Mimosa relaxed more and more, the smile on their serpentine face broadening, with each Gembound that returned.
The dyes from Imp were set carefully in a little row. The gemstone shards, from Nymph, were gratefully piled next to these, with a relieved little sigh; and when Fulgur brought even more, these were inspected with an approving smile and set beside those. The beautiful collection of bright feathers were taken with a gasp. And flowers plucked from Eden's fur--carefully--and settled to one side, along with the gathered white feathers. Ahh--and here was Miriam, last of all, bringing in feathers and shining stones.
"Perfect..." they murmured, and looked over the collection. "There is only one thing missing... cloth!" They pondered this, for a moment. They needed, still, some form of cloth to work with as a base. "Everything else will make for fine decor, but I still need a base for the clothing... Wait here, would you? And think of what you'd like me to create for you for your reward!"
Surely there had to be some kind of spare cloth in the palace, right..? At least for now?
After about twenty minutes, a triumphant Mimosa returned with arms full of silk and cotton. It was mostly old curtains and the like--well-kept, but hardly brand new. But! For these Gembounds, at least they could make something. And with the dyes, the stones and feathers, there would be plenty to go around!
"All right... these will take some time to complete," they began, "but please let me know what you'd each like as your reward! Hats or a dress? A blouse, or a cloak? I can do anything you'd like, and all in the latest styles!"
They paused. Latest styles? Just how long, though, had they been asleep..?
Oh well. Once they were done, anything they made would be the style! They were just that good!
Gembounds are invited to put in their tailoring requests here! Mimosa will get to work on them right away.
In the meantime, anyone else who delivers more supplies are welcome to also make a request in their post.
In the future, Gembounds can approach the Tailor with a request, and they will tell the Gembound what will need to be retrieved in order for their item to be created! Some ingredients may be quite exotic...

Nymph paused to think this offer over when Mimosa returned. It was rare for them to pause and truly think.
They had helped just to help, really. But... It would be rude to deny this offer, they decided.
"...Nymph wants something pretty that can worn around Nymph's neck, maybe? But Nymph needs to be able to fly still!" The little bird suggested at last after truly thinking it over. They didn't know what the options named were, exactly. So they made something up.

Cadenza felt a bit bad asking for an item, when they had not even known there was a reward. They were very happy that the Tailor liked the feathers they found, though. "You do not have to give me anything," The hybrid demurred at first.
"But, it you truly wish to make an item for me... I would not be opposed to a colorful feather cloak?" They tentatively added. They had grown fond of feathers during their search.
"But, you do not have to! I know I am very big, and it might be too difficult to make such an item for me. You do not have to make anything at all, truly! It is up to you what you make, if you make, truly," Cadenza reassured Mimosa.

Jeez, these people were so polite! Imp pushed forward, impatiently and loudly. "I am the palace ARTIST," he reminded everyone, with unnecessary volume. "So I would like something suited to an artist! A hat, or a scarf, or a cape! You can decide what's most suited," he added primly, sitting stiffly upright.
Then... it was time to wait. He fidgeted, a little, now not from impatience but excitement. Truth be told, Imp had absolutely no idea what a proper artist should dress like, and had no idea if the Tailor would create him a colorful scarf, or an artist's painting beret, or what!
He did know he couldn't wait to see it.

Eden exhales a little, softly, as the Tailor plucks the two red roses from her fur. It doesn't hurt much; just a little, and it's more uncomfortable than anything as she feels the tug of the flowers' roots beneath her skin. She hadn't expected it to hurt at all, though, and she cranes her neck in a fruitless attempt to look at the spots they were, a little discomforted.
But it's worth it, though, to hear the way the Tailor breathes the word perfect.
It is perfect, isn't it? She helped make it so. Her and the rest of the Gembound gathered to help. And with their help, the Tailor is going to make something pretty. Clothes. Clothes for all of them! Clothes for... her.
But wait, what kind of clothes are there? What clothes exist? A pup as young as Eden hardly knows! She stares and she stares at the palace floor, sat obediently as she waits for the Tailor's return, but—she can't figure out what she wants if she doesn't know the options to begin with!
The Tailor returns, and all around her the Gembound begin to pipe up with what they want. A hat! A scarf! Something to decide! Eden thinks, and she thinks, but all she knows is that she wants something pretty. And as she's learned, the world can be pretty in many, many ways.
The Tailor had mentioned a few different kinds of clothes, hadn't they? Hats or a dress... blouse or a cloak... Eden doesn't know what any of those are, really, but she likes the sound of them.
She likes the sound of the word 'cloak' especially, and so her mind settles on that. "I'd like a cloak!" she pipes up. "Something pretty... and flowy... and pretty. Oh—can you make it look like a flower? Like a red flower?" Like in the garden! The red ones are always her favorite, how they match her stone... "So it'll be extra pretty!"
In Eden's eye, this was a very good request indeed; so good, in fact, that her tail begins to wag, thumping on the floor in excitement.

Try as she might to be a Gembound of particular refinement, some signs of sophistication Miriam simply could not replicate by mannerisms alone. Ignorance to palace rules could only be concealed so much by practiced poise and attentive ears. Lacking extensive knowledge of fashion, even less. It was to be expected of a creature of her nature, born outside civilization, to flounder in the face of a world very different from the primitive one where the strong trounced the weak. A self-determined aesthete, she endeavored against that outcome, refusal to break character a challenge welcomed with a sunny, though deliberately small, smile.
"You're too kind," came the typical praise, each syllable which left her maw steeped in honey. "And, oh, so many options to consider! But I think I've narrowed them down at last, agony as that was. I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job to bring my vision to life."
Paw raising to hover over the top of her head, she indicated the entirety of her body in a single downward sweeping gesture.
"As you can tell, my shape is well-suited for winding and weaving, and—much as I dread to say it—far too long for a dress to not be an inconvenience. Capes as well, especially if I were to climb anything, would be more trouble than any fondness for them would be worth. So I've decided a mantle of sorts fits best my needs, perhaps with a hood to shield my eyes from rainfall.
"And how lovely it'd be if it could sparkle! Like dewdrops. Or little jewels draped over my shoulders."

