Purity breathed in the stale air of the altar, drinking up the strange light that cast over this dark pit. He hadn’t woken up but five minutes earlier, and his back was curling up as he stepped to the threshold of the altar’s black stone.

He sniffed it, briefly, before pressing his nose to it. Some part of his abhorred it- it was wrong, intrinsically wrong to his being. But it was something powerful- something that wrong didn’t just exist without meaning.

It was placed here. It must be important, it must have some purpose, and Purity was driven to find it.

Inhaling once more, Purity’s tail swayed as he narrowed his eyes down to the object. He hated sleeping so close to it. What he hated more, though, was the thought of abandoning this post, refusing to learn more about what this was.

He rumbled, and stepped out of the hole, ears pinned back as he made to Orion.
