Valkhound Dark

#1
Parent: Vargas
Giving: Life x3 (one is a custom creation)
Health: Good
Element: Light
Stone: Oilstone
Had any previous litters: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine
Randomize Litter?: No
Link to Conception Thread: /showthread.php?tid=11588

NOTE: The first two stones are rewards from the Andromeda Lessers design contest. The Corundum is mine; the Diaspore is Comet's, and that child is going to her! The third child is a Vargas Master Creation intended for Lord Dhracia's eventual procurement.

Child Name: V-Corundum-One
Gender: Undecided
Species: Hybrid
Appearance: A hulking Valkhound-like beast, about eight feet tall but almost more bat-like than resembling either parent. This is a result of the giant Mystfox ears perched on the beginnings of a Vargas hammerhead. Plush slate blue fur is capped by darker cerata, with slightly paler blue countershading underneath. A nose somewhere between open nostrils and a fox snout ends up looking batlike, too, with darker slate noseleather--the same darker blue that makes up the lips and paw-pads. Eyes and maw glow bright pink, matching the gemstone at its back--a species of Corundum too pink to be ruby and too rough to be recognizably pink sapphire. Large spines line the arms and hocks, and the claws of the forelimbs (one thumb included) are long and crooked. Corundum is an omnivore that can also gain nutrition (through Leech, once it has it) from magic sources, as can its Mystfox parent, storing excess in the tail orb; it also has easy affinity for the Reflect spell. Once it has gained enough magic it can grow new tails with new magical storage orbs.
Element: Light
Stone: Corundum (aka ruby/sapphire)

Child Name: Up to adopter (Comet)
Gender: Up to adopter (Comet)
Species: Hybrid
Appearance: Takes more after its Mystfox parent in size and appearance, with a pale orb on its tail, tall ears, floppy antennae and cerata. Stands two feet tall at the shoulder, and is predominantly white with some streaks and markings of pink. From Vargas it inherits many eyes, quills, and tail length. Its eyes and mouth glow the same light blue as its tail orb. This tail orb functions the same as a normal Mystfox, filling up with magicka before spawning another tail. The face seems to always be smiling, and its calls sound like echoing giggles, which can be a haunting sound. Though it is mainly an omnivore, it has a preference for prey, and when food is scarce, it is able to sustain itself off magicka for a while. It, too, possesses the ability to turn invisible though this is much harder to pull off. (Invisibility, magicka sustain will be unlocked by buying spells)
Element: Light
Stone: Yellow Diaspore

Child Name: V-Chaos-Twelve, The Pestilence
Gender: Up to adopter (this character will be adopted out via the special 'four-cycle Chaos adopts' concept)
Species: Valkhound
Appearance: Seven and a half feet tall, sickly gray and green colors on a thick fur pelt. A short tail is bushy, and the short ears are pointed and a little tufted by fur. A collar of thick, backward-pointing spines rings its neck, and smaller spines line the jaw from chin to ear. Two spines jut from the hocks, and the claws are long and pointed. Its body is stocky and long, canine in appearance, well-muscled and resilient; it is built for strength and some measure of endurance. The long, narrow jaws feature multiple nostrils with an exceedingly good sense of smell, and four eyes--all of which, along with the maw behind pointed black teeth, glow a sickly green.
Element: Corrupted. Starting Spell: Chaotic Plague
Stone: Oilstone

This conception was Successful! The litter will emerge January 28th.

* Vargas, as a Master, is not limited by normal character cool-downs but runs the risk of deformities if over-using magic to give life.

TEMPORARY ADOPTION INFORMATION
Summary: THE PESTILENCE is a Corrupted Plague-Hound who can be adopted, and roleplayed, for four months before Lord Dhracia removes it from the caves.

- The Pestilence is powerful: seven and a half feet tall with strong muscles and offensive and defensive abilities, so it'll need to be roleplayed with responsible attention to its power level. It can have any personality you like, any/no gender, etc; however, chaos magic will render it prone to chaotic temperament. This doesn't mean it needs to be sadistic or evil, but that it will not be secretly gentle and reluctant, etc., within reason.

- You MUST be active with this character. The character will be re-adopted out if it hasn't been in at least 2 threads/cycle and made progress on at least some rolls (as long as it's active, that's fine, I'll be lenient--but these characters are plot-centric and need to be active).

