So, I know in some cases, people's characters can have some interesting, and unique origin stories. how did you design, evolve, or even 'discover' your favourite characters?

Whilst most of my characters were newly made specifically for Origin, a few (Eira, Kin-Kin and especially Equinox) have more interesting stories behind them.

Kin-Kin was the first OC I ever made- although originally she was designed of a fan-character of Okami, she has since evolved into much, much more. I started playing her almost 10 years ago in one of the many fandom-based RPs I made. After all those years and many RPs later, she became who she is now, the flirtatious asshole we know and love.

Equinox is an odd one. I didn't design her, as much as 'discovered' her. As the story goes, since I was little, I've always had lucid dreams and always been able to spit fire and fly in said dreams. Every night was the same; no matter where I was or what I did. In the beginning, I couldn't fly high or spit fire very far, but over the years I seemed to become better at it. Every night I'd fly, spit fire, show off my abilities to whatever dreamworld happened to present itself, and then awake.
Last year, as I slept, it was a similar scenario. Except in this dream, I was on a journey along with ZAZ, my boyfriend. In the dream, he took the form of a golden dragon with great white wings and antlers, but I never saw myself. We were journeying through a post-apocalyptic land in which dragons had wiped themselves out through war. except, apparently, for us. As usual, I could breathe fire and fly, but couldn't speak. As we progressed into an ancient city, we wandered into an ancient mansion in which mirrors lined the halls and there, I saw myself for the first time. A pitch black creature with oily skin and no visible eyes, almost wormlike in appearance due to smooth skin and lack of horns or scales. Equinox, as you know her, or what she'll someday grow into...
Equinox remains one of my most vivid and surreal dreams to date, and I still find myself fascinated by the story of her origins.

So, what's your most interesting character backstories?

Sooo... Fira started out as my completionist character in Skyrim. She started off as just a regular RP character (I HAVE to legit RP in Skyrim or it doesn't feel right). So she had to eat and sleep and I kept a journal of her adventures. Then, over time, as the story goes, she grew to become so powerful and became the leader of so many factions that she became self-aware. Basically one day she was just like, "Being able to do all of the stuff I can do is literally impossible. Oh hey, I'm a video game character." Then she started "having conversations with me" and stuff.

So basically she's kind of a less crazy Deadpool, aware that she is in a video game, a story I've written, or some other creative outlet I've put her in. In Origin she's technically not allowed to be self-aware, but I've been tempted to have her break the fourth wall a lot. Because I recreate her in any way I can, and she remains aware of all her "past lives" she's actually a pretty sad character in some ways, never being able to stay in one place and always having to save words and lives of people who don't actually exist. She is still bound by the rules of the setting, so to HER, the people and the world are REAL, but she also knows they aren't, so she lives in this sort of weird... half-in, half-out state.

If she dies she knows she's not really gonna die, so she has a very relaxed personality and is kind of a "bro." She's bi-sexual with heavy lesbian leaning, and mostly she would just like to be recreated in Skyrim PS4 so she can marry her true love, Jordis, again. I accidentally deleted her save file at 300+ hours in Skyrim which sparked my need to recreate her everywhere.

She holds a lot of knowledge in her head and is determined to use it all CORRECTLY. She's a Neutral-Good badass rogue/archer/stealthy elf chick with red hair, green eyes, and really olive skin.

Serval Zevruu

The only character that wasn't made for this site would be Splashy. She's based entirely off of myself. Anything she says/does is likely something that I myself would do.

Zevruu carries a baubled stone with him at all times, a reminder of him meeting Macawi and getting his fortune told. He also wears a golden chain necklace that he got after fighting a couple of rats in the quest Will You Help Me?

aw haha these origin stories are so cool!! @_@ lesse...

Leon came about because CJ and I were talking about what characters we'd wanna play on Origin, and I wanted a character that would basically burn themselves alive and die very gruesomely. *points at Leon* he hasn't done that yet. but... we'll see.

