The sounds of water moving and crashing on rocks in the distance, insects buzzing as they scurried through and over the grass, amidst the collecting ponds and fish something stirs. A crunching noise barely makes it out through the mud and grass as a tiny chrysalis shivers in on the ground. Now and then the object moves, but only for a brief moment, barely disturbing the mud it lay in. It goes still and silent for a few passing moments before there is a small crunching noise and a crack forms along the surface. It tips over and into the mud further, slowly sinking into it bit by bit until it is hardly visible, and once more all goes still in the wet and dirty puddle.

All at once there is a 'pop' and the mud collapses inward slightly before a tiny figure rises up. Shaking the mud from his scales and opening his eye the creature takes in its surrounding. It hesitantly moves a front leg but before it can place it down a loud buzzing flies overhead and the croc ducks back into its muddy hiding place. The buzzing grows until the source is revealed to be a flying insect resembling a dragonfly. Landing on a small blade of grass it sits motionless, bobbing up and down slightly as the plant stresses at the new weight. Amidst the mud, a small marble like circle stands out, white and speckled with black, a single slit splitting through the center. Up and down, slowly and steadily the grass sways, and the insect rests on its new perch.

The small eye and the insect seemed to grow closer to one another, carefully and patiently the mud rose to meet the plant until a filth covered figure almost touched the grass. A gentle gust of wind blew by and caused the insect to take flight. Just as the wings began to buzz the creature leapt at it, snapping its little jaws as it tried to catch the bug, however it fell short and the baby croc fell back into the mud. He didn't stay down long, and was right back at the bug, leaping and snapping at it as it made its escape. They darted all through the grass, one avoiding the jaws, and the other eager and excited for a snack. Suddenly though, the snapping stopped and the bug seemingly escaped. It turned its path to avoid hitting a tree and circled around, the little monster that had pestered it before now gone it landed once more on a blade of grass near some twigs to rest itself from the chase. 'Crunch!' Just as the insect had landed, a set of jaws closed around it.

Tyrus had gotten his first meal and chomped on the bug, attempting to fit it wings and all down his throat in one bite. It took a few, but with the bug eaten Tyrus looked around once more to take in his surroundings. His one eye blinked just as another opportunity passed him by, a second bug flew past him much faster than the first he encountered and the little croc sporadically chased after it. Jaws wide, eye forward, and a wavy mouth forming a playful grin he scampered off into his next adventure.

wake up from your reverie
a light year from reality

Form was fast asleep, lain out by the opening in which led into Tunnel O. After a while of restlessness, he finally crashed out from being dead tired—stretched along on side and lacking any sort of motion. Though the seemingly dead pup revealed an eye at the faint sound of movement, large ear twitching with each wave it caught. Apparently, something was scurrying about. Whether there stood a possibility in it being a threat, thoughts did not feel it was something to stress over. Reaching out one leg, head moved up and rested on opening wall, gaze going about the area in seeing if the producer of such noise was within sight. It seemed nothing would come around, however, as eyes could not see anything. Not because it was dark, but more so the producer was not in the area he was scanning. Slowly pushing up into a sit, he would stretch neck out before getting onto all fours, shaking out fluffy coat. Well, little self would have to go and investigate; sauntering onward and into the base of Pisces, brain warming up after rest.

Unsure how to approach the creator of noise if he were to find them, Kyorai decided to cross over hills, slightly curious if his old chrysalis was still in place. Humming, he would climb up one more hill before vision saw a figure moving around wildly. Maw parted from wonder, watching and trying to understand what they were doing.

With a few seconds passing in seating and observing scene, he realized the creature was chasing something—a small something. He narrowed eyes to see what it was, whispering an "oh" once seeing a tiny figure flutter by. The canine then chuckled, wanting to know why they would go fully for the tiny insect. Working his way down hill, he went into a pose meant for stalking, crawling close to where the action was going down. While doing so, he saw a small broken crystal, adding more sense to this. Ah, so they were only a gemling! A rumble worked up in throat, awaiting for a small chance into the scene. Seeing the insect fly by for just a moment, he took the bait a bit too late—leaping forward to only hit the ground and maybe something else. Sounding off an "oof!" he turned head to look at the insect in which got by him. "You must be really good to go after that tiny guy!" he chuckled, wondering if such thing was possible for him to achieve in capturing.

Tyrus squeaked and trilled as he chased the insect, happily scurrying along in pursuit, his tail flopping around and his jaws snapping his jaws as he ran in hopes of nipping the insect. He seemed to pay no mind to his surroundings in the least bit as he dashed as fast as his little feet would carry him. Once or twice his jaws nearly caught the rear of the bug, but he just didn't have the speed he needed at his current pace and the chase earlier had tired him.

