She would be much too slow if she landed and followed it on foot, not that she had feet. Arquia didn't want to continue flying, her reservations about this whole thing still prevalent, but the option of running through the jungle and not being able to keep up was much worse. Her size would slow her down, not to mention flying was just inherently faster than running.
The most she could do for now was just to try and continue tracking it or... try to dive bomb it again. End the chase. This mostly came down to whether she wanted to attempt something that didn't work the first time, and risk hitting a tree in the dive, or play it safe. Yeahhhh she decided not to do something that risky again. If Aran was having troubles she would attempt to body slam that thing again, but for now, she would try to keep up.

The poor thing isn't having a good time. Aran follows based on the racing heart he hears, barely dodging trees and ferns to keep running. He can't look up to see how the dragon is doing, but there hasn't been a crash or a yell so far so she must be doing just fine. The smell of her blood is still on his nose - he'll figure out a way to help her later.

Gotta keep it going. Not much further now. Surely they'll track it until it dies or gets too far.

For long, exhausting minutes the Deinocornus weaved this way and that, streaking along familiar paths--places it had lounged as a hatchling, chasing butterflies; places it had learned to hunt, had fought, had bellowed at and scuffled with rivals. It knew this place.

It should have been safe, here.

But the longer it ran, the more weary it grew. It was not a creature built for long-distance sprints, but for short, powerful ambushes. And this sickness tore it down, fever rising, limbs aching. It might, even, have outrun its pursuers in the short term were it not limping to begin with, one leg throbbing with pain.

So, at last, the Deinocornus crashed into a bush, tumbling into a shallow hollow cradled by rock--guarded from behind by stone, shielded by foliage, but all in all, a dead end.

There it lay, gasping, its hanging jaws flashing distressed blue and dripping with sickness, blinking dazedly.

When it heard its pursuers--unshakeable--still approaching, it struggled to scramble back up, to face them, hissing weakly, frantic fear in its eyes.

A cornered beast, then: but a weakened one.

Her eyes tracked the dinosaur as she watched from above, though the thick foliage made this a difficult task. At several points she thought she had lost it for good, but then it would appear for a moment, and the pursuit would continue. But when the creature crashed into a bush, ending the chase, Arquia came to the realization that she had to actually land. That. May be a problem.
Alright, deep breaths now. She found a spot among the trees that was a large enough hole for her to enter through the canopy. The dragon circled around this spot as she thought about how she was to do this. Just dive through? No, that didn't really work. She would just crash. How did birds do it? She was descending as she thought about all this, she needed to make a quick decision.
Dropping into a steeper dive, she descended through the hole, wings clipping some of the tree branches. Anddd success! Sort of. Arquia had managed to land on a bed of thick undergrowth that broke the fall. If she hadn't, it was very possible she could have broken a bone or two.
She didn't allow herself to be dazed for long. The dragon quickly got up and placed herself at the entrance of the hollow the Deinocornus was hiding in, guarding to make sure it did not escape. "Here!" Arquia called out, wanting to make sure Aran could find where it was.
Arquia was still trying to come to terms with the fact that she had just flown. Solid ground had never felt so good.

Still following after Arquia and the creature, he really hopes his tracking lasts that long. It's making enough noise to make it easy enough to follow without the Red Sense, but the spell makes it so much easier to follow the dinosaur's heartbeat to track it down.

When he spots Arquia land, the barasingha dashes to the location. The poor creature is heaving, sickness dripping from its mouth. The poor thing looks a few minutes from death - he feels bad. Aran really does. Something inside is telling him that this is a good thing, that for some odd reason killing this innocent creature is the correct way to go. His morals are telling him it's a mistake. That the two of them shouldn't be going around killing things that probably have their own thoughts. Clearly it has its own feelings. Everything can communicate somehow.

The bird's eyes make the blood known, his racing heart going somewhat ignored by himself. He'll calm down later. For now, the two of them are going to collect that stone. Maybe he'll give it life so it has another chance... Would that be immoral of him?

He tries to conjure up his magic, in hopes the spell doesn't fail this time.

Aran leaves Arquia to deal with whatever's left of the creature, he's not suited to fights close-corners like this. He feels his magic activate, sending the spell to the dragon. Some of her wounds seal closed, scabbing over as they would with time - Aran however. He feels the skin on his throat puncturing, blood forming at the wounds. It'll do for now.

It stuttered down, body failing, tipping onto its side and then back up--but its jaws still gaped, glowing, in hissing threat. Should Arquia enter physical combat range, it would lunge for her--jaws clamping for her head, to squeeze and crush in a last-ditch effort to save its own life.

Though terrified, its eyes were fixed on her bloody wounds, on her head, her face. Adrenaline was high--it was ready to strike.

If Arquia enters physical combat range, the Deinocornus will attempt to bite down on her skull. If she does not, this roll can be disregarded.

Her eyes stay fixed on the Deinocornus, knowing that it wasn't wise to look away even if it seemed like the fight was already won. She hears Aran arrive, and feels the pain in her neck fade away. How was that possible? She knew not of magic that could heal, or did it merely numb the pain? But she could not check at the moment. Arquia wanted to end this as quickly as possible. She did not want to see it suffer any longer. But as the dragon neared to land a killing blow, the Deinocornus lunged forwards.

Her reflexes kicked in, knocking it aside with her arm. If that landed, she would've been severely injured she realized. Or dead. The dinosaur could not be underestimated, even when it was in this state. Arquia used this opportunity to try and aim for a strike to its neck. Quick and painless. Well, obviously not painless. It had been suffering throughout this entire hunt. Quick at least. Put an end to its misery.
Aaaand she missed. "Deer! Assistance is needed!" She did not know that gembounds name, or even if she did, she was in the heat of the moment and no names were coming up in her brain. Hopefully they could kill it fast enough that it wouldn't attempt a counter attack.

[TW: Brief description of anxiety]

He watches the scaled-creature rear up for another adrenaline filled attack. Always focused on Arquia, he wonders if he should try to distract the dangerous lesser by intercepting the attack - but no, that would cause his death.

He hears her call for help, and does not know what to do.

"I can only use magic!" He yells back, trying to be nice but betraying his terror.

He pulls a shallow breath in, a shallow one out. His chest hurts. The Barasingha's legs are trembling - his instincts are telling him to run. He should bolt out of here, preserve his own safety and leave the dragon for dead. Why should he care about some unnamed stranger?

He grits his molars. No. No he can't do that. What kind of gembound would he be if he didn't at least try?

The confused, rushed tangle of violence--a lunge, a block, claws scrabbling in leaves, a strike that struck a muscled neck before glancing away--gave way a moment later to wheezing, to the Deinocornus half-collapsing, to bubbles of snot popping from its nostrils and dribbling downward.

A thread of blood, despite no injury, trailed from its jaws to join saliva and mucus dripping to the earth below. Keen blue eyes that had been struggling to focus on Arquia slid downward, glazing; flanks heaved with effort.

The creature lay dying, indeed suffering, but it seemed that--despite its best efforts--it had nothing left with which to fight.

It lay helpless.

The Deinocornus can be safely killed by Arquia; she will find its neck too well-muscled to break, but other methods may work. A roll is not required.
