Marshmallow had not stopped flying ever since she had gotten the mission from Arwen. Now she was coming back to report, and even the energetic little bat was exhausted. Her wingbeats were noticeably slower now, but she kept going, and arrived at the entrance of the den. "Here! Here!" she landed on the ground and started breathing heavily.

Arwen lifted her head and exited her den, cooing. She picked up Marshmallow and brought her inside, offering water and honey to get her energy back up.

"Drink and eat, then tell me what he said,", she said calmly, stroking Marshmallow's back gently.

She was kind to her fellows, to those who'd earned her respect, and little Marshmallow certainly had done that. Not only flying all throughout Pegasus, but actually finding Tahi and then flying back.

She was proud of her little courier.

There was Arwen! Marshmallow had only been gone from her for a short time, but it felt like forever. She vibrated with the joy of being stroked and immediately started to inhale the water and honey she was given. Finally, feeling refreshed, she repeated the message Tahi had told her to give. "Go! Little While! Have! Chores!" she recounted, which came easily considering she had been repeating it in her head the whole way back.

Arwen nodded, "Good work, my sweet. So the Fungal Prince will arrive later, that's perfect."

She lifted the small dishes (made from shells and carved wood) up onto a honey comb where a small bedroom was made for Marshmallow, complete with a small nest made from fur and twigs and a small glowing mushroom for light and to rest things upon.

"Rest up, dear," she said, "I'll get the upper balcony ready for him."

Arwen stroked Marshmallow's head one last time before heading out to coax the living branches into a staircase to the upper balcony.

"Okay. Okay." Marshmallow's throat was hoarse, and wasn't able to express herself the way she usually did. Laying down in the nest, the small bat fell asleep. Tomorrow, first thing, she would go out on her next mission to spy on some gembounds.
