He sits there on the ground. He's sore, and bruised, but nothing's broken, should Oliver inspect little Reverend. "Oww..." he whines, bringing a winged hand over his head where he hit it.

"I tried to jump... like you did," it answers, looking up at the tree above him. "It hurts... Owww..."

Sorry... is his quiet thought, looking up at Oliver with wide blue eyes.

He hustled closer, offering out a feathery wing-arm to try and pull the admittedly overly large child closer. It was a comforting gesture, a sort of one-armed hug, and his expression showed deep concern. He reached for his magic, too--just in case; a little flare of strengthening prokaryotic power might make the kid feel a little better. Inflammation, or--something. Oliver didn't know.

Meanwhile--Jump?

He eyed Reverend's wings, thinking. "...You will probably be able to fly? Eventually," he explained, "but that'll take practice, okay?" They'd need to find someplace sort of high up for that, he thought. With water under. Assuming he can swim. -We'll have to check.

Oliver smiled, trying to be reassuring: "You'll probably fly better than me!" Really, he himself could only manage strong jumps and glides. Reverend looked like those wings might actually work.

"We can practice, some time, if you want--did you... still want to try and play, or?"

He hesitated, worry still in his eyes as he looked Reverend over yet again.

Hopefully he wasn't really hurt...

The bruises aren't too bad - they'll hurt for a while, but thanks to Oliver's magic they'll shouldn't complicate any further. Reverend nuzzles further into his life-giver's side hug, curling up under his wing."Mhmm... this is better," he murmurs, closing its eyes.

It listens to Oliver's words. Flying... sounds. Nice. His musings are quiet, as it opens his eyes again and looks up into Oliver's eyes. "Maybe another time," Reverend decides.

He thinks a little. Playing seems nice, but he's so sore... "Let's just... rest," he answers, running a claw through Oliver's fur.

Rest. That sounded fine. He smiled a little, still worried, but tried his best to dismiss that and instead, curl down into a still, quiet ball of feathers and fur for Reverend to sleep against.

It didn't occur to him that it was becoming clearer that the influence of Magnolet, he might not make the best of parents. Saying 'no' was virtually beyond him. Reverend would be spoiled, beyond a doubt, with Oliver going well out of his way to do whatever the child wished. Whether Reverend came with his own sense of discipline would make the difference, really, as to whether Oliver raised a kind child who imitated his own kind respectfulness, or a growing violet tyrant. He'd lay out careful boundaries and warnings for the kid's own safety, sure, but when it came to saying no-?

Oliver was literally incapable.

For now, though, that didn't seem to matter. Playing games, hunting, resting--these were perfectly normal activities for a child, certainly nothing to say no to at all, anyway. So Oliver just curled up, nudging Reverend affectionately. "Sure," he agreed, mild and gentle as ever. "You sleep, okay? I'll sleep too," he assured him, "but first I'll keep an eye out, for awhile. You'll be safe," he added.

He sort of wished that they were back at the den. No doubt Venari would have kept them both safe, and he could have drifted right to sleep too, but... truth be told he wasn't all that tired, yet. The thrill of Reverend's hatching would keep him awake, buzzing with amazement, for awhile yet.

"If I'm asleep when you wake up, wake me up too, okay?" he requested. He never wanted to leave Reverend alone, or lost. He wasn't gonna be that kind of parent, at least.

Nuzzling against Oliver's wing, he purrs, "Yes... rest... let's rest." Reverend would be safe with Oliver. That was good, and it was right, and it was how it was now.

A large yawn comes from his jaws, showing off rows of white shining teeth. It only lasts a moment, and before long it closes its eyes, leaning against Oliver.

It doesn't take long for Reverend to fall asleep, all the adventures of their first day being exhausting for a newly hatched Gembound.

Exit Reverend
