"AND FOR OUR NEXT MATCH, WE HAVE" A pause filled by a burst of laughter, before the announcer continued, "HUMA, THE unDYING FLAME!"

Huma burst into the arena, flying laps around the outer edge as he awaited for his opponent. He REALLY didnt like how nemean seemed to find his name to be a JOKE. It was a perfectly good name and title! An excellent one, if he had to say so himself.

"My name ain't funny you tiny, yellow JERK!" He shouted up at Nemean before returning his focus to the arena (and his opponent) below.

"AND IN THE OTHER..." The gates drew open, the feline-drake stepping out with critical eyes glued to the stands, aiming to glare at whoever he recognized in them. Vargas? The desert rose? Palefur was long gone, but did he even care for her? Standing below the circling Huma, the little hybrid stood as tall as he could, his face stony with determination.

"WOLFSBANE, THE FORGOTTEN!"

A battle of names- he heard what Nemean said about Huma, after all. If he survived? Perhaps he'd need to ask someone about that. But, she liked his name, and he'd chosen it himself..! A good one, then!

But, the matchup- was it fair? Huma had wings, after all, and all he had was tough skin and a lifetime of slapstick. Teeth bared, Wolfsbane hissed up to the owl, his back arched and mane flared. "COME DOWN HERE AND GET THIS OVER WITH!" he screamed up to her, yellowed teeth snapping upwards.

Seems like he'd have trouble doing the first move, then.

Turns out her opponent was a weird looking cat-thing. 'Wolfsbane the forgotten' or whatever. He didn't know why he was 'the forgotton.' Maybe it was 'cause he was too boring to be rememberable? He certainly looked to be the boring type so far, and Huma had only just gotten one good look at him.

'COME DOWN HERE AND GET THIS OVER WITH!'

Oh. Yep. Definitely the boring type. Or at the very least the angry, impatient type.

"Alright~ Coming!" She called, the taunt evident in her voice, as she folded her wings into a dive. When she got close enough she'd open her wings, extend her talons, and attempt to sink her claws right into Wolfsbane the boring's back. And bullseye! Her talons dug right into the middle of the cat-dragon's back. Lets see how he'd like THAT!

INJURIES: Nope!

Oh, he did not like that tone. His face grew angry as his tail lashed, fur fluffed even more as he prepared himself for a dive.

There it was. With a mutilated roar-yowl, thew hit connected and scratched open purple-red wounds, the color splattering onto the sand and across Wolfsbane's back. Damn, that hurt! At least he got the bird down to his level, though, and with the short range of his claws and teeth Wolfsbane attempted to twist back around and dig into Huma's backside.

His goal? Take out the rudder- without that, most birds couldn't fly, right? He needed a way to ground the beast, so anything would help.

Even if it meant sinking your teeth into somebody's ass.

Huma grinned, but that was short lived as he felt something sharp slice into his behind and tug out tailfeathers. "OW! HEY!" He whipped around, moving his behind out of harm's way. Turns out fighting was only fun when you weren't the one getting attacked.

But violence and blood was the name of the game here! It was expected, but certainly not welcome (when Huma Himself was the recipient, anyways.)

He'd fly closer to Wolfsbane's face, trying to slap his face with his wings. Hopefully it'd stun and blind him for a bit. If not? Well, it'd look kind of hilarious for the people watching in the stands, at least! However, feathery wings aren't exactly the most effective weapon, and it'd probably do little than irritate Wolfsbane's nose.

Whatever he took out, Wolfsbane spat away in a puff. Would it be enough? When Huma whipped back, the hybrid backpedalled, all puffed up like a naked feline. Another round, then! But as Huma drew close, Wolfsbane screeched, thwacked with the tips of the owl's wings and set to shaking his head, clearing away the irritants.

Smart move! But, it meant the bird was still grounded- all the better for him.

Launching himself forward, Wolfsbane focused directly on Huma's left wing, mouth agape to bite and break whatever thin bones there were. If it connected at all, he'd bite down as hard as he could and hang on tight, ready to just throttle the hell out of poor Huma.

He'd screech as teeth connected with his wing, biting down harder and harder. Luckily not enough to break anything, but certainly enough to hurt. And interfere with flying, for that matter. Which kinda sucks when that was your main game-plan.

Right now Huma mainly cared about getting this stupid, dumb cat off of her freaking wing. She'd twist, beak snapping at Wolfsbane's face. Ears, nose, eyes- anything she could reach, really. She didn't know, or really care, what her beak hit, all she knew is that she saw more of that purple-red blood, and tasted the iron on her tongue.

It wasn't hard enough to do enough damage, but enough to draw blood- and that was good enough for Wolfsbane, for now. It did get him closer to her beak, though, and he growled gutturally as she started to cut into him. Skin ripped up and blood welled all over that side, running over his eye and draining into his ear. His lip tore, his ears were mangled, and he bit harder, defiantly twisting his head back to stare as best as he could.

He would not let go. He couldn't let go. Jerking his head back, he struggled to get Huma off his feet and fling the bird to the side, to slam them down on the ground like a dog with a rope toy.

Sure, she had struck blood, but she was still nowhere near free. Huma flapped her wings wildly, trying to tear it out of Wolfsbane's mouth. Huma was flung violently to the side, their talons flailing in the air. Okay, this needed to stop immediately.

Putting the 'death' part of deathmatch on hold, Huma focused all their energy on trying to free their wing and then get as far as possible. She tore her wing free, loosing feathers in the process, and awkwardly flutter-flail-hopped away from Wolfsbane. Looks like she was effectively grounded, or at least, far less mobile than before.

Huma's fleeing was too much for Wolfsbane to keep a hold on, and his teeth ached as the wing was ripped free. Fine. Snarling out blood that'd coalesced in his mouth, the hybrid hunkered back and flicked his tail, claws flexing into the sand below.

He was not getting away.

Launching forward, Wolfsbane aimed to land on Huma, falling short and pouncing into the sand. He'd taken too long to recover, was too hasty in the pounce- but he could still give chase! Legs outstretching, Wolfsbane tried to go around Huma and turn on her, ready to attack again.
