Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
Adonia beamed proudly as Renny complimented her abilities. ”I can make it bloom too!” She had been practicing really hard to get to get her magic to where she had it. She had practiced on her own mostly, but she had had one practice session with Sprig. Which had been immensely fun learning what each of them could do and how much alike each of them was. They were almost the same in the way they used their magic down to having their gems on their foreheads. But they were vastly different in personality. She was very outgoing and often off doing something fun, while Sprig was always looking for the next culinary experience.
A bright cheerful laugh spouted from the little lioness cub as she chased after the two wisps. She heard Renny laughing and it was absolutely infectious and she found herself laughing like an idiot as she ran with tears in her eyes chasing the wisps around the clearing. The little cub was laughing so hard her front paws tangled with themselves and she went tumbling haunches over head right onto her back in the dirt, where she lay laughing hysterically.
Finally as she caught her breath and started to sit up, she caught sight of the trail of mushrooms. The girl let out a surprised gasp and approached them curious as she poked at one with a tentative paw. Squatting down she looked at the mushrooms curious. ”Wow You can make mushrooms like I can make plants grow!” The girl admitted brightly, curious about how he could make mushrooms. She began to wonder if Mushrooms would grow if she tried, after all a mushroom was a plant right?

James skid to a halt as Adonia fell, ready to come to her aid, but all he heard was more giggling. He turned and smiled, watching her with a raised eyebrow before trotting over. A wisp floated forward to boop Adonia's snout, making him laugh softly.
"I can!", he laughed, "I have a... a dear friend. His name is Tahi-shei. I sort of learned it from him, and from one of the masters."
He flushed just a bit at the thought of him, thinking about his adorable little spots, his eyes when he smiled... sigh~.
"Why don't you try to make something grow too? I need to practice it anyway," he said with a soft huff.
With a sweep of his wings across the ground, glowing mushrooms blood from the soil, spreading further and dotting the whole clearing. With the dim of the jungle, it was beautiful. No, more than beautiful... incredible.
James stared at his handiwork with pride, and looked at Adonia, eyes soft, "Someday your magic will flourish like these mushrooms, like the plants you grow. You will be able to grow massive trees that bear fruit in a day, to grow flora that can whip and defend. A little practice goes a long, long way."

Adonia lay flat on her back on the ground her paws limp over her body as she laughed hysterically. She was laughing so hard she seemed to be having trouble breathing. Finally as Renny walked over to her and gazed down at her she grinned up at him wide enough to show teeth. ”I think tripping over your own paws constitutes losing.” The girl commented her body quivering still with laughter.
The girl looked on at the mushrooms absolutely dazzled by the different colored mushrooms. Reaching out with a tentative paw she poked one of the mushroom caps. ”Can you eat them?” She questioned curiously looking at one light brownish grey mushroom. ”Oh! That’s really cool! I’d like to learn to do it too!” She sat up thinking for a second. ”If you can eat them, do you think Sprig might like them in his food experiments?” She asked thinking of her brother’s ventures and how she may possibly help.
Adonia looked at Renny and watched him as he practiced his magic. She smiled brightly as she nodded. Taking a deep breath the girl closed her eyes and focused as she let it out. She turned herself inward and searched for that brilliant green magic. It came easily to her as it seemed to do so more often now. Slowly she guided the magic down and out of all four of her paws, trying to urge more than one plant to grow at a time. She was quite successful in this venture, as small flower buds grew up around her paws, even a small tree sapling grew from the earth. As her magic worked a green flash burst from her forehead.
Adonia opened her eyes and gazed down at her paws, all four of them surrounded by newly budded plant life. It was as if someone had sprinkled super miracle grow around her paws, as even the grass looked lusher and greener. She looked up at Renny pride in her eyes as she grinned. She had done just what she had set out to do! The little cub bound forward pressing her head into the horse's front leg purring heavily. ”Look Renny! If I focus I can make plants grow around all my paws! And more than one at a time!” SHe gushed grinning up at Renny.

