He didn't even mean to fall asleep. he'd been planning, certainly, for new beginnings in his little home, which had been becoming slightly cramped. he loved the family that had come to take shelter in his den, the beds carved into his walls, well loved, covered in flowers (all thanks to bebby), with signs of life. it brought his heart so much joy, but he wouldn't deny the fact it had been cramped, most of the creatures save for a few living here much bigger than himself, and the roof threatened, every so often, to crumble with the continuous renovations.

he was stressed, certainly, but passionate. he was just tired, is all. he found himself drifting into sleep just as he had brewed himself another cup of tea.

the next time he opened his eyes, he was greeted with a sight he had not seen in many, many cycles. the near opaque walls of a jade chrysalis, his body uncomfortable and wet, and his lungs full of liquid the moment he inhaled for the first time in 2 weeks.

Something felt wrong, though. sure, last he was in here it was uncomfortable, but it was because he had just began existing. maybe it was just the position? no, definitely not, as he noted the paws of which he pushed against the jade were no longer just paws.

as the walls of his chrysalis gave way and he came spilling outward, noting with a dismayed "ugh.." at the now muddy floor, the first thing he saw as he glanced at his body, was it was longer, and his legs, both front and back, were now longer and in different placements than he was used to. he could move them just fine, nothing was broken, and he noted with fascination the leg scar from the unfortunate sea lion attack had completely faded, fur now covering the part that used to be gnarled in pinks and reds.


he looked up at a shuffling sound behind him. Tori, sniffing him wildly, seemed quite distressed.
"dad!! you're awake!! oh wow, what happened to you?! you look like banshy!!"

he thought, idly and with amusement, that he sorta did. he put a now elongated paw on his daughters face in comfort, leaning on an elbow. "ah, i'm fine, my dear, don't worry! just a change is all! heh, i'll tell you i've never slept better." he said with glee, using her as a crutch to hoist himself up as she offered such, smiling. "come, tell me what i missed while i get my bearings."
