This time, Yanyue felt very prepared for if the portal was kind enough to give a gift. After all, they had their drawstring bag to put things in! And even if they didn't know what the item was, the Blacksmith or Diem might be able to identify it for them.

Only, that is, if there was an item. Yanyue still remembered that the first time they had asked the portal for something with Diem there, and the portal had not offered anything. But perhaps the portal had been shy or tired. It was only natural, with Diem there, fresh from the portal.

"Excuse me, portal, is it alright if I have another gift?" they asked, standing back a bit so they wouldn't get hit if there was one, hopefully.

"The last one was really great! I gave the sword pieces to the Blacksmith and he seemed to like them, so I'm grateful you gave me them! And the bag is great too, I have it here!" the dragon spoke cheerily.

The rift hummed with an ebb and flow of magic, but nothing happened...

The rift hummed and magic could be felt in the air, but nothing appeared. Yanyue gave a kindly nod. "No worries, portal! I understand you can't always give me something, but thank you for trying!" they sincerely told the non-living portal.

And with that, the child was off, empty drawstring bag kept close. They idly attempted flight, eager to be in the air but not attached to the idea right now to the point of being sad if it failed. It worked, if barely, allowing Yanyue some weak flight for a bit in Gemini before they landed.

Freedom was wonderful. And Yanyue would come back, the next day, they thought.
