He had been to Pegasus before. That time it had also been for a rather large event, though the details of it were fuzzy in his mind. His long hibernation in his chrysalis had obscured many of his past memories. He had returned to Eridanus to collect his sled before heading back here, to Pegasus. It was much closer to Cepheus, and also it certainly did get a bit boring wandering around the same cave all the time. And it wasn't like Pegasus lacked plants either. The sled he pulled behind him glided across the grass, though it quickly encountered some trouble once he hit forest. Unfortunate. Sprig left it secured to a rock, ensuring it wouldn't somehow glide away, before continuing on his own into the trees. He wouldn't wander too far. As soon as he collected what he needed he could just return to store it in the sled.

He had not been here for a long time. It was strange to be back, and it seemed like things had changed, yet also remained so familiar. Sprig decided that he should collect one of every colored dye to allow for a variety of choices. Just like food needed a lot of different possible flavors to be tasty, tailoring required a lot of colors to achieve the desired affect. He knew that much at least, even though he did not specialize in clothing. Anyway, there was a list of the colors he needed that ran through his mind. Pink, red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, purple, grey, black, and white. Just thinking of all the dyes he had to make was hurting his head. This could be an day long expedition at worst.
Focus. This needed to be done anyway, and it would also give him good practice with making dye should he need the experience in the future. Hm... would it be possible to dye food? Make it colorful? He archived this thought in his mind for later.
First color was pink. This should be rather simple. All he needed was to find pink berries, and though they weren't incredibly abundant, it wasn't like they were rare either.

Sprig was lucky, he found the berries nearly immediately, harvesting them from the bush and bringing them back to the sled where he had brought stone bowls to create the dye and store them in. He placed them into a bowl before returning to the same bush to gather a few more to completely fill it up. Great. Now all he had to do was crush the berries. It was incredibly similar to cooking, so the task couldn't be too hard, right?
Since it was his first time really doing this, it didn't turn out quite as perfect as he hoped. There were still a few chunks and it wasn't done all the way through, but it was good enough. Perhaps once he got more experience his skills would improve.

Inventory:

The next color would be red. Red berries would suffice, and were rather easy to spot too among the green foliage. Sprig glanced over the container holding the pink dye for a few more seconds to make sure it was secure in the sled and wouldn't tip over before proceeding once again into the forest.
It seemed his luck had run out for now. Although he thought that red berries would be much easier to find than the pink variety, he simply wasn't able to spot any. Weird. Was it his method? Was there something going wrong with the way he was going about this? Hmm. Red berries. Perhaps they grew in a slightly different area.

Perhaps the solution to this was not physically looking around for the berries, rather, magic could be used to sense where they were. Sprig was a bit unsure about whether it would work or not. He didn't use this spell much, as he was so familiar with Eridanus there simply wasn't an enormous need to use it. But here, in Pegasus, he didn't have an idea of where everything tended to grow. Hopefully this would work.
There was... life. But that was as much as he could make of it. Although the spell had succeeded, he wasn't sure which of the plants he could sense were the right ones. Red berries weren't really things he used much in his recipes. It was really things like fruit or herbs that he knew well.

Though he couldn't be sure which were the red berries, Sprig headed towards where he sensed contained the most plant life that was in the shape of bushes. Of course, bushes never guaranteed that they would have red berries, but it was closer than trees at least. It was starting to dawn on him how long this may all take. Not only did he have to find them, he had to bring them back and make them into dye. And also hunt some prey too for the fur and feathers! Man, was this all going to be hard work.

It seemed his idea of going towards the cluster of bushes had been correct. Although many of them were flowering or devoid of any berries at all, he eventually found one hidden between the bushes that contained what he needed. Sprig collected the berries that he needed, and took them back to his sled where he emptied them into one of the stone bowls. From there he would be able to make the dye.
Now that he had already done it once, it was much easier to do it the second time. The berries were crushed until they became liquid, and there weren't any chunks this time. Yes, this dye would work very well. If only the next few colors turned out as well as the red one did.

The next color was orange. Now, there was something particular about orange. It wasn't really a color that could be made using berries. This would require finding either orange minerals, or finding a bird that had orange feathers. Perhaps it would be easier to find ochre than hunting birds. And it was hard to find enough birds anyways to make enough dye. That meant he would have to do some digging. But first, he had to find some.

Sprig wandered around the forest until he found some ground that seemed a bit more orangish than the rest. The only problem was that it seemed to be mixed in with some other soils so that it wasn't a pure orange. Oh well. He didn't expect it to be pristine in quality. He cleared away the area, removing any fallen branches and stones that were in the area. If he hit one of those he could break a claw, or at the very least, it would greatly impede his progress. Once the area was cleared, he got to work on digging it up.

His inexperience in, well, digging, made it rather hard for him to do the task efficiently. It took him quite a while to dig up enough of it before realizing that it would be a pain to transfer it to the sled. Sprig ran back to where the stone bowls were kept, brought one over to the mound of ochre, then filled it up with the mineral. But this didn't seem like dye. The berries naturally held liquid, providing the right consistency for the dye. However minerals were solids, so it meant he would have to add water to make it a true dye.
He brought the bowl over to the river and dipped it in for a moment, allowing the water to mix with the pigment. Just the right amount was added, and the dye seemed a rather vibrant orange now too. It was perfect. Rather proud of himself, he brought it back to the sled and stored it in. Mimosa would be proud of this color. Or he hoped so at least.
