucked them back as he listened to his sister talk, and smiled back. Adonia's smile was contagious!

"Okay!" thinking hard as he closed his eyes, he tried to think back to what it felt like. "Well, it usually starts when I feel a tingling in my forehead." because that's where his stone was, and he had learned about that. "Then I sort of push it out, usually to my paw, and it works!" he paused, "What about you, Nia?"

Adonia led the way, happy to have her brother with her for once. She had been coming here on her own quite often with Comet and Sun’s permission. She had been coming to do one thing, grow flowers. At the far end of the clearing her efforts could be seen in the small patch of wildflowers in various stages of bloom. She was rather proud of the patch of wildflowers. They showed she had been working hard to become what she felt they expected of her. She wanted to be the shadow of her father to show them that no matter what daddy would always be with everyone. She knew that Sprig was interested in making food mixed with both meat and vegetation, she thought the idea was absolutely brilliant and she couldn’t wait to try anything he came up with.

Adonia smiled brightly as Sprig agreed to working together. That's kinda what this little out was all about. She wanted to help Sprig make a garden for all the fruits and vegetables and everything he might need for his little adventures in culinary cuisine. She listened as Sprig explained about his own magic. It seemed to be quite similar in regards to her own. ”Mine’s pretty much the same. But when I actually look for mine it comes as a warm sensation with tingling in my forehead, and then I just guide it out my leg and paw.” She explained thinking for a moment.

”Do you know how to find your magic? We might should probably start there.” If Sprig didn’t know how to look for his magic that might make things a bit harder, she would try and explain how she often found hers but she wasn’t sure if it would be the same for him. ”With me, I close my eyes and focus on looking deep into myself. When I do sometimes I find this warm green feeling right around here.” She lifted a paw and motioned to her forehead where her gem was.

@Sprig

Sprig nodded excitedly as Adonia explained what she felt. Apparently it was very similar to how he did it! Well, they were siblings after all. Then, it was his turn to answer a question. "I usually close my eyes, and I just think about using it. Then it appears!" He listened to his sister explain how she did it, and watched as she pointed to her gem. "Mine comes from there too!" he used his eyestalk to point at the magnesite on his forehead. Wow they were so similar, they both even had a gem in the same place, on their foreheads!

Sprig flicked his tail from side to side, "Let's try using our magic!" He was excited to see what his sister could do, he had taken note that she had been doing a lot of things and wondered how good she was at magic. "I'll try first." Following his own advice, he thought about casting a spell. There! There it was! He pushed out that energy towards his paw, and a small sprig came to life underneath it. "You try now Nia!"

Adonia smiled as Sprig explained that they were much the same, in many aspects when it came to magic. Eagerly she flexed her paws against the soft ground. This would at least be a bit easier than they had thought it would be initially. They both called their magic about the same way.

”Well then we can start with the fun part then! We can start actually using our magic!” She explained readily as her tail waved eagerly, something she had picked up from Comet. Adonia giggled softly as she realized just how alike her and Sprig really were, right down to having their gems on their foreheads.

Adonia reached forward nuzzling Sprig for a second, her excitement bubbling over into affection. However she soon stepped back after giving her brother the affectionate nuzzle. Then Sprig suggested just what she had been thinking and she smiled brighter. ”Sounds like a plan!” She chimed cheerfully as she moved to a spot not too far away from Sprig.

Inhaling the girl took a deep breath to calm herself. Then she closed her eyes and looked inward searching for that lovely green light that dwelled within her. It came so easily she was almost surprised. As it came she guided it down and out her paw. As she did instead of just one flower two twin pink peony flowers grew right in front of her paw. Opening her eyes she looked at Sprig and grinned. ”I’ve been practicing a lot, and I can make full flowers now!” She smiled brightly with her tail waving happily behind her. ”I can help you learn how to do it too if you want! It just takes practice.” She offered with a bright smile her right ear flicking lightly as a bug landed on it.

Sprig watched as Adonia not only made something emerge from the ground, but actually made flowers! "Wow!" His sister was so amazing! "You're so good at this Nia!" he gave her a warm smile, and sniffed the flowers. "These smell good too!" The sprig he grew was dull in comparison to what she could do. "Yes, teach me!" Sprig flexed his paws on the ground, feeling the dirt between his toes.

