Aerie was laying on her belly, staring at the portal. Something had to happen, right? She wanted like... a scarf, or something fabric to wrap around herself. Something colorful!! Maybe a red or black, or even a white.

”Hurry up," she groaned, ”Mom's prolly wonderin' where I am.”

She was probably expected to bring dinner, so she hoped something would appear soon so she could head off to catch a tunnel runner or something on the way home.

The portal's sound was soothing, or would be to most: a constant, quiet rush not unlike that of the water close by. It whirled and danced with a multitude of colors, but nothing fell out of it, least of all a scarf.

It was pretty to look at, at least.

Aerie waited. And waited. And waited.

Honestly this whole post could be just twenty lines of 'and waited', but since that's considered spam, I'm going to have to write something.

She lay on the ground with her head on the stone, dejected after waiting for so long with nothing to show for it. Even if the chance grew with every thread and GM roll rolled, she wouldn't get any less grumpy. She waited for minutes, and then an hour, and then two, and then she stood up.

”Screw this,” she said, and stormed off again.
