In the green shell lay the creature, nestled neatly within, near the waterfall. The malachite was almost see through, the creature within visible, although its colors marred by the green tint of the stone. For a while, it had lay dormant, unmoving, waiting for the stone it was in to become fragile, for the time of its arrival into the world. And now, it was moving. All three heads were stirring slightly, its legs kicking out and stretching, paws pressing against the fragile walls of the stone holding it. It was cramped. They were cramped.

Stirring more, the creature's eyes did not open, although there was the slight flicker in the middle head's eyelids. Although they lay still for a moment, they erupted in a flurry of motion, twisting, stretching against the stone they were trapped in. The stone splintered beneath their paws, and with a final kick, they were free. Well, almost. Twisting so they were facing the part where the stone was broken, the middle head's eyes opening. Adriel moved slightly, paws touhching the ground.

Kerberos had always thought that he would come here again to face what he had done, but the death of the bird named Bevy had cast ripples that he couldn't escape. Usually, he found that Fornax was a better place to catch a swim, with warmer waters, but today he walked straight past the gate in the cramped tunnel, instead heading to the place of slate.

He was caught of guard by the smell-- flowers had started blooming here. His ears perked as he stepped into the damp room, the roar of a waterfall buffetting his hearing. The last time he had come here, he had destroyed and created life, he had... But that had been so many cycles ago, when he thought he was an adult but still had no grasp of what being an adult meant. He had been foolish then, and perhaps he still was. The canine shook his three heads as he approached the edge of the lagoon, noticing how quite Pisces was.

What had happened to Maji Walezi? Cancer had gotten his revenge and passed on, leaving him the children... His children. Hadn't they been born here? Scarborough was in Canis, but wouldn't the rest of Bevy's revived stone be here? The thought made him feel quiet and confused, and he lapped up the water of the lagoon and let the coldness clear his busy minds.

The cracking of stone caught the attention of one of his heads-- the orange nosed one. "Hey," the head woofed softly, catching the attention of the rest of his body. The towering cerberos carried his paws towards the hatching gem, pink eyes focusing on the tiny form that plopped out of the shell, kicking and fighting for freedom.

Immediately, Kerberos felt like he was a puppy again. Three wide grins spread across his face, the center head's scarred figure looking menancing while the others seemed playful as he slid his massive, fluffy paws forward into a play bow. Magic soared through him as he gave warmth and comfort to the air, and to the child before him.

Once, Kerberos had thought he had found his son. Then, he found Scarborough, his true child-- but this newborn had flailing paws and three beautiful heads, with brightly glowing eyes. Kerberos spoke, all at once, in his excitement, to the child.

"Hello little one!" "Welcome to the world." "How strong you are!"

His long, snake tail wagged slowly behind him, sliding against the loamy ground. His grinning heads paused, exchanging glances, and then spoke once again, this time letting the middle head go first-- and then swapping off as he announced his name.

"I am Kerberos!"