- THE PESTILENCE is likely to be trained as a plague-bearing beast of mass destruction. This character's starting spell will be Chaotic Plague. Aside from that, the player can choose what it learns, and whether it chooses Physical or Magical-based combat. It could use its magic only to bolster physical destruction, or rely on plague as its main force of damage. It will be trained by either NPCs, Chaos Forge characters, or both.

- As per the Foster-a-Monster program, The Pestilence will be removed from the caves at adulthood--but will still be alive off-screen, and has potential roleplay ability in Elsewhere threads after that. Magicka spent cannot be regained, but I'd ask that anyone adopting do try to treat them like a "real" character in terms of progression and spells/techniques/tactics, instead of deliberately avoiding spending magicka on them.

- As per the same program, death is possible, but reliant on player behavior. Unless it does something amazingly stupid, uncontrollable or perceived as "weak" it is highly unlikely to die in its first four cycles. Death is far more likely in Elsewhere.

Anyone may apply to roleplay this character.

The Pestilence character concept: There is only one thing more universal than sickness, and that is death itself. The Pestilence is not a Reaper, but they would delight in using their plague-ridden gifts to weed the strong from the weak. A patient creature, contrary to its limited time here in the caves, it would infect its enemies and prey before stalking them like a Komodo dragon, only striking once the victim is run ragged. It speaks only when spoken to or when it deems it necessary, but their voice is loud and deep, commanding respect.

The creature doesn't delight in pain for the sake of pain, despite its chaotic blood. The plague it carries has a purpose, and that purpose is to glorify Chaos and Lord Dhracia.

They would likely still use The Pestilence as their name/designation, preferring it over V-Chaos-Twelve. Perhaps gains a nickname of 'Black Shuck.' Gender is still undecided; Its Chaotic Plague would likely include symptoms of nausea, delirium, difficulty breathing, frothing of the mouth and nose, and in fatal cases, progressing to "drowning" in one's own lungs.
RP Sample or detailed personality summary:

Frenzy coated the Pestilence's jaws, which clicked together with dire purpose. The beast prowled, sniffing the ground, following the trail of illness and bile. They had infected the lesser they were trailing not long ago, and its rapid decline was intoxicating to watch.

The cave deer struggled in the clearing ahead, mouth dripping with fluid. It staggered, wheezing loudly. The sight made the Pestilence hum in enjoyment. The fate of the Lesser was already sealed, even before they charged.

Acid green teeth clamped over the deer's back before it even realized what was happening. The sickening crunch of bone was loud, and the taste of tainted blood was not enough to feet the plague-hound's mounting hunger. As the deer crumpled, they were already tearing out chunks to swallow greedily.

Anyone who happened upon it and its meal would be wise to steer clear, or they'd have to brave plague ridden fangs and claws.

Can you keep this character active? I should be able to, as I have a fair amount of free time currently and for the foreseeable future.

pubby.

Golden-crowned sifaka Cicada

The Pestilence character concept: A dog that care/adoption guides would describe as high-maintenance. Not a good first pet. Its energy needs an outlet or it will become frustrated and explode on you. You'd better be very experienced with dogs if you want this one. However, with the proper activity in its high-energy lifestyle, it will become a faithful, fierce, hardworking companion, eager to please its chaotic masters. It has the lion-fighting strength of a Rhodesian Ridgeback, the stubbornness and mischievous idiocy of a Husky, and the energy and intelligence (occasionally) of a Border Collie, ALL TIMES ITS MONSTROUS SEVEN-FOOT HEIGHT. If Vargas wanted a canine, oh boy is he GETTING one. THE one.

RP Sample or detailed personality summary:
The ground of Pegasus shook slightly.

A cacophony of thunderous barks, earth-shaking bellows, and a particularly phlegmy and disgusting-sounding sneeze later, the shaking was no longer slight. Clods of grass and mud flew through the air as Pest bounded across the meadows at full speed, its claws ripping up pieces of earth and sending them flying at the knees of its pursuer. Its glowing green tongue lolled out of its mouth slightly as it panted, relishing in the rush of air through its mucus-clogged airways. A couple of festering globs of spit flew out as it wheezed happily and splashed across the winding river in light leaps, seemingly wholly unaware or uncaring that the angry beast hot in pursuit was actively trying to kill it. Would the Valkhound finally learn that not everything in life was a game--?