James hummed and looked down, "Um... I don't think that's a good idea. I made them to glow, not be edible."
He ate a bad mushroom once... it was not good.
"I could make once that are edible for him though," he said thoughtfully, and looked down at Adonia, "I could try to teach you how to make your own though."
He watched as her magic pushed into the ground, encouraging hidden seedlings to grow, to emerge. He laughed and pushed his head against the lion cub, chest puffing out with pride.
"I'm so proud of you, my beautiful little girl," he said softly, using a wing to brush against her cheek, "I cannot wait to see what you'll become, but for now... I'll appreciate who you are."
James smiled and stepped back, breathing in and then out, gesturing at the mushrooms, glowing a soft blue, "Fungi is a dangerous element. A wise friend explained that these could be used to heal, to feed... or to harm. I'll show you the first two, but you must never use them for evil. Fungi are painful if used incorrectly."
That slime from before... he could do that. The blue slime appeared before his hooves, making a small puddle of it. He gestured to it and looked up at Adonia.
"This decomposes and turns into a substance that cleans wounds," he explained, "It is one of many things you can do with this simple spell. Be as creative as you want, but start with the typical mushroom and picture it in your head. Brown, a white stalk. Similar to how you'd grow a plant, but remember they are vastly different. They're more like us animals, actually. My friend explained it better."

Adonia looked from the mushrooms to Renny curiously as he explained that he had made them to glow not be food. She hummed and sat up still looking at the glowing trail. They looked tasty but she wasn’t going to eat them if he wasn’t sure they were edible. ”Okay! Maybe I can make some eventually that are edible and Sprig can have them for his food!” The girl mused aloud to Renny as she looked up at him smiling brightly.
Adonia sat for a moment thinking as Renny said he could make some that they could eat, and then she was jumping up excitedly with his next words. ”Really you think you could teach me how! I’d love to do that!” The little lioness gushed her excitement bubbling over as her tail waved rapidly from side to side behind her.
The little lioness beamed happily as Renny bumped her. She had done it! She had made plants bud around her paws, all of them! She pranced excitedly for a second but stopped as soon as she realized she may be trampling the plants. With that she leaped to the side and away from the plants. Leaning down she inspected the plants for damage. ”Oh no! I’m so sorry little ones I didn’t think, I just got too happy! Are you okay?” The little lioness crooned to the plants gently, as she looked them all over. They all seemed to be fine, not a single broken or bent stem to be seen. The girl let out a soft sigh as she sat up and gazed at Renny. A soft purr left the girl as she felt his wing brush her cheek, a fond smile spreading across her muzzle as she looked up at Renny.
The little lioness stood listening to Renny explain about the mushrooms. ”I promise I won't use them for bad Renny. If I have to I’ll use them for defense, but you don’t have to show me how to grow those just yet.” The girl assured her only parental figure. She would only ever use her plants to defend herself if she could ever figure out how. She had heard Comet tell the story of the time daddy had saved Comet and himself from a horde of dangerous carnivorous rats had attacked them and how he had used his plant magic to call upon lashing roots to fend them off while they ran away.
Adonia stood listening to Renny explain and watched as he showed the new fungal antiseptic. The girl stood for a moment but took a deep breath and focused. First she pictured the roots of the mushroom, then the pearly white stalk, then she moved to the domed brown cap. She pulled for her magic but in a different way, and pushed it down into the ground. And between her paws sprouts a small brown mushroom with a white stalk. Adonia looked up at Renny grinning broadly. ”Look Renny I did it the first time!” She cried excitedly her tail waving behind her excitedly.