Glad they approved of what I got them, Fulgur thinks to himself, smiling as the Tailor takes inventory. It wasn't much compared to what some of the others had brought, but it had been enough.
He thinks to himself as the Tailor scurries off. What did he want? Hm... maybe.
Maybe something handy? He'd struggled carrying the items back. His mind decided, he speaks up, "I'd like a satchel. One I could carry trinkets and other things in."

They listened, humming, nodding, and smiling affirmatives to each request. They whipped out a long measuring tape, measuring everybody here and there, their little helpers marking notations on a scrap of cloth as they dictacted swift notes. "Please," they said, at last, sweeping one arm in open invitation toward the Palace, "enjoy the Palace's many amenities whilst you wait! This will take some hours. Perhaps a theatre film, or one of Nedies's midday tea meals?" they chirped. And then--looking suddenly a little worried--"Is Nedies still alive..?"
Mimosa cast this thought aside with a shake of their head, and went to work! Their little friends aided them. Birds threaded needles; another's scissor-like beak went snick-snick-snick through fabrics in smooth lines. Gemstones were bored by chiselled teeth, and feathers woven by tiny paws.
Some hours later, everything was done, laid out on a Palace bench in the gardens! Mimosa waited, excited to display their end results. It had been so long since they'd worked, but--they thought it'd all come out quite lovely, really! As each Gembound came to collect, they'd present their reward, again thanking everyone for their help.
Nymph would be given a beautiful little choker collar of filigreed gold and silver cloth and thread, matching their gray and yellow colors with finely woven elegance. It was shaped to frame their gemstone, with tinier green stones dotting around it in a little ring!
Cadenza would be granted a lovely cloak indeed--one that could be clasped in several places along their neck and waist, if they so wished, so as not to interfere with wings or flip over their head in flight! It was carefully tailored to their size, and was a cascade of gradient feathers: flowing silvery white down into gold and then flaming orange, as if its tip had caught fire. "It really brings out your eyes," Mimosa offered, happily.
Imp, after some thought, had a hat created for him: a beret of iridescent 'sequins' (shards of gemstone, really) that seemed to change hue depending on the direction they were facing. A little cloth-covered 'button' sat atop its puffy structure, and an interior rim kept it stable. But alone, the hat would have simply fallen away, or gotten in the way of the spines atop Imp's head: so it was designed to slid over his horns, with two holes that could be tightened around them to keep it in place even in flight. They demonstrated, nodding. Perfect for an artist.
Eden's request was met with excited nodding. And when she returned, she'd be presented with a gorgeous cape: one flowing with white faux fur, with bright crimson threading around its borders. A pattern took up the lower left quadrant of the cloak: an embroidered flower, matching thir gemstone almost exactly in various shades of scarlet. The cloak's clasp, likewise, was a red loop and hook, but the hook was decorated with another little red flower carved from red garnet.
Miriam would be given a beautiful little cloak: shoulder-length, one that flared out and could be clasped at throat and chest to keep it tightly around her body. The hood, too, could be drawn in by a string to tighten it. Its fabric was gilded gold, gleaming with little translucent gems studded in whirling, natural-looking patterns along it. The interior was a dark, rich brown-black cloth that matched their skin between the scales. And it could be reversed, if Miriam did not mind tiny stones against their skin. Mimosa would show them how: flipping it around, the golden clasps would tighten it the other way, with the darker, plainer fabric as its exterior--but with that same gold thread along its edges.
Lastly was Fulgur's reward: a beautifully embroidered satchel, one that could loop across their large body and be adjusted as they grew. It held a top flap that would hook around its own loop to close, and a side pocket too; several hidden pockets inside could help to separate their items. The entire thing was made of cloth, so it was not waterproof; but it was beautiful, woven in a pattern of iridescent blues and pinks in a mix of brighter and darker shades that matched their body precisely.
Mimosa, the Tailor is now fully unlocked! Gembound may visit their studio at any time to request personalized items. Mimosa will require various materials be gathered for each.
[Quest] Spun Silk is now concluded. Characters may exit as they see fit!
An achievement will be created and dispensed within the week!

Imp went and enjoyed a coffee.
Coffee was new to him. He was really, really bad with it. He'd guzzle down a mug full, then go absolutely apeshit racing around the Palace, "cleaning" anything he saw out of place before rushing off to his "studio" to paint.
So when he came flapping out now, it was with overly-bright eyes and a twitchy, hyperactive demeanor. "HEY! Hey! Shit's done? Nice, nice! Lemme see--OH SHIT that's awesome! I'm gonna have to get more of this! That's great, what'd you--oh, it fits over my HORNS? Does it just stay--it STAYS THERE WHEN I FLY! FUCKING AWESOME! Fuck yeah. I'm the ARRRR-TEEEST. Look at this shit," he went on (tilting his head toward anyone who would glance his way). "Look how good this is! Mimosa, you're the best," and he tilted onto one foot, lifted the other, kissed his own knuckles and blew the kiss toward the Tailor.
"Right, I gotta get back to work. Cetus ain't gonna paint itself. But let me know if you ever need more dye!"
someone answer him so i can get one more post in for a long claim oh my god 29
