Sprig had wandered over to Cepheus, mostly because he wanted to find new plants that could be brought over the his garden in Eridanus. He had never been this cave before, and noted that it all seemed rather empty. In the sense that there was not the abundance of plants that he had expected. Everything just seemed so neat. Pristine. Well-kept. As if all of Cepheus were a garden and not wilderness. Perhaps it was.
There was a lot of noise coming from the direction of the palace, and Sprig quickly bounded over to investigate what could be going on. Eventually, a large group of gembounds surrounding a white and rainbow colored dragon? came into sight. This scene vaguely reminded him of the other large gathering he had been to, although that one had been in Orion, and had much different attendants. He knew none of the animals here.
The lion had arrived just in time to listen to the task that was given out. Seemed simple enough! And he wanted to help too. "Dye, feathers, fur. I should be able to do that." he mumbled to himself. The other items were out of his expertise to acquire. Dyes would be simple, just find a couple of plants then crush them for the pigment. Feathers and fur were already part of his every day life. He needed to hunt for food after all, he could save the remnants and bring them here.
"I'll be back." And with that, he left to collect the needed items.

"Yeah, sounds good," Imp answered, eyeing Mimosa up and down. It was an offhand, almost absent remark. But he did intend to help.

It was just that the "painter" was trying to figure out if Mimosa was somehow his competition. This stranger belonged to the Palace? Then why hadn't he ever seen them before? Were they gonna compete for dyes and paints? For Aethril's favor?!

His eyes (ha, he had eyes now. That was always such a cool revelation!) narrowed. But... eh.

He was pretty secure in his place. He had a bunch of artistic ideas lined up, and anyway, the idea of Custom Clothes was interesting to him now. He could get, like... a hat? A painter's hat. What would that even look like?

He didn't know.

Maybe a cloak? With like, a wrap-around scarf thing? That seemed like a neat idea. Plus, he was just a nice guy, now. He'd help out for free! ...Probably.

"I'll be back, too. I'll see if I can get you some dyes; I am The Painter of The Palace, after all!" He looked around imperiously again, just to drive the point home--to make sure that EVERYBODY present, even that tiny bird who'd--oh, they'd just left. Well, anyway, EVERYONE should know how important he was!

So nobody tried ripping out his eyes again!

He turned, and with a dramatic flourish of feathers and fins, made his way out. For now.

Imp swept back in a few hours later--with a flourish, of course. He bowed, then set his basket down so he could speak. "I, Imp the PAINTER of the PALACE, have brought you a shit-ton of dye!" He said this very proudly.

Nestled within the cloth (so that they wouldn't break) inside the basket were a full set of dye colors in little bottles. There were black, white, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple dyes, along with a half-empty bottle of metallic gold paint.

As a painter, he'd learned to gather and grind his own pigments; he'd have to find some more spare bottles, now, for his own dyes, but this would (he figured) be enough for Mimosa to start with, at the very least. It wasn't a lot of each color, but... it existed. So that was something.

"And whenever you're ready I want a PAINTER'S cloth. Uh. A hat or a scarf or a cape or--all three! In one!"

That seemed cool, right?

The task has been given. The Tailor, Mimosa, seems a nice enough fellow. And it gives him an excuse to leave Cepheus, to look for something new. The Flock stirs on his back, sensing his eagerness to explore.

"We will be back. I will return when I find what you're looking for."

After a while, the little cockatiel returned. Their beak and claws were as full of Peridot shards as they could manage. Said shards they deposited in front of the Tailor.

Once their beak was empty they chirped excitedly at the other being. "Nymph brought gem shards from their own hatch site! Nymph hopes they help you, Mimosa!" The little bird already adored the Tailor who had let them perch on a hand.

Then again, it wasn't hard to get Nymph to adore someone. Nymph adored the giant being that had helped them find their hatch site as well.

It didn't occur to Nymph to request anything for helping, but they would be pleasantly received if they did receive something.

Despite her polished mannerisms, someone observant might have noticed the rough touch of greed upon Miriam's movements. Eyes had peeled away from the bird and their only defining feature (at least the only one which mattered to her), that captivating piece of peridot, with no small bit of reluctance. The slight jerkiness of her head as it swiveled back to the distressed being who had drawn her here should have been the main sign of elaborate paint chipping away to reveal cold unfeeling stone beneath. But perhaps fortune could be found in the appearance of that uncouth beast claiming to be the palace's artist: his bold presentation stole the show away even from a slithering titan such as her.

