Uhunzi had grown to be almost a hermit of a person. Somehow, the tamarian hadn't met anything resembling sentient life other than rabbits that ran away from him when he approached one. He spent most his days in the trees of Eridanus with a stone cold vow not to leave the area. He had kept to this for an entire cycle.

But today? From his favourite branch in his favourite tree, he stared at the entrance to tunnel H. He hadn't found the other exit leading to I, but this one he had kept an eye on it. Once or twice in the past he sat by it, feeling the faint cold that came out from the entrance, but never did he dare actually enter. He slowly climbed down the tree until his feet were on the moss that covered the cave floor and with hesitation, he headed towards tunnel H.

But he did not enter.

He sat down quietly, tail swaying to and fro on the ground as he looked into the cold tunnel. He sat there for a horribly long time, in silence. He simply stared down, gazing at the cave ground, locating where water dripped from off the ceiling. The longer he sat, the colder he got, but he didn't mind much.

"Sheesh," he muttered to himself at last as he got back up, turning to move away from the tunnels and back towards the tree he previously sat in, beginning to climb the trunk towards his branch. The moment he perched on the branch, he lifted his hands to take a mango down from the leaves above, gazing at it before he bit into it.

Everything is hard before it is easy.

Athena was enjoying her self-proclaimed day off. Off from.. going places, yeah. She decided that was a good enough thing to take a break from, although she had to admit she was tempted to go to Orion to train. A whine tumbled from the pup's lips as she debated with herself. She was feeling really lazy - too lazy to go to Orion but energetic enough to be wanting to train. Eventually, Athena decided to just stay in Eridanus and only train her smoke-spell (Char) for fear of setting fire to the forest she so dearly loved.
Rising into a standing position with a sigh, the Alaskan Malamute focused on the heat in her chest and expanded it to warm her whole body.

Instead of her whole body starting to heat up and generate thick clouds of stinky black smoke, Athena coughed some light gray smoke up and that was it. The smoke rose out of the trees and vanished near the ceiling. "Oh maaaaaan!" The puppy groaned, falling back to sit on her butt; pouting. "Why isn't it working now?" She asked herself, paws thrumming on the ground in audible frustration. Athena was obviously quite displeased.


"Listen to me."

The tamarin had barely even begun to chew on his mango when he heard a strange voice somewhere nearby. He leaned over on his branch, fruit in hand, noisily and messily chewing the juicy flesh. Upon not seeing the source, he shuddered and swallowed, beginning to concentrate.

The green, flat gem on his hand began to glimmer emerald as he looked around - yet, abruptly, he saw nothing but black. The little tamarin squealed and flailed, first dropping the mango in his hand and then ungracefully falling off the branch himself, tumbling down onto the ground below.

Luckily, the branch wasn't too high up off the ground and except for a little bump on his head, he was perfectly fine. Uhunzi lay for a moment, still blinded, before he began to see again. He saw the cave wall nearby, and the moss below him. Slowly, he got up with a groan.

Athena's frustration was only fueled when a half-eaten mango fell on her head, momentarily catching the pup off-guard. "HEY!" She protested loudly, stepping aside and inspecting the fruit with a mean glare. It was no use though, the fruit offered no words of consolation or any trace of an apology. The canine growled, only for the noise to turn into a loud gasp when the fruit's fall was followed by the fall of another gembound.

The pup jumped back, wide eyed and staring at the stranger. "You almost fell on me!" She exclaimed, cocking her head as she watched the other find their balance again. Athena found them to be a curious creature unlike any she'd seen before. The gembound didn't look like Delphine, Mojag, Niru & Anux nor like her or the white pup from Polaris. "Who are you?" The canine then asked, interested in the stranger now. "I'm Athena." Suddenly, she had to think about Prince Adeyemi's and her encounter and that they were quite alike. It seemed that the Alaskan Malamute puppy had a tendency to appear where others fell out of trees. Hopefully that wouldn't happen again in the future, otherwise Athena might have a problem with forming lasting relationships.
