Pale green speckled with gold, the chrysalis was tucked in the far corner of the ruined den, far enough to be relatively untouched by the destruction. Wilted and burnt plants were all that remained, the den cleared out and abandoned.

The dragonet curled within their gemstone egg wasn't aware of any of this though. They were aware of the warmth, all encompassing and so comforting. They were aware of the thump thump thump of their heartbeat, the comforting rhythm of their own breathing. The only things they could really hear, since the pale green garnet shell muffled all other sound. And they were aware of how cramped they were. Curled up with their tail next to their face, legs tucked tightly against their stomach.

Wait.

They. Were. Trapped.

This was an outrage! They couldn't be TRAPPED! They were POWERFUL. A DRAGON! They didn't quite know what a dragon was, or how they knew they were one, but they were certain that was exactly what they were. And they needed- no- DEMANDED freedom.

It took a bit to figure out how exactly to earn their freedom. Trying to use their head to bash out of the gemstone prison only hurt, and way quickly abandoned. Their legs were stuck against their stomach, but their tail was, evidentially, quite strong. A couple of strong whacks, and they were free in a shower of gold and green shards.

"ggGGRAWGH!" The 'ferocious' war-cry of the newly-freed dragon. The first thing they noticed was- wow, there was a lot of stuff outside of that dumb rock. The rock they had been trapped in was quite pretty (they decided they'd keep the shards, as trophies of their first victory) But the rest? Not so much. It was EMPTY, and what did remained was dead and boring. They kicked a dying, wilted twig of some sort, watching it skitter across the den floor. Across the den floor, and right out the entrance, dropping somewhere down into the water below.

The water..

Now THAT was something pretty!

The newly-hatched dragonet stood by the entrance of the den, staring down almost entranced into the water below. Utterly captivated, but with no idea on how they'd actually make their way down to the bay below. Especially if they wanted to take their 'trophies' with them.
