James peered around the house, eyes narrowed as he searched up and down for his wayward daughter. He shook his head, amused that both of his girls seemed to be adventurers. As great as that was for them, his poor heart would have to suffer yet another daughter fighting venomous snakes and fighting golems.

"Gen?", he called out, lifting up some furs with a wing before heading outside, "Genevive? Where did you go?"

He wandered out of their house (new to Genevive and Varik, but old to him, Comet, and Pegasus), looking all around for the unicorn, biting his cheek and frowning gently. She was probably off staring down a frog or something, but he still couldn't help but worry. Such was a father's life, full of constant worrying.

He ventured further through the houses, humming softly, ears perked up as he listened for a reply.

surprisingly, Jenny wasn't very far. she was, infact, probably on her way out, hanging by some rocks near the edge of the little, ancient town.

she'd look up, giving a soft smile. "hello, renny" she said softly, happily trotting over with her wiggly little legs. she hummed sweetly, looking around. did you need something?" she asked, "i was about to go to pegasus again.. i know you said not to go, but it's pretty." she huffed. she didn't like not being able to go to her favorite place. orion was nice but... it was.. cold. not really in temperature and more in.. emotion. she didn't like it.

"when can we go back?"

"Speech." Thoughts.

James sighed softly in relief as his daughter appeared, trotting forward to meet her halfway and to nuzzle her forelock gently, "Ah, not really, I just thought we could do something together."

His head shot back and he snorted, shaking his head immediately, "No. Genevive, I did not suggest you stay away from Ursa, I ordered you not to and that means that no, we cannot go to Pegasus. Sometime in the future, but not now."

He did not ban things lightly.

"There is a monster in Ursa, Genevive. Until that monster is gone, you will not go to or through that cave until I say it's safe," he said sternly.

He draped his wing over her and shuffled her close, leaning his head down to bump her nose gently, "I don't want to keep you from Pegasus but if we were to go there we'd be much too close to a terrible gembound named Vargas for my liking. He's dangerous too, my dear. But here, with the Seven, we're safe."

Or at least as safe as they could get.

she huffed. she'd never even seen this monster before. plus, wasn't her other parent in ursa?

"then why's tahi up there?" she asked. there wasn't any anger behind the question, just slight frustration and slight sorrow. james had told her all about this other parent that she, as far as she knows, might not actually have, because his existence hasn't been made known to her yet outside of stories, and he's in the exact place they can't go.
"you don't even like me running off to the other caves.." she mumbled. she was adventurous, yes, but maybe not in the sense comet was. moreso in the sense it hurt to be confined to one place for so long, and worse, a place that didn't even feel safe. "doesn't feel like home here..."

she sat beneath james wing. she couldn't do anything about it.

"Speech." Thoughts.

"Your father's out fighting that monster," he said, exhaustion in his voice, "But I know he's alive. I can feel his heart beating in a place right next to mine, it's the bond we share."

And he was so worried...

"You are young and your magic or any defensive capabilities haven't grown yet," he said, "You can go out with another, with Comet or Varik or Peggy. As long as you're not alone and you have your fungal spell practiced."

James nestled Genevive close and set his head down, exhausted on Tahi-shei's behalf, "It is a scary worl, Genevive. So long as I live I will always protect you, even when you're grown. I will always be there if you need me."

He breathed out slowly and nudged her gently, "Now let's practice our spell, okay? I'll place spores on the ground and I want you to draw them up and onto another surface."

A patch of white spores appeared on the ground before them, a mimic of the Mother fungus.
