Samael had two books with him. Neither were very large books, considering his six inches of size, but they fit just right in his hands. The text was similarly small, but just right for his eyes.

Unsurprising, in a way, for one of them, since he had written it, once he had a better feel from the alphabet and phrasing from all the reading he did in the library itself. The other book was one of many already written books Menkhe had been kind enough to transcribe for him. Like all those books, it was treasured and kept safe.

But he had indeed asked for a blank book, a journal as it was called, that would fit his size, as well as a writing utensil that was able for him to be handled, and one day he had just started writing. He left his writing utensil in the library, usually, but his mind never stopped writing now that he had started, not really.

The fairy's mind created stanzas and brought words together in the shape of poetry in his every day. They were rougher, not yet polished as what he finally wrote down. He did not read those geodes that were broken open but not yet polished to shining when he was here.

Here being, where the three of his unhatched children rested. Some might have given up when they had not hatched on their due date. Others might have given up when nine more cycles had passed since then. But it was never a matter of giving up, not for Samael.

These were already his children, hatched or not. He could not say he was entirely worry-free, not at first, but his attempt to sense life through various magical methods at his disposal had proven there was life in them. And so he read for them, often.

But there was a second book, a not journal book, and that was what he read today. It was a book of a 'play'. This one had particular lines he had read while in the library that had gotten him very attached to it, for it spoke true to life, in his opinion. Not all the lines resonated, but this one did.

"'My bounty is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep; the more I give to thee, the more I have, for both are infinite.' This is a rather poetic quote from a piece of literature called a play. They were performed on stages," Samael explains.

"To me, this quote means that one can give love eternally and feel more love simply through the act of giving that love. While the play depicts this love romantically, I think it speaks true to all forms of love. Including parental. My children, loving you is easy because the more I love you all, the easier it is to do so," he elaborates, words fond.

Within the small chrysalis of pink topaz, there was a being. They were no longer a child in shape or form, having reached adulthood within the confines of this chrysalis. Nor were they truly a child in mind, either, though there was much they did not know of the world beyond.

There was a muffled sound outside the chrysalis of pink topaz, a familiar tone. A voice, they thought to themself with greater awareness than ever before. It was a voice, and the being inside suddenly wanted to hear it properly. Sharp teeth bit into the chrysalis harshly, creating a small crack.

But a small crack was not enough, though it would allow them to hear better. They required more than just the sense of sound, they greedily decided. They needed more.

They tried to attack the chrysalis with sharp teeth and claws, eager to escape suddenly in a way they had never been before.

But their untested strength was insufficient. They widened the crack some, a harsh noise leaving the stone as they did so, but they were not free. Not yet.

Samael was still speaking when the first crack sounded out. It could have just been a branch, so he finished his sentence, not wishing to assume anything. He closed the book, and then he dared to look up.

He studied the larger two chrysalises first, with nothing changed, then turned to observe the small chrysalis that was about his own size. The one with the pink topaz from that snake he had hunted.

It was cracked. Samael's pale blue gaze widened, then narrowed in to focus on this moment. One of the children was hatching, a moment he had wondered if would occur but had willingly waited for regardless.

Of course, it would not be a child in size nor mind, not anymore, but whatever emerged was still his child, no matter how old said being was.

He had given life to this being, and he already loved it. He purred encouragingly, a feline soothing noise that fell into Samael's natural sounds.

An idea occurred to Samael. It had been so long since had hatched, and he wanted to know how his child was feeling in this moment. There was no doubt in his mind that his child would get out, one way or another.

So he cast the spell that allowed him to connect to the feelings of another. He could feel the moment the spell connected, just barely, but still, it functioned.

Right now, the majority of what the child within was feeling was frustration. They wanted out, they wanted to be able to properly see the being that was emitting a sound that they knew instinctively was meant to soothe.

They clawed and scratched again, determined to widen this crack until they broke the chrysalis open. Frustration was quick to turn into anger as yet another failure occurred.

Freedom was so close yet so far, and this longing drove them towards this feeling of rage at their entrapment which had not bothered them before.

They were feeling more than they ever had, almost too much to keep track of, really. But the prevalent feeling was a desire to experience more of the world that was being tantalizingly hinted at, yet remained out of their reach.

