It was easy enough to become forgotten in the caves when you could stay under the water's protective depths for all of eternity. There were plenty of bottom-feeder fish, and the larger fish that preyed on them, but not on him.

Cerulean had assumed silent but unquestionable control over his aquatic domain. Unquestionable, but... uninteresting now. A lord ruled over nothing if but an empty kingdom- and if a lord ruled over nothing, was he truely a lord at all?

Or just a thief in the night.

Troublesome, this boredom.

For the first time in cycles, the leviathan arose from the depths of his home in Fornax, to the surface, to breath air with his long-unused upper lungs. A spray of water spread out as he breached into the air and came down with a mighty roar, rolling genly back into the water with control long practiced now.

At the water's surface, it stayed, listening to the echoing voice of his claim as it faded into the dry air of his forgotten territory. For a few moments longer, after silence returned, it was still, until with barely a ripple, Cerulean glided to shore.

The first thing he noticed was how heavy he'd become. Still, strong front limbs dragged him onto the rocky bank until only one tip of his tail's fin rested at an angle in the water's rolling shallows.

Settled, the beast began the slow process of adjusting, to breathing air, to his own weight. The lights were on again, he noticed with passing interest. A rumbling began in the beast's chest, a sound which only grew in intensity over time, until it filled the whole cave with a low, steady hum.

This served as a warning to any who were in or near his cave. The Beast Below was back.