"Good," James said, "I'm glad to hear it. Fungus aren't something you abuse."
He watched her carefully, watching the fungus grow. A smile spread across his face and he smiled wide, eyes crinkling.
"Good job! I knew you'd get it," he gushed, and sniffed at the mushroom gently, "It looks good, but until you have full confidence and understanding in this spell, I suggest you don't eat it, just in case."
James tried again, focusing on growing one big mushroom instead. He focused on the glowing blue mushroom, the stalk growing taller, the cap widening. It was bigger than Adonia by the time he stopped, a satisfied smile on his face.
"There, now we have a light source," he said, "In case you ever come back out here at night, this will light up your activities under the canopy."
Adonia smiled broadly as Renny said he was glad to hear she wouldn’t abuse her Fungal powers. She knew it was wrong to hurt others unless you were hunting for food, so using her mushrooms to hurt others was in the same category. She would probably stumble on the deadly mushrooms by accident, and probably other kinds if she wasn’t careful. ”I know it’s not good to hurt others with your magic unless it’s self defense. Sun taught us that.” The little lioness smiled innocently as she spoke of what Sun had told them about using magic.
Adonia opened her eyes and looked down at the delicate little mushroom. It had a fat dome top and a thick cream colored stalk. She crouched down observing her first ever mushroom, it had been different when she used her magic. It had been green, but somehow a different shade of green. So she knew now when she wanted to use this spell to look for the off green magic connected to the fungal wake spell. ”I won’t eat it unless I’m sure it won’t hurt me.” The little lioness assured her Renny that she wouldn’t go eating her mushrooms all willy nilly.
Adonia watched Renny for a moment. She watched as he cast another spell, this one making a blue mushroom. A very large blue glowing mushroom. Her eyes widened and her mouth came open a bit as she gasped excitedly. ”It’s so pretty!” The little lioness gushed over the glowing fungus that Renny had managed to grow. WIth an excited squeal the little lioness bound forward and pressed her head against Renny’s leg purring hard, as her tail lashed happily behind her. ”Oh thank you Renny it’s wonderful!” The girl thanked him for her new light to practice by. She was so excited she didn’t know exactly what to do at this moment other than shower him with affection.
James laughed and kneeled down, hugging her tightly with his wings. He pulled her close to his chest and nuzzled the top of her head, kissing her fur gently.
"I love you, my sweet Adonia," he said softly.
He loved all of his children with everything he had. Pegasus, Sprig, Adonia, Amaryllis, Abraxas... and his first children, Comet and Sun. He loved them all so much.
Slowly, he stood, rubbing his face gently, "You're amazing, my girl. I just hope I'm doing right by you."
He was the only father they all had now, and that was a lot of pressure for one person. Now that Sun and Comet were grown and caring for them, it was a lot better, but still.
"Keep practicing your spells," he hummed, "I want to see how good you've gotten."

Adonia purred loud and hard as she snuggled into Renny’s chest as he hugged her. She liked these, Sun gave them too and she always liked the feeling of having his arms around her. Though this was a different way to hug, Renny used his wings but that was okay. The hug was just as warm and loving as she could ever hope for.
Though she couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to have a hug from her Daddy’s full fluffy mane, what he would feel like to have his strong paws gently resting on her little body. A twinge of sadness entered the little girl’s heart as she snuggled tighter against Renny. She couldn’t help but feel the sadness of a loss she had lost before had ever been hatched. As Renny spoke softly she smiled fondly though with a tint of sadness. ”I love you too Renny.” The girl admitted softly her voice was sincere and innocent.
She backed up a few steps as she felt Renny begin to stand. She wanted to be able to look at him in the face rather than talk to his knees. She tilted her head to the side as he spoke, unsure of what he meant. ”What do you mean Renny?” She asked sweetly her vivid curiosity driving her to know what he meant.
Adonia perked up instantly as Renny encouraged her to keep working with her magic. She nodded quickly grinning brightly up at him. She wondered what spell she should work with next. Then she thought it would be best to start at square one and make a big pretty flower. Moving to a new spot in the clearing not too far away from the large glowing blue mushroom, Nia took a place and closed her eyes as she focused taking a deep breath. The girl let the breath out slowly as she searched inward for the brilliant green magic that she was so familiar with. It came easily and she found that it was much easier to control. Slowly she pulled it and urged it down out of her front paws. Between her paws three tall green stems emerged from the ground. At their tops hung a large red bud.
A bright giggle left the little girl as she opened her eyes and looked down at the three flower buds standing at nose height with her. The girl quickly turned her head and looked to Renny for approval, and then back to her flower buds. Next she would make them bloom, but that would require another spell cast a different more refined spell cast. ”What do you think? I believe these flowers have the same name as Amaryllis. I’m gonna try and make them bloom next!” The little girl explained readily with a bright smile.
"... It's nothing, don't worry," he said softly, watching her do her magic.
James set his head down as he watched the stalks grow from the ground, and he couldn't be prouder. A smile spread across his face as he looked at Adonia, chest swelling.
"They're lovely, I can't wait to see them bloom," he said softly, crossing his hooves over each other, "I didn't know she was named after a flower, that's interesting."
They were all just full of surprises. Pleasant ones, thankfully.