Adonia smiled as she opened her eyes and looked down at the flowers she had grown. Her ears perked and a bright grin spread across her muzzle. She had only used that spell a handful of times but it had worked beautifully. She let out a thrilled giggle as she pranced in place for a moment and looked up at Sprig. The sound of her brother being impressed caused the little lioness to puff up just a little bit. To have her brother be impressed with her and say she was doing good, that was just icing on the cake for her!

”You can eventually do this too! It just takes time and practice.” The little girl told her brother. All he had to do was keep trying. ”All you have to do is just be persistent in working with your magic.” The girl offered her brother encouragement, she wanted him to keep trying to make sure he would be as good as her someday.

As Sprig asked her to teach him she smiled and nodded. ”Okay!” She looked around for a second and walked over to a small area of dirt. ”First find a seed you want to start with.” She grabbed a seed from a nearby flower that was seeding. ”Then you do what you usually do to call on your first spell. You cast your first spell to bring them out of the ground.” The young girl closed her eyes and focused. She cast the spell a soft green light flashing from her gem as she did so. The small seeds in the dirt slowly worming their way up in front of her paw. ”You try it.” She urged gently, hoping to be able to walk him through it step by step.

Sprig nodded at Adonia's encouragement. "Yeah! maybe someday I can grow a SUPER large treehouse just like daddy!" He knew his father was really good at plant magic, and hoped to one day be that good too. "We can work together to make it the largest one ever!"

His eyes followed the cub's movements as she found a seed and cast the spell to make it grow. Alright, starting with a spell he did know how to do and working his way up. Sprig looked around for a seed, which was quite easy considering they were in a forest, and placed it on the ground. He positioned his paw over it, and felt the magic from the stone on his forehead flow to his paw, and when he opened his eyes, the seed had grown! "Did it! What's next Nia?" Sprig looked to his sister.

Adonia brightened even more than she already was as Sprig spoke. ”I’m sure if we can’t do it on our own, you and I together could make you a really cool treehouse!” This sent the little lioness’ brain reeling. She couldn’t wait to try, they could start small with just a little treehouse, and then they could work up to making a big home! They could make one big enough to reach the ceiling and branch out at the top and let the orb lights through! They could make it so big even birds would think about going to the top. Her eyes were glittering with enthusiasm as she thought about this idea.

Adonia watched as Sprig took his moment to grow his seed. It had gone wonderfully and she grinned with joy and pride at how well her brother was doing. ”That’s so good! You’re getting really good at that spell!” She gushed eagerly and smiled nodding. ”Okay now comes the hard part, because now your not just pushing magic all willy nilly.” She started to explain with a soft smile. ”Now you’re actually going to focus your magic on the plant rather on a seed. The seed is easy because you can put your paw on it. Now you have to put yourself close to it without touching.” She explained sitting her paw down beside the small plant. ”You need to focus on one single plant, if you don’t you’ll affect everything around you.” She continued as she closed her eyes.

The young girl took a deep breath and searched inwardly for her magic. However it seemed this time, it would not come. There was no flash of green from her red gem, there was no movement from within the plant. The girl growled and strained trying to force the magic. The girl let out a strained grunt, finally she stopped and sat down panting. ”My magic isn’t coming this time.” She said rather dejectedly. ”It may not have worked for me but you try.” The girl urged her brother with a sweet warm smile. She wanted to see him do just as good as herself.

Sprig was happy that Adonia seemed to love his idea. Spending time with his sister was awesome! One day when their magic was stronger they could try doing that. It would be the best! He could see the sparkle in her eyes, and he couldn't help but smile. Seeing her happy made him happy!

Listening eagerly at the next set of instructions, he nodded. It was a matter of directing his magic differently. Sprig watched Adonia attempt the spell, but fail. "That's alright, magic does fail sometimes." Turning his attention to the small plant, he tried to push the magic he felt from his forehead into the plant.

The small plant grew into a beautiful flower, a blue rose. "Cool!" Sprig reached out his paw and gave it a poke, checking if it were actually real. "Wow I actually did it! Thank you Adonia!" He couldn't believe how good his sister was at magic.
