His time with the Blacksmith had been nice—and he would be back!—but he was interested in exploring with his shiny new sword, and he needed to find something to pull his sled. The sword was fastened to him by straps, one around his waist and one across his torso, hanging off of his hip in its own sheathe. In the center of the cross-guard was a piece of his chrysalis. Sam. The sword itself was cool, though. So cool in fact that he had named it Frozen Steel. It may not have been frozen, but it was steel!
He had also obtained a hooded cloak, but it was a little long for him yet. It drug in the dirt behind him and would have tatters by the time he was tall enough for it to flow nicely, but it was still useful. It made him feel safe and protected. Like the sword! Used to fight... when it is needed. He remembered the words of the Blacksmith dutifully. They were important to him, almost as important as always wear eye protection. Hah.
The first place he thought of visiting was the strange swirling thing by the waterfall in Gemini. It was not interesting before, but of all the things he had seen in this first cycle, it was the coolest thing he couldn't stop thinking about. Anyway, now he was prepared to face anything...! So he definitely wanted to revisit it and see it again.
It had taken him several days to trek from Leo back to the Rift, and after a short break by the glowing pool, he was up and facing the mysterious object with newfound courage.
Wolfwood unsheathed his sword and pointed it straight toward the rift.
"BEHOLD," he said loudly, staring into its swirling center. And that was it. He didn't have anything else planned to say. The first creature he had ever met had said that Gemini was bad, but Wolfwood was strong! And brave! Bad things couldn't stop him!

After spending a good amount of time studying the carvings, Feringar shuffled free a space around the jewelry box. They certainly didn't need this. It was cool, but it was not useful. As he opened the box to deposit the horn, Ezra came scuttling around the corner with a quick, "wait!"
His entire body slumped with the disgruntled exhale that left him. Ugh. What now?
"Let me see that," she said hurriedly, holding out her hands and curling the fingers inward several times. He placed it gently onto her hands and sighed.
"We're never going to use tha—"
"BRRRMMMPPPPppffff!" sounded the horn, followed by a fit of cackling laughter from the old witch. She handed it back to Feringar and stumbled away, doubled over with laughter.
Great. Now he was definitely tossing it—and in it went. Gooood-bye!

Mere moments after Wolfwood brandished Frozen Steel, the rift churned and groaned, and out shot a tusk. It narrowly missed the marten and skidded to a halt on the rough ground.
It is a suspiciously large carved tusk, about four feet in length: it is hollow and can be used as a horn that can be blown. On the outside is intricate carvings/details depicting tundra and ocean life, varying mountains, as well as dogs, whales, bears, and seals, and people dressed in thick furs interacting with each of these things, or the things on their own. It has a leather strap by which it can be placed on a belt loop (or for Wolfwood, worn around his body).

Maybe nothing would happen—
"AAH!" screamed Sam as he leapt out of the way. Something had come flying out of the weird swirly thing in the wall! His sword clanged against the ground as it fell; Sam was sprawled out completely with his face in the dirt, hood draping over his head. Ugh. Uungh...
AH, THE THING!?
He quickly scrambled to his feet and swung his sword around with both hands. The tusk lay mere feet from him, but it was twice his size. All of the fur on his back was stiff as bone, his tail puffed behind him. What IS that!?
"HELLO," he yelled to it, unsure of what else to do. But this was the perfect situation for WOLFWOOD! Except, after having been attacked by this thing, he felt weak in the knees. Maybe Wolfwood would be a dream he could never realize.
When it didn't reply, he felt himself swallow a big gulp of fear and he shuffled a little bit closer.
"Hello?" he called. Nothing. He got close enough to poke at it with Frozen Steel, but it did not seem alive. It had lots of weird patterns in it of things he did not recognize, and it was weirdly curved with a fat end and a skinny end. When he determined it was not a threat, he sheathed his sword and leaned forward to sniff it, brushing himself off at the same time.
Wow, it was definitely dead! It was safe to interact with! So far, anyway. He rubbed his tiny paws together and leaned in to sniff it. At least nobody had seen that encounter, that was embarrassing! For Wolfwood. Of course.
It smelled like a whole bunch of different things, and like nothing he had ever smelled in the caves. He didn't know names or meanings for them though, so he was quickly onto the next thing: sight! There was so many unfamiliar shapes and things. Animals? Water, like in Leo? He wasn't really sure, but it was very cool!!! He scuttled around to the fat end and poked his head inside—wow, all of him could fit in here! He loped in and curled around, laying so that his front paws stuck out.
"WOO," he hollered, enjoying the way his voice boomed in the tusk. Wow! He had to bring it back and show the Blacksmith!!
Sam exited the weird tube thing and slipped himself through the loop strap. It was like the ones his sword used, but it was bigger and not as... fitting. Still, he could run with it and drag the bone tube with him. Bone tube! Loud house!! Yeah! What was it really for? Who knew! But it was like a cool little home he could take with him!
