James stood in an unoccupied section of the cave, tail swishing and ears perked forward. He hadn't used his ability as of yet, but he hoped it would come as easy as the rest of his magic did.

"Enchanters and those of you with the water-breathing spell, come forth and we'll get started. Gather up items that can be looped around the neck or tied somewhere on the body," he urged.

Carja slunk over and sat next to James, looking away. She looked lost in thought for a moment before facing forward, swallowing.

”If there's like a metal band around then we could use it for my horns. Having to cast the spell multiple times would end up tiring me out early, and if I don't have to fight and focus on trying to breath then I'll be more efficient,” she explained.

With that said, she turned her attention to anyone coming to join them, brows furrowed. Last time she tried to swim in a vast body of water she'd had her tongue nearly cut off.

Comet had followed James here. "I'm here!" She listened to Carja, and remembered all over again that incident in Fornax. Yet another reason to NOT go swimming underwater. She could help with her magic though. She nodded at the last part, "I agree, if I had something like a necklace or something to tie around my ear like the feather that would be easier." Comet stood next to James. "I'm not sure if I can do the water breathing spell but I can try! Let me look for something..."

It took a lot of looking around but she came up with a rusty ring that looked like it could fit Carja. "Here Carja! I think this will fit you!"

"Hey," announced Attikias's entrance back into the workshop. Carja had shuffled over to this side with two beings he recognized from the teaching session with Tahi-Shei. Their names failed him- did he even ever catch them?- but he waved to either of them anyways, ducking in besides Carja.

"I'm not too good with magic," he began, recalling the time he overworked himself by making that dye and his tattoo. "But I made some beads for you guys to use, if you want them." He swung his satchel around and rummaged, pulling out the eleven beads. Six were misshaped, but the others were round enough to be called beads anyways, and he spread them out on a nearby table.

Comet's find, too, Attikias nodded at. "If you need help putting it on, I can get it." He emphasized with a flex of his hands and a soft chuckle.

"But, um. I've never enchanted before- the Collector told me about it, I think, at least," he continued, lining up the beads and pendants he'd made. Each had a hole that was big enough for rope- Rope! Attikias shoved his hand into his satchel again (pricking himself with the needle in the process) and retrieved his long rope he'd intended to cut for hunting traps. "I figure we can try and enchant some of these. I can tie the rope so it adjusts, so the length shouldn't be an issue."

With that, he turned to the others, half-realizing that he may have taken over. Shit. His expression paled just the slightest as he brought his hand up to his mouth, awkwardly glancing away and clearing his throat. "I mean- it may be best if you guys try, first. I'm not really water-inclined either, but I figured these'd help anyways."

James nodded as everyone arrived, and peered over at Attikias and Comet, slightly relived. Excellent, they'd found items to enchant.

"Alright!", he said, "Let's get started. Carja, come over here, we'll start with you. Comet, you cast your water breathing on one of those beads with... Attikias, right? With him. We'll get your items sorted out and then we'll see how many we can do on our own. Hopefully others arrive."

He collected the ring and set it down, working his jaw. He didn't exactly know how to go about this... but it couldn't be too hard, right?

Something seemed to happen, and he could feel the ring start to hum, as if ready to accept whatever magic was thrown at it. Excellent!

"Alright, go ahead, Carja!", he said.

Carja grinned over at Comet, ”Oh thank you!!”

She watched James set it down and then cast magic over it, perking up. That was so interesting... she wondered how it worked.

”Oh!”, she said, having been lost in thought, ”Y-yes! Right.”

Carja inhaled and breathed out, trying her hardest to cast the spell. She strained for a moment before groaning, sagging a bit.

”S-sorry,” she said, still flustered from talking with Blight, ”I can't.”

Comet nodded and looked at the beads that Attikias laid out. They looked like they were made from stones, and she picked one of the rounder ones. "I'm going to try and enchant this one." she told Attikias, and took a deep breath. It looked like James succeeded with the enchantment part, but Carja was unable to do the water breathing one.

Not having tried casting this before, she was unable to do the spell. "Well, I'll just try again."

Attikias nodded encouragingly, stepping away from the beads on the table. "Attikias, yeah. James..?" He tested, just trying to figure out if he remembered the name right.

He hopped up on the table as the ring began to hum. Hm. Attikias studied it for a moment- was it pushing megic into it, something... Blank, something like affixing dye? Maybe, then. He let one leg dangle as he took a bead in his hands, tail curling about himself.

Carja wasn't acting like herself, and Attik's head tilted to her. "Carja?" He shuffled in a little closer, offering out a hand to place on her shoulder. "Take your time with the magic. There's no rush, okay?" He settled back again, looping one leg under the other and leaning back.

"You too. There's no rush- I don't think," he aimed towards Comet, gentle. And, idly, to everyone who had gathered- "How many of these do you think we need?" Talking idly, Attikias held up the bead and rolled it in his fingers, looking over it.

James patted Carja's shoulder with a wing, "It's okay! Try again when you're ready, the ring isn't going anywhere and neither is your magic. We have time."

He hoped that was reassuring enough before making his way over to Comet and nodding, "Mhm. It's nice to meet you."

He was glad Carja had a friend, and went to help Comet instead, pulling forward another bead, "Good. Let's prep some beads for spells, okay? I don't know if I can do another... we'll see. We need more people with enchanting, this is harder than I thought."

He returned to Carja and waited, ready to help seal the magic inside.

Carja offered a smile at both Attikias and Comet, breathing out gently before staring at the ring.

”A few, I think,” she said, ”I can keep casting my spells, but if it takes so much out of someone that they can't enchant something more than once, then we need more people.”

She inhaled and tried again, straining to get a spark of something out, but her magic fizzled out and she was left with nothing. She made a noise of dismay and sagged, folding her wings in.

”Damn!”, she said, frustrated, ”My magic comes easier normally...”