Behind it, the hulking form of its Meadow Deer pursuer slowed, then stopped its charge as it stumbled into the water. It shook its massive head a few times. Pest wheeled around and barked hoarsely, delighting in the way its massive antlers swung in the air. It shook itself as if in imitation, sparkling droplets flying from its shaggy fur. The Meadow Deer swayed, too, though more clumsily--few could match Pest's speed and agility in this dance for long! Then it stumbled over its own hooves and collapsed with a groan and a splash. Pest burst into peals of laughter punctuated by barks, howls, and coughing fits, leaping and dancing in place, before it shook itself and bounded back across the river. Time for another partner, another round! It could do this all day long. It hoped, though, that the circle of Meadow Deer wouldn't have moved on in the time this chase had taken. Not all of those it played with shared its enthusiasm. Ah, well. Perhaps if the deer got tired of running it would simply return to this one and rip it up a little! Viciously biting and shaking things until they fell into bloody pieces was as delightful a game as any. The enthusiastic bellows of the dying seemed only to prove its point.

Can you keep this character active? i will see this puppy through its four cycles if it is the last thing I do in god's green caves. i will give it the exercise and enrichment it deserves and demands. i will let it tear up all the doggy toys (gembound and/or innocent victims Elsewhere) it wants.

The Pestilence character concept: Its so weird that such a terrifying monstrosity of chaos made for destruction and violence could have come out so strange and goofy and loveable. It loves to hunt and play and make mischief and seems to only have a mind for 1. the next meal and 2. the next playtime. Unfortunately (or, fortunately for the masters of Chaos), playtime usually involves acts of incredible violence and magical death plagues, but the Pestilence doesn't seem to know the difference. It could be that its a little bit sociopathic in this way with its complete disregard for those that it hurts during its "playtime" or that it had simply been raised to believe they don't matter. A high likelihood in the latter - this is a certified Good Boy through and through and don't you dare tell me otherwise!

RP Sample or detailed personality summary: Idk how to give an RP sample anymore with a character i haven't bounced off of other people yet so I'll talk more about its personality.

The Pestilence is a joyous thing, seemingly set on the moon of Let to bring joy and mischief in its wake. Perhaps not exactly what the higher ups will expect when its plopped onto the surface, but it will fulfill its duties regardless, just with a whimsical sense of fun that perhaps few chaos beasts had shown before. Everything seems to be a game to it and it may be hard to work with if anything is presented as anything but a game. It doesn't like being bored unless it's being lazy - which is something it can be prone to be. It likes its relaxation as much as it likes its fun and games. Dozing in the warm light is one of its favorite hobbies - just wait until it learns about the sun!

But, of course, the whims of Chaos calls - and the Pestilence is eager to answer. Bursts of energy and playfulness are sudden and wild and usually not very long, but they are quite frequent. The needs for destruction and violence that chaos demands are instead expressed, through this dog-like valkhound, as a need for play. Village homes are its KONG toy and the people are the treats stuffed inside. It is incredibly violent and, to an outsider's perspective, incredibly vicious when its at play, but the Pestilence doesn't really care - it has been taught that it shouldn't.

Unfortunately, however, this does make the Pestilence an extremely stubborn and hard to work with pup. It doesn't take demanded orders too well if not phrased correctly, more content to find its own fun. It can be trained, to an extent, but its masters will see that its true capabilities can only be reached when its at play. And it only takes a simply twist of the wording, a change of phrase, to turn a job into a game that the Pestilence will readily leap into, full steam ahead.

Can you keep this character active? YES. YES. I will do everything to rp it as much as i can! Even if i disappear for a week, I will makes sure to come back and catch up! It will be my top priority, my best little boy.

Valkhound Dark

I genuinely adored all of these apps, so I rolled for this! These were all great and I wish I could pick all three! Discord gods have decreed that this one will go to Cicada, but since everyone only gets one (1) Elsewhere/4 cycle Valkhound adopt, Jaymie & Shadowlugia have a chance next time!

@Yellow it's all yours!! Looking forward to seeing this absolute monstrosity of all the best/worst breed characteristics jammed into a giant plaguehound, thank you
