Nestled in the dark green of the trees lay what looked like a large chunk of golden-orange rock. This chrysalis of amber had started out quite small, no bigger than a boulder. It was as time went on, one cycle, two, ten, twenty- that it had slowly grown larger and larger in size, soon enough challenging the height of some of the shorter trees themselves.
The green dragon awoke. Where was she? What happened? It was uncomfortable in here and she wanted out. In a powerful thrust of her legs, she burst through the amber that had kept her trapped within, and tumbled onto the ground. Standing up, she accidently hit her head onto a tree branch. Ouch. She didn't remember being this tall. Or big. It was a very weird experience seeing everything from this perspective, and as she turned around to investigate, her tail uprooted a bush. She was going to have to get used to this size. Her memory was foggy, and she didn't quite remember much of anything. Her golden eyes scanned the area, and as she did so, she started to recall small bits and pieces.
Arquia. That was her name. The gembounds that she had met before were only vague figures in her mind. As her gaze landed onto a tree with a hole in its trunk, everything started flooding back. There had been a white flying thing. Her master. Just thinking of the owl sent a shiver of fear through her. And that was when she remembered what had happened. Owl kept trying to get her to fly and she didn't want to. She would run, run very very fast. She would run somewhere where she would never be found. And then she had slept. And woken up like this. What if owl would find her again? She would be punished for being gone. Panic started to set in, but upon looking at the tree for a few more seconds she realized that it was looking quite abandoned. Hesitantly walking over for further inspection, she was able to confirm that the area had not been touched in a while. Did that mean owl was gone? Her eyes narrowed, if that was true, then...
Free. She was free. But Arquia could not risk owl returning, she had to get far away from this place now, in case owl was not gone. She would figure out what to do after she was no where near here, somewhere safe. The adrenaline flowed through her, and perhaps a bit of hope. Arquia turned her back to the tree and darted through the forest, breaking branches in her path, nowhere near as nimble as she had been before. And with that, she was gone, leaving only shards of amber behind.