Interestingly enough, the curl of black lips over fangs could barely be repressed as she listened to him crow about importance and pledge himself to the current cause. Try as she might, why this was could not be fully fathomed. Size couldn't be the issue, as he measured a mere fraction of her grand expanse. Neither could good looks, of course.

And yet... something about him threatened her—she who had no natural enemies. His status?

The rumble building in her throat emerged as a purr though once thanks was given to her by Mimosa, the bow accepted with a small nod and another demure smile plastered to her face. And her attention was fully seized by the details of the Tailor's predicament, the rewards promised undeniable in their allure.

"Oh, you needn't go to such lengths for me," she simpered, "but if you insist, I'll order the most beautiful piece I can think of once you're well-supplied. To commemorate your return!"

"Now, what should I do?" Claws tapped together, and Miriam affected a contemplative squint, her actual plan of action already decided upon. "I could get... Oh, yes!" Fidgeting ceased. A single claw pointed up, signaling a revelation. "That will do nicely!"

No clarification made, the Tatzelwurm swung her bulk around, the effort made arduous by the crowd. Work-adverse as she was, this shouldn't swallow up too much of her precious relaxation time. When it came to gathering materials, though the phrase might not be the most apt, she'd figured out a way to take out two birds with one stone.

The sound of beating wings and aliens chittering heralds Fulgur's return. He slowly sets himself down on the stone walkway, far enough away that his wings wouldn't hit anyone. With his claws he then clambers a little closer, to give Mimosa his gifts.

He drops the moonstone and the garnet on the floor, somewhat wet from being in his mouth but otherwise no worse for wear. The Flock sets their scrap of scaled hide and feathers down next to the gems, before settling on Fulgur's back again.

"It's not much... but I hope you can do something with it."

Suddenly, a dragon with antlers landed nearby, being very careful to avoid squishing any of the smaller gembounds. They looked at the one everyone else was giving items to, and they assumed that was the Tailor that Nymph had spoken of.

Carefully, they deposited ten feathers in front of the other being, and then they spoke to the one they believed correctly to be the Tailor. "Hello, I am Cadenza. Are you Mimosa? Nymph told me you were in need of assistance."

"I am not quite sure what a Tailor does, but I searched for feathers for you. I hope you like them," Cadenza stated in their musical tone.

She'd lingered for a brief few moments at the tailor's announcement, waiting for more information (and slightly cowed by the sheer amount of other Gembound, most of which were bigger than her). But eventually it'd sunk in that—right, yes, this was important, and she was here to help, and she probably had to help quickly! So off the little wolf had gone, running as fast as her little four paws could carry her.

Now she was back, and in her mouth was a small collection of hellswan feathers.

She couldn't particularly speak, with feathers in her mouth, but that was alright. She could make herself known without having to speak. She did so as such: approaching the tailor a bit carefully (as she always was around those bigger than her), she sat down primly in front of their large frame, tilting her head back to display the feathers in her mouth.

And also the new flowers blooming from the side of her neck, slightly obscured by her fur—two small, red roses that definitely hadn't been there before.

She realizes that perhaps the tailor might not see that they're supposed to pick the flowers. After a brief moment's deliberation, she carefully lowers her head to lay the feathers on the ground in front of them.

"You can take the flowers,"" she says, tilting her head to the side a little so it would be easier for the tailor to retrieve them. "I grew them for you."

"I'm back!" Voice light and airy, Miriam sounded on the verge of bursting into a cheerful melody as she slithered her way back onto the premises.

If one had only her demeanor here to rely upon and wasn't privy to the events of just a couple hours ago, the good spirits could have been genuine. Arms loaded with enough feathers to stuff a pillow or two, she certainly had ample reason to be in such a positive mood. More so when the pile was gingerly placed on the palace floor and two gemstones plucked from where they rested on its top, held up by the Tatzelwurm to show off their unique shapes.

"I do hope the quality meets your expectations," she said, returning them to their spot and patting them in place. "I took extra care to not damage anything upon removal."

Miriam has brought the feathers of a caroller and a rainbow spinner along with their stones. Thread here.