The croc slowed his pace as he heard something nearby, he let his vision widen from the previously focused target to take in the area. Taking notice of something else moving he slowly lowered himself to try and blend in with his surroundings. His tail slowly moved back and fourth in the ground behind him, digging a small hole that he soon backed into, his eye peering out cautiously.

The sudden appearance of the other startled him a bit, but he remained silent and still as possible, not sure if he was seen or not. He took it in, smelling, watching, and listening to the other creature. When the canine appeared to be more interested in the bug than with himself, Tyrus decided to take advantage of the situation. With the others failed attack the bug had changed course and now was headed back towards the croc who was doing his best impression of a stick in the mud.

Just as the bug flew by, Tyrus kicked out of his hole and into the air, snapping at it twice. His first chomp was fruitless, hes second however rewarded him with the lower half of the insect, had it been but a breath later he would have missed, but yet again the croc gets to enjoy a snack it would seem. He happily squeaks and slides the half down his throat before looking at the second and opening his jaws in preparation to finish the rest off.

Just as he has the bug in the tip of his mouth he remembers the other creature and began to look around for him. Spotting the other bug hunter Tyrus trotted over, the other half dangling from his toothy and derpy smile. He slowed down as he got closer stared up at the larger figure, his one eyes darting about his body and taking note of his size and structure. After an awkward moment of silence the croc let his mouth open, placing the remaining bits of insect before the figure ahead of him. Looking to the snack, then back up at the creature he gave a sharp and gleeful trill and stomped a little foot on the ground before nosing the bug closer, offering it to the newfound being.

Face took on a look of concern when he saw the other had ceased their pursuit, afraid he might of accidentally scared the gemling off. The male was about to push up onto all fours, but before taking the needed effort in doing so, belly met ground again when he heard a loud "snap" close by him. Eyes darted in direction he guessed where it was originally emitted. It seemed the little reptile's hunt was successful as he noticed their motion in eating the little insect. A part of him was glad they actually caught the bug, but other part was a bit jealous in not having the right precision to capture one. Though what would be a reason in learning the art of stealing insects from the air surrounding? Perhaps a lot of points could be offered, however, mind could not utter out a single one.

Silently, sight looked about the area for another target he could go after. Search was interrupted by the sound of shuffling steps, head turning to find the little hunter from before standing right by him. Multi-hued eyes noted their appearance, deeming it peculiar but similar to the reptiles he has met before. An "oh" sounded from him when he noticed half of the bug hanging from the gator's jaw, watching them drop it with expectation. To come along was a trill in which he returned with a small bark mixed with a howl. He then took his paw, putting it over their offering and dragging it closer to self. Without hesitance, tongue retrieved it with a bitter taste ensuing within maw. At first, his jaws motioned slowly at the taste put soon sped up once he got use to it. Finishing snack, he lightly wagged tail, hind legs bringing up rear to put him into a bow. "Never thought something bad could turn out good," he laughed, constantly licking lips at the taste, "Ey, what your name be? Mine's Kyorai!" he told, giving the small reptile a few sniffs to familiarize himself with it.

Tyrus tilted his head slightly staring at Kyorai for a moment, silent and still as if pondering the question. A few seconds later he opened his jaw and snapped it a few times rapidly while at the same time striking the ground with his tail repeatedly. The little croc looked back the the mud from where he had emerged and then back to Kyorai. Opening his mouth once more he gave a small squeak and ran in a small circle before stopping and looking back once more.

His head lowered down, and sniffed along the ground, his little eye wandering about the immediate area. Looking back up at the canine Tyrus jumped on his front legs a few times, smacking them into the ground softly before running around in another circle. It was unsure if the crocodile could understand the canine, but it was clear that even if he did, he was unable to answer the question.

Tyrus clicked his jaws lightly several times more before looking at the ground and scratching at it with his front left foot. He sat there just lightly digging for a while silently. Then, suddenly the little thing slipped into the ground he had been digging into, it seemed he had vanished into the dirt and mud, but not long after he popped back up beside the canine, and crawled out of the ground and up Kyorai's tail rapidly. He ran along the spine and to the head where he stopped. Tyrus looked down and into the eyes of Kyorai with his own while letting out a small squeak.

Brow rose with a look of amusement plastered on his face. He watched the gator move about, expression slowly melting into a state of confusion in trying to figure out what they were doing. Paw dragged over the ground, wondering if they wanted his attention on the earth. Bringing another paw over, he did a bit of digging himself, guessing the other gemling was issuing a game involving burrowing. Though he stopped when company got into their hole, seeing them disappear for the second. "Huh?" he uttered, searching around for wherever the reptile went off to. Ah, it seems like they ditched him. Cleaning slightly muddy paws, the male figured he would wander off with gator's leave; although such a decision would be slapped away suddenly at the sensation of something upon him.