Ghanyarah was inspired by Amon from Legend of Korra, but he ended up growing into a completely unique character, which is great - I just wish I had been able to adhere to the same general feel of Amon's personality, since I really love his character. Oh well! Ghanyarah is lovely either way.

All my other characters were made for Origin because lord knows I get thousands of character ideas every day and I NEED to play them out... except for Siberian (she was briefly around with her siblings Larus and Dadyr, but we never got to play them, their accounts also got purged by the system 8( ), who came from a wolf rpg Harbinger. Siberian and Larus specifically were the children of mine and CJ's characters (who weren't an item, surprisingly - my lady was hella gay for another lady), and Dadyr was transplanted from *another* wolf rp called Ciroc, where Toppa and I played together!

I wish I played some characters who were from like, wayyyy long ago, but I have a hard time recreating characters here since they don't retain their history!

Oh right... I forgot about the NPC's.

Raheerah used to be a big spooky wolf. Like a massive, gnarly monster. He had greasy black fur and he probably smelled bad, and bright orange eyes, and an intricate scar on his face.

Because he was a DRAGON and then all the monks were like, "HOW DARE YOU EVIL FIEND" except it was actually this blind and touch-sensitive lady named DAWA who subdued him. And they scarred him and locked him up. And then I think he escaped? And rekt everyone's shit even more. And he spoke really long and drawly like, and he was just generally a big crepe.

Then I turned him into a dragon.

Honestly, all of my characters a new and unique to origin. I have played a character named Ghost before, and thats where i got the basis of his personality, but there are so many differences that literally, they only share a name now lol.

Red Wolf Norvilion

Xireidi is an interesting case, in that he is one of the few characters who constantly surprises me. During my early days of RPing on a wolf site I created two brothers, Vargair and Nanaki (and yes that is a stolen name. Was young and a fan of FFVII and no one on the site had played it so, while lame, it was kinda-sorta okay). Each was missing an eye, and each had remarkable strength and a tendency to travel through the trees.

Vargair's name is derived from Norse, meaning both wolf and thief or something along those lines (same word that becomes warg). He was supposed to be the evil brother who was constantly stealing from others and never hunted for himself. He was missing his left eye, based on the whole left side being sometimes associated with villany.

Nanaki on the other hand was super nice, super friendly, and would spend extra time hunting to give to others to make up for his brother's thieving ways. He was missing his right eye.

Over time though they started acting... weird in character. Vargair constantly stole, yes, but he only stole food and had some kind of aversion to hunting or even hurting for that matter. Nanaki was super generous, but a little bit overly so and constantly spreading warnings about his evil brother. Something didn't sit right about him, especially since I had established in their timeline that they had come from my world's {oversized dark pack that was in constant war with an oversized light pack}.

Eventually it came to light that they had two distinct powers that made all the difference and explained everything. The first, of course, being their strength, but the second was one suited to their original purpose; as spies. Any time their teeth touched the blood of a living being they would invade the mind of that creature, tearing violently into its thoughts and memories (very unpleasant for the victim). This was a passive ability so it could not be turned off.

Vargair was revealed to be weak-willed; he couldn't hunt for himself because he couldn't stand the horrors of witnessing the dying thoughts of his prey. His only option was to steal prey that had already been killed. Nanaki was a charismatic sadist, a sociopath even, and enjoyed every minute of torture he brought on living things. By putting on a lovable personality in front of others he not only got their trust but was able to pass off his addiction to killing as a hard-working personality and determination to make right what his brother did wrong. This is why in the new version the evil non-brain-damaged pup called itself Leikari, which is Icelandic for ‘actor’.

Eventually the truth came out, and Nanaki tried to side with a chaos demon to wipe out those who knew so he could start again in a new place. Vargair had always been too afraid of him to speak up for himself so it seemed the perfect plan until the demon turned on Nanaki and left his mind completely shattered.

The mask he had worn in front of all others had become an entity of its own; an actual virtuous personality that took control from what had been a malicious being. The new personality still had traces of Nanaki in him, in a kind of DID/Schizophrenic relationship, but wanted to differentiate himself by taking the name Xireidi (Which ooc is an anagram of Red XIII).

