he returned where he had been born, only to sniff out the exact area he had broken his chrysalis. the gem pieces were either gone or tattered, pushed aside. their brown and blue colors dark and dimmed in the minimal light, but this made no difference to the colt. with a small huff of a whinny, the foal then performed a semi-circle before his limbs folded beneath his body - laying him softly in the place.

the sooty, dappled body of the thick colt lay in the shadows, only visible by the shine of his bright left eye. his gem reflected what light could be shed, shimmering with mochas and robin's egg blue. the mismatching lenses of the foal scanned the area in silence, wondering if he'd ever meet anyone other than the few he had already. he observed the area for several moments, before his head curled into the nook of his body, tucking away so that he may attempt rest.