Form jumped up quickly, spinning around in trying to figure out what was on him. He stopped once seeing it was the creature he thought had left, gazing up at it as it rested on his head. After a few pants, a light laugh sounded from him, carefully shaking coat to get rid of the crawling feel he still had. "Well, hello, again! Can you not speak? It's not that hard, just say 'hey'," he told, looking to help the gator if such was possible.

Slowly, Kyorai walked over to a pond not too far from where muddy spot was. Rump then met the ground once at the edge, peering up at company again. "What should I call you?" questioning self, it would be sad to leave them nameless, especially since he had no actual idea of what they were.

The hatchling stared at the water for a moment silent and still as his eye looked over the water, then slowly he made his way down the back of his newfound creature and onto the ground. He looked to Kyorai and then to the ground near the waters edge. Wiggling over, the croc found some soft mud and began to stomp around in it for a moment, his little feet pressing into the earth. Soon however he stopped and began to rake his front legs through the mud in strange motions. After a moment of this, and looking over his work the croc backed away and stared at the canine again, his tail thumping at the ground. In the mud beside him, five letters stood out, scraped into the mud T Y R U S.

Clicking his jaws a time or two Tyrus looked back over the water and moved towards its edge. Gently stepping into it, he floated about close by, looking out across the pond but it was unclear what he was looking at or searching for. He stood in the shallow, his head above the water and his mouth open. A few squeaks came from the little one, then a few more. Tyrus sat there in the water, calling out again and again at the pond, each series of squeaks broken by a silence where he waited then began calling again. After a while of this the pace he yelled out slowed until he barley could be heard, just soft grunts while he backed up and laid on the ground looking defeated.

His one lonely eye kept looking around the area and then back to Kyorai in search of something, now and then when a bug or something else would make a ripple in the water the croc would energetically spring back to life and resume his calling out, his little squeaks now apparent that he was calling out to someone or something he believed to be in the water, but yet again there was no reply. Tyrus collapsed for the final time on the ground, a sad look over his face, though a crocodiles emotions would be hard to judge just from reading their face. He slowly turned his head until his eye rested upon the canine again and he gave a woeful and defeated squeak.

This gator's doings were certainly interesting to the pup, having not witnessed a creature that had done such things as this. They have yet to speak yet, baffled at their continued silence. Perhaps they just could not speak at all which he pondered in how they would go on in communicating like this. Mind could only understand so much of it, though it could likely learn what each thing meant as well. Paw frequently patted the ground in imitating what they were doing in looking to grasp their way of exchanging words. He halted when they seemingly looked at him to check something, viewing at what they had been doing this entire time. However... was it meant to be something? Staring at it for a few moments, mind attempted to uncover strange strokes they had imprinted on the ground. Although the more he looked at it, the more jumbled up it seemed to be. Tilting his head one side to another, he concentrated on the strokes harder, shaking head from the daze that still remained from his sleep a few minutes before.

Eyes narrowed while rubbing paw on what they had shown for him to comprehend. With a few hums and another shake of entire form, mind finally clicked out of its half sleep state. Ears propped in realizing, pity laughing at himself for having not understood it at first. "T- t- ty-ru-rus... Oh, Tyrus!" he read, feeling proud of self in getting what they wrote now. The male was impressed that they knew how to do the action, tempted to try and see if he could do his own. Holding up limb, he looked at the reptile's for reference but before giving his first stroke, focus was interrupted by company's noises. Was there something wrong? They surely were making a huge ruckus. He observed Tyrus to see if he could tell what the problem was, noticing how often they jumped after bugs—beginning to think they were hungry again. The pup could not blame if they were seeking for another snack since little insects did not seem enough for anyone to rely on. Body went into a crotch in deciding to help the gator once more.

Form was ready to go after another insect, also wanting to prove his bug catching skills were not mediocre. Although attention went back to Tyrus once their sounds got quieter than their usual loudness. Perhaps it was not about capturing another snack. Kyorai got up into a sit, examining the situation before him. With a few seconds passing by, he got onto all fours and decided to enter into the pond along with them. Surprisingly, it was shallow enough to allow him to stand without worry of keeping above water. He got close to the gator, looking at it with curious eyes. There was something that they wanted but mind could not point out what it was. Even if their way in communicating was not within his comprehension, senses could still tell a shift in mood and atmosphere despite their indifferent facade. "What's up? Weird seeing you not moving around a lot. Are you tired?" he asked, thinking that maybe they were just tired out. With all the springing and stomping, it was possible that all that sucked energy dry. The canine looked into nudging the little creature, awaiting their response.