Never had a chance to go much farther than that, but it seems the character is still surprising me a bit with the direction his thought process goes. I'm usually a lot stricter on planned character development but something about him tends to lead itself to unexpected directions.

Wolf-Dragon Mutant AliceEnigma

I've already told Moon a little bit about mine but I'll say it here too since for some reason I like explaining where I got some ideas from XD.

Rinaotei just basically came to be out of random sort of when the idea finally came to head, in class we had to put some game ideas in for a poster I think and there was about what the protagonist will be, I have already showed some others on the CBox what the original Rina looks like, but Rinaotei is actually a wolf-dragon hybrid/mutant which was basically what I wrote the protagonist will be. This is manifested on how I love both wolves and dragons, but since Rina is a character who I was trying to think of as a video game main protagonist I wasn't so sure about making her a full wolf or full dragon as I worried I'd be ripping off Okami or Spyro since I like Action-Adventure genres which would be kind she'd be in (I know having a same animal as a main protagonist isn't exactly ripping off but I still was unsure XD.) The random idea of a wolf-dragon hybrid stayed in my head for a long time and when I got into vector art and Illustrator I decided to experiment making her at last and while it took me some time to find the right design I eventually completed her. I did make changes from time to time on it, since with vectors making changes is easy (such as making the wolf version that I could use on Origin, fear not though she'll be the original Rina when I get a Mutation Slot > : D)

After design I for a long time thought of power ideas, while since she is a video game protagonist so she had a large variety of elements, but if she had a limit I'd chose she would just have Ice, Time & Darkness kind of my 3 fave elements XD. Personality and backstory came last, while I don't remember much of what I placed for backstory, still unlike the current Rina who loves freedom and adventure the moment she basically emerged, this one gains character development on how she finds happiness in finally having freedom, so much that when she completed her original goal which I forgot what it was she rejected what came of completing it because it meant she'd have no freedom if she'd accept. Personality wise, the first thing I chose for her to have was being someone who kind of lived to the samurai ideal I think and that's what made me decide for her to be calm/stoic that's what I knew for certain which is why it's the current one's main trait. That's mostly of what I remember about her XD.

Albeon was a one that always confused me, because the original Albeon is basically a future self-character. I for some reason for a long time kept on making new future self-characters so often XD, for a long while I never got why I kept on doing it. But now I think I know, every time I watch perhaps a new show there's always this one character I really like, but I may find that they deserve better in terms of things like perhaps even if I like them their life may utterly suck in the show, or they don't have enough power and so don't get enough recognition if it's a show that has a lot of action in them. So my response to that is making an idea of a Future self-character of them in my head who may have a far better life than their past self or is a lot more powerful so much the other characters in it would be amazed about their capabilities, and if push comes to shove I may make the future self somehow gain longevity (not immortality XD) or not be human anymore XD (so they're kind of pretty OP in a way.). Over time that future self in my head starts to change to their own character in a way to me, their backstories/past self-personalities will be what their character I based them from personality is with a few twists, the current timeline/future self-personality will be of my own idea entirely, may even make them the opposite of their past self perhaps. Of course I couldn't exactly do that stuff on Origin exactly it'd be too complicated to do time travel or make Alby emerge being guilt ridden of his ‘past’, but basically Albeon's current/pre character development personality is the personality that his past self would have and so a backstory, so the personality he has now is the personality that the character I based him from has (don't actually remember which character that was now XD.) post-character development is my idea entirely and what the future self-one would have basically. In a way future Albeon is basically someone who strongly wants to repent for his past self-actions, so while he's very guilt stricken he still has a way happier life than his past self.

Sorry if I went into too much detail XD, but yeah that what I can remember about these 2. And while I don't really try to favour any of my chars I can't help but find that the reason I post more with Albeon than Rina is the factor that when I made them, for Rina when making her, her design artwork and powers came first before personality & backstory since she's my idea of a video game character. While Albeon on the other hand his personality and backstory came first before design and powers since he was more someone who belongs in a book.
