He had decided.

Instincts had been clawing at the inside of his skull, and he'd been out and about for so long that he wondered exactly if Haven knew he was still around - collecting trinkets and plants and bringing them back, root clumps and all, to plant around the cliffs near their den.

None were blooming yet, so he figures she couldn't quite smell them, but he was proud of the particularly bright plant he'd picked up near Cetus- it seemed to glow when they caves got dark.

But building a nest and surrounding safety net had only partially calmed those instincts, but he needed to do... more.

He'd be back in a few days anyway, so he started tugging on that specific thread of magic that would whisper and curl like a fern against his stone when he looked at the green and gold stone he'd pulled from a Silverling a number of cycles ago.

It nearly broke his tooth, and the soft green color reminded him of the plants they were using to grow their home into the cave around them, with the gold making him... very happy about the possible glamour of the possible Gembound that will grow from it.

Electrum gently pressed the magic into the stone before him, curled along the back of the cave in his usual sleeping corner, and he hoped he'd be back in time to explain the surprise chrysalis to his mate.

It feels like something... deep was pulled out of his core, like when he's have to pull a bone from between his teeth but strangely... somehow less invasive. A gentle recognition of something having happened deep in the gem in from of him, and the instincts raging in his mind seem to stop like they'd hit a wall- satisfied, for now...

But he's tired.

It's... oddly tiring doing this, more so than standard magic.

Huh.

Electrum lets out a soft snort of confusion at the possible implications, but another new thought taps at the inside of his skull, and he first tries to press the gem into the bed of moss he'd made, the soft rebound registering as something the gemling would need... only after they hatched. So, to the back corner goes the berry shaped stone, and he purrs as the gem begins to weave a larger version of itself around itself, setting itself sturdily into the wall and floor of the nest.

With that, he makes his way out of the den, casting one glance back over his shoulder before dropping from the mouth and gliding away, to search for help for his and Haven's garden in another cave.
