Seffy, the menace to society stared at the Collector for a bit. He'd never aimed a beam at another being. He was, honestly at a bit of a loss for words. Oh, there was one! His beak parted to let it out. "Uh," Seffy said. More followed, now that the stopper had been removed. "Y-yeah, more caution next time." However, he switched back into anime mode remarkably quickly. Seffy grasped his glasses, smirking. Finally, someone had witnessed his power.

"Heh, now you know my true powerlevel. Remember not to underestimate me." Confidence (seemingly) restored. "What now, Collector? Um." Following some impressive gymnastics, Seffy scratched at the back of his head. Like some eldritch horror marinated in a vat of manga and mountain dew, he'd been twisting and warping his anatomy to allow him to perform increasingly anime-like gestures. "Do we go somewhere? Do I have to do something to obtain my power?"

The Collector was wincing, beneath the hood. The attempt to ignore the new searing blast from the little bird's energy wasn't easy.

The Collector considered, rapidly. Grandiosity. Monologues. Hero syndrome. Genuine power. Enhance the first two. Switch the third and fourth onto... yes, that would be perfect.

A smile curled the wince away, and his croon returned in full force. "Why, yes, little one, you're right. You will need to travel for it. Now, listen closely," he began, offering his hand to Seffyroth again. "There is an object of great power that has long awaited a hero to wield it. I will ask you to do nothing, give nothing, to obtain it--but you must retrieve it from where a monster has hidden it away. It deserves to be back in this world again, wielded by a noble, powerful soul! But there has been no one strong enough to retrieve it in centuries."

...Sort of true.

"This object senses the true motives of those nearby. If you stay pure of heart, a true hero, it will guide your magics to those who do evil. It will strike at those with malice in them, and show you who the enemy is. You will never be fooled or tricked by their cunning, you see-? A powerful item for a hero to wield."

How many times had he said 'hero,' now? Was it too over the top? Hm.

"This item can be found in the cave known as Hydra. To get there, you must pass through the hot tunnel beyond those bones," and here the Collector swept a cloaked arm to indicate the direction of Tunnel P. "You must find the nests atop the canyon walls--a thing only one with speed and wings can manage. There are great, fierce birds there, and the greatest of them--now dead--hid the object in her nest. But all her offspring are just as vicious, and the beasts will guard that object, for they are evil and cannot stand an item of pure Goodness being released to a true hero."

Would that do-?

"What do you say, Seffy Kenshiro Anime Gryphon?"

Seffy fluttered to the Collector's hand, setting down gently on one leg. He listened to the Collector's tale. The bird was fully bought. Hook, line, and sinker. This thing the Collector mentioned...It was the true tool of a hero! It was his! It belonged to him, before he even knew its name! He'd been born into this world to receive it. He just hadn't known until now. Everything he'd done--everything that'd happened leading up to this...it was worth it to fulfill his destiny. To protect innocent souls from the evil of this world.

Seffy...Seffy was the hero this world needed! "Its me!" Seffy said, before he even realized he was talking. "I'm the hero! No evil can stop me! No evil can corrupt me! Y-yes! I'll do it!"

Seffy,s head flicked in the direction of tunnel P. Thats where he had to go, huh? He just had to take care of some birds! Seffy fluttered his wings, taking off the Collector's hand, and into the air. Seffy did a backflip in the air, landing in a superman pose on the ground after a bit of adjusting. Seffy turned around to look at the collector, his eyes sparkling.

"I won't let you down!" Still facing the Collector, Seffy took off into the air again. Except this time he did a backflip. Seffy repeated the process, backflipping to the tunnel the Collector had pointed to. Tunnel P, here Seffy came!

The Collector lowered his hand, peering after the bird as it flew off toward the tunnel.

He wondered, vaguely, how well it would fare. Parts of his tale were quite true: the Eyehooks had wound up with that damnable thing in their nest, and he truly couldn't get it back on his own very easily. He held out hope that the little bird would, against all odds, somehow manage. If it were wise, it would bring friends; but it didn't particularly strike him as wise.

Still, having it simply die in there would be such a disappointment.

The Collector moved off, and waited; one way or another, he doubted this would take very long.