For all that the spell had barely connected, his child was feeling so much that the emotion overflowed into the lesser empathy bond. The child was frustrated, likely by their failures so far, yet longed for so much. The longing was overlaying all the other emotions, including the growing rage.

Then the emotional connection faded, and Samael felt the loss of it like a wound. The longing was beautiful, no matter that it was combined with frustration.

Would it take away from his child's success if he finished freeing them, broke open the crack? Samael was uncertain. He would wait a few more moments, he decided. He needed to be sure his decision was the best one for his smallest child.

Determination was not lacking for this being. They attacked the chrysalis yet again, the sound of skittering claws and teeth against gemstone escaping from the crack in the chrysalis.

And though they had failed before, they did not fail this time. The crack widened, slowly at first, and then suddenly the chrysalis gave in and outright shattered.

They were victorious, they thought, their gaze flickering around to observe the worlds, the wings on their back flapping idly to stretch, their scaled tail twitching in a feline-like manner.

And then their gaze found the purring. Or rather, the being that was purring. It was oddly familiar to look upon, and at first they were not sure why.

Then they deliberately glanced at themself and their wings and hands and everything, and they realized it was because they had subconsciously recognized themself in this other being.

"...Who?" They asked, wanting to clarify this new world, voice surprisingly themself a bit. Their tone was a natural purr, like the sound the other emitted. One of their hands drifted over their throat with a look of surprise unhidden on their face.

Samael had kept up his purring, and it grew exponentially louder as the chrysalis continued to hatch and the gembound, his child revealed themself. His gaze is awed as he observes this fairy, barely any taller than himself, so similar and yet so different at the same time. Shaped in his image, yet entirely new.

"I am Samael. I could introduce myself in many ways, but the one role which is most important is this; I am your parent, your father, or your dad, whichever you prefer to call me. I gave magic and therefore life to a gemstone which became you. I am a being who loves you, my child," he introduces himself.

"Who are you?" Samael extends the question back after a pause to allow his child to process his introduction.

The being takes note of the words, filtering in and gradually forming into some semblance of sense. This being is Samael, their father. The concept of love is interesting. They do not love Samael yet, they do not think. Yet, upon pondering, they think they could, perhaps. He is interesting.

A query from Samael startles them out of their own thoughts. They blink their red gaze, thoughtfully pondering who they are. They do not truly know where to start. They are not entirely sure they know they answer, not yet.

But how did Samael start, they wonder, thinking back. A name. Do they have a name?

Yes, they do, it has been waiting for them all along.

"I am Mirrikh," They reply, voice a bit slower, more tentative as they taste the words that flow from their mouth. "I am your child."

Mirrikh glances around again, and their gaze lands on two bigger chrysalises. "Are they your children, too?"

They stare at the size of the chrysalises, so much bigger than their own size. They try to reach out and sense if there is life within, though they know not how they do this, they know they can sense life instinctively.

Samael beams at the acknowledgement from his child, Mirrikh. It is a lovely name, nothing like any he has heard before. Then comes the first question, and he smiles with sharp teeth, delighted by the connection that Mirrikh has made.

"Yes, these two are your siblings. My other two children," He agrees. A part of him wonders what comes next, if Mirrikh will simply leave.

But it does not look as if Mirrikh is inclined to just leave, not yet. And Samael prefers to live in the present, regardless.

After their impromptu conversation, another chrysalis starts to crack. The being inside now too large to be encased by the shards of Blue Diamond, the thing completely shatters quite quickly. Pieces of blue diamond go flying every which way - not strong enough to truly damage anyone aside from getting disgusting chrysalis goop all over.

Unlike the two quite similar looking beings, Fáfnir comes out looking very different. All serpent, some dragon - nothing alike the fae parent or sibling the being is going to come to know. A disgusting stench of death and decay comes out with the serpent, giving way to a dark creature covered in goo.

Evidently, not dead at all.

The serpent raises a head coated in blacks and reds, large blue horns peeking out. Since the creature came out an adult, Fáfnir has no issues looking around - observing the new sights. Multicolored eyes blink at both of the fae. This must be life.
