CHARON
The very mountains whisper your name...

Charon shifted from side to side, his tail whipping behind him and becoming a hazard for anyone stupid enough to walk behind him. He perked up as he heard the words outside that would announce his presence, his quills rattling in excitement.

"AAAAND NEXT WE HAVE THE FEROCIOUS, THE MIGHTY, THE FROZEN-HEARTED... JUST CHARON!"

He paused and made a nasty face, utterly offended. Just Charon! And what was all this other stuff that jerk had said- oh whatever.

He stomped into the coliseum with his teeth bared, his tail thrashing behind him as he took a running start and flew upwards, roaring down at the people below as he showed off his fantastic wings to all who would bear witness. He swooped down and landed, claws digging into the sandy turf as he shook himself out, his tail still swishing behind him.

”WELL?!”, he roared, looking expectantly around, ”BRING FORTH MY OPPONENT!!”

Charon was eager to get going, eager to shed blood across the arena floor.

"AAAND FOR HIS OPPONENT, THE..." There is a moment of silence as Nemean checks her notes. "THE UH, THE PHYSICAL, INDOMITABLE, DEMON OF CANIS, THE MASTER OF BATTLE, THE DEALER OF DEATHBLOWS, AND THE FIFTY OTHER TITLES I WAS GIVEN: KAAAAAAALAMA!"

Then, in quick succession, over dozen explosions begin. They span the known rainbow and even further beyond. From killer autumn, to vengeful chartreuse, to entropic magenta. Multicolored glitter rains in the wake, nearly as thick as a waterfall, littering the battlefield. And then, the tip tap of claws on stone can be heard.

And out of the glitter, come two rage-filled orange eyes. She steps fully into view. Kalama is utterly covered in glitter, a silver helm gleaming in spots the endless glitter cannot swallow. The hell chicken hybrid gives a brief shake, shaking off glitter, before she crows into the sky. Her eyes glare, bright orange at her opponent, before switching to Nemean.

"I ASKED FOR TERRIFYING EXPLOSIONS!" She squawks, before switching her glare back to Charon. "Well now I'm pissed, and you look like a good punching bag." Her feet scratch the sand in anticipation, and she clenches her teeth. "I've killed dragons twice your size--Dread trembles at my name! Give it your best shot!"

Charon's eye twitched. It looked like Kalama had picked the wrong dragon to boast about Dread to.

”Dread would eat you for breakfast,” he said with a hiss, ”You couldn't kill a fish if it impaled itself on your claws!”

And with that he threw himself into battle, his jaws opening as he roared, showing off rows and rows of sharp teeth as well as his sharp, dangerous mandibles. With that he lunged, raising a clawed hand to rake across Kalama's front, already despising this chicken for insulting his step-dragon.

As Kalama had picked the wrong dragon to boast to, Charon had chosen the wrong egomaniac to put down. "HUH!? DREAD COULDN'T LAY A CLAW ON ME IF HE TRIED!" She was practically a ball of glitter encrusted fury with those two sentences. In every aspect but physical, she was a tiny inferno. "SAY IT AGAIN, SAY IT AGAIN! YOU'RE DONE FOR!"

With two sentences, Charon had Kalama too enraged to even think about defense. As Charon charged to rake her with comparatively massive claws, Kalama leapt too, wings flapping in a fury, a war cry echoing. The pain and hot sensation of blood across her front only bringing her further into rage. Glitter trailed after her as she raised talons to scar his face, or however close she could get, with her talons.

Charon hissed, ”I WILL EAT YOU FOR BREAKFAST YOU DUMB CHICKEN!”

With a roar he met Kalama halfway, lunging to meet her. At her flurry of attacks he ducked his head and shoved it forward to meet her attacks. Quills were bared and all Kalama would get was a feetful of quills.

Blood ran thick down his face as he growled, claws having struck true despite his efforts, ”You've fought dragons before, have you?”

His head flew up and his ice-blue eyes flashed, ”Well... you haven't fought me.”

Kalama felt satisfaction as her feet met flesh, her killing claws slashing and enveloped in warm blood. The quills glanced off the thick scales of her feet--though some poked through the underside, and even more poked into her scale-less thighs and upper legs. All of it enough to cause her to bleed even more. But between the mixed blood and glitter inbetween, Kalama had trouble telling it was hers to begin with. If if weren't for the pain lancing her every time she moved her legs, she wouldn't have realized she was injured.

"I'm INEDIBLE!" She shouted. "Y'think you can eat me, kid? I'm the alpha You cant if I eat you FIRST!" She crowed in anger. With her new vantage point on the dragon's head, she tried to grip with her wing arms, and drive her beak into Charon's skull repeatedly. "I've-"peck"fought-" peck "more-" peck, "than you can dream of, kid!"

The plates on Charon's head prevented any damage that would truly harm, but being smashed repeatedly in the head by a drill wasn't really fun for anyone.

”I'll smash you to bits so you go down easier!! You think you're Alpha?! YOU DON'T KNOW THE MEANING OF THE WORD!”, he roared, flinging himself backward violently.

Charon hit the ground on his back, his head whipping back and slamming into the sand. Hopefully with Kalama still attached. If he was lucky, she was, and he had killed her.

Kalama felt herself fall before she realized what was happening. Charon was bringing them both down--intentionally. The rage that clouded her mind was broken by a twinge of fear. She squawked in alarm, releasing her grip of Charon's head. Not fast enough.

Her claws left Charon's head a fraction of a second before Charon slammed her into the sand. She felt something give way in her chest with a pop--no, multiple somethings, along with the spreading warmth of an injury. She coughed, fresh pain blossoming. Nearly choking on her own rage and blood, and felt deep down that whatever damage that'd done was serious.

"Y...Y'think im down? Not yet!" She said, pushing past the pain of speaking to show how she'd absolutely refuse to give in. her legs kicking the air, trying and failing to stand up again. Her tail swung, wildly all the while, the tip limp and dangling at an odd angle.

Charon felt a crack as he slammed the chicken down. Good, maybe she'd stop talking- nope, he'd thought too soon.

He rolled off and over with a hiss, trying to avoid getting blood in his eyes as he whipped around and glared at the wounded chicken. ”Don't you ever shut up?”, he growled, quills rattling.

Charon reached out with an arm and brought it down to strike, his teeth gritted in a hateful snarl.

Vedette grinned and growled in delight at the proceedings. The dragon was bleeding and the chicken was fucking smashed! If she got up from that blow the honorary valkhound would be impressed.

"GET UP, CHICKEN!", she shouted, "DON'T BE A PUSSY! FUCK THAT ASSHOLE UP!"

She grabbed one of her remaining corndogs and threw it at the two, though it was unknown if it would hit either or them. With all the garbage in the arena it didn't matter if there was one more corndog to trip on anyway.

"GO FOR THE EYES!", she screamed.
