QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.

MAGICKA LEVEL 100% RESTORED TO 100%
Following the involvement of a particularly keen magic-user (Amras), the river which flows in a great ribbon through Polaris has been partially displaced. Instead of following the aeons-old chasm, approximately sixty-percent of the river has been lifted clear of its mooring and deposited across a large portion of Polaris' floor!
The newly formed lake has settled in to some of the natural pits along the floor, but a lot of the water has been seeping towards it's usual resting place and causing quite a mess. The usually dry ground has become incredibly slippery as the displaced water makes its way.
Above the storm undulates, but its strange sentience is not concerned with the ruination of the river. The eye looms over the sprawling lake, churning with energy, and between arcs of magicka you can make out a large spherical shape being rolled about in the mystical clouds.
This thread is a continuation of this event.
Participation is optional - but a character cannot be in two places at once!

MAGICKA LEVEL 100% RESTORED TO 100%
Out of all the caverns he explored, this room had to be the strangest. As soon as he set paw in Polaris, Aztec felt the magicka tickle his coat. It seeped into his veins and into his obsidian heart, flooding him with energy. His paws no longer ached from travel and felt like he could run for days, and that's exactly what he wanted to do. Aztec sprinted across the rocky ground of Polaris, dodging stalagmites and climbing over boulders. He giggled with childish glee, unaware of the dangers the storm possessed.
It wasn't long until Aztec came upon the Crystal River, or what was left of it. He knelt down, lapping up a few droplets, when he noticed a little slick flowing down stream. Seeing a potential toy, he playfully chased after it from the bank. As the cub approached the lake, he his paws slipped from under him and he crashed to the ground with an "Oof!" . Aztec groaned as he pulled himself up, but he soon forgot the aching throb in his jaw. The bizarre, spherical shape in the swirling clouds grabbed his attention.
A part of him was unnerved by the strangeness of the storm, but curiosity spurred him to go an take a closer look. Carefully stepping across the slippery rocks, he wadded into the lake, eyes fixed to the shrouded heavens above as he waited from another glimpse at the shadow.
Why is it doing this? Aries wondered as he raced along side the river bank. In all his cycles, he had never seen the Crystal River act this way before. Aries was no magicka expert, but he suspected this was the storm's doing.
The mysterious tempest had stirred up many questions in his head, and he hoped he would find answers soon.
The ram followed the stream down, his mighty hooves pounding on rock. Soon, he reached the end and Aries came up with one conculsion. This lake was not here before.
As the blue lightning arched, Aries caught a glimpse of something; a strange spherical thing in the clouds.
Okay, that definitely wasn't there before.
Then, a flash of gold caught his eye, and Aries' eyes grew wide. There was a gemling going into that lake! He remembered what almost happened to Xerxes. The water could be dangerous! Aries bounded towards the cub shouting.
"Kid! Get out of the water!"
As surefooted as the ram was, his hooves were no match for the slippery stone and Aries' balance became shaky. Still, he scrambled toward the cub, like a newly hatched lamb.

The center of the new lake was much calmer than the rest, having settle in to the nooks and crannies of Polaris' floor and making itself right at home. Thankfully the gemling @Aztec has waded in along one of these sections, slipping through the more raucous shallows and in to a more placid segment. Most of the lake is still on the move however; the water does not want to be here and froths violently as it moves along the various plateaus and gullies of the floor, rolling inevitably towards the ancient track where the Crystal River previously sat.
ROLL 8
Game Master Talamasca attempts Other ( How volatile is the lake water? )
Celestia slowly trotted towards the dam slowly, her bright blue eyes looked about as she did. Something seemed strange here, abnormal, apart from the storm but she couldn't tell what. Was there meant to be water around here? She was not sure after all she had not been around long. Celestia stopped when she saw a ram and a jaguar. She stepped closer slowly, being cautious. The ram was running towards the jaguar, so something was obviously wrong but the ground was wet and slippery and it took all her control to not fall over. "What is going on here?" She asked a simple question, trying to understand as she slowly took step by step.
Aztec heard someone yelling to get out of the water, but observing was cut short when felt the current gradually pull him towards the center of the lake. He tried to did his claws into the ground but the slippery stone beneath them gave him no traction. He began to panic when he felt the water rising to his chest. The turned towards the bank and began to frantically paddle, making some progress against the current. There, he spotted a ram rushing towards him, and a large white foal on the shore.
Aries almost fell a couple of times on the slippery stone, and he was pretty sure he looked like a fool, but that was last thing on his mind. He saw that the cub was being pulled by an unseen current in the lake, and by looks of the way he fought it, it did not seem to be that strong. Still, Aries came to the jaguar's aid. He sloshed through the water and met the paddling jaguar half way.
Aries picked up the gemling by his scruff, plucking him from the current and carried him towards the bank. He noticed that new gemling had arrived, a pretty white foal who looked on at his little rescue attempt.
Great. he thought. This lake must be a gemling magnet. He might have to do some baby-sitting.
Aries stepped on the bank and dropped the sopping wet cub at his hooves. "Don't go in the lake." He warned the foal. "There's a current." Aries looked back at the storm, catching his breath, then proceeded to answer her question.
"You see that?" He pointed his muzzle to the churning mass of clouds. "There's a storm in Polaris, it's dangerous here." He looked down at the cub then back to the foal. "You two should get out of here before you get hurt."
"Listen to me." Thoughts...
TAG: @Celestia // OOC: fyi I can do to Aztec cuz he's my character >u>
The waves continue to crash and roll, for the water wants to return home and this unnatural lake is not that. The lake and its contents are not sentient like the storm - save for the newborn, Aztec, who thought it wise to swim through it - but there is a savagery to the lake that cannot go unnoticed. If the creature is not careful he may drown.
Meanwhile overhead, the storm remains oblivious to the toils of the beasts on the cave floor. It is toiling away with the boulder; sometimes turning it quickly, sometimes swallowing it in energy or dense cloud. The storm's eye shifts and condenses around the massive boulder in the manner of an eyelid, and slowly the object begins to smooth and take a shape.

SPLOTCH
"Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap!" the high pitched voice of a young Gemling echoed loudly in the Tunnel, preceeding rapid pawsteps and the harsh sound of hooves striking the soil. The image would be almost funny, as the Gemling whipped around a corner. A young Wild Dog, fur splattered with different colors, took the turn at full speed, pressing herself for all she had. Only a few strifes behind her was a Cave Deer, looking absolutely furious, trying to empale her with its horns.
Unfortunately for the Gemling, she suddenly felt very, very wet. Splotch found herself running into the water, the Cave Deer hot on her heels.
Aztec went limp as Aries plucked him from the water by his scruff. His body dragged against the current as the ram carried him to shore. He dropped on his feet as Aries released him on the shore's edge and gave his drenched coat a shake. Then, he spun around to look at his rescuer. The cub was awed by the handsome physique of the ram. He had never seen a creature so spectacularly sculpted, though it was his majestic, curling horns that the drew the cub's attention. He wondered if he would ever grow something like that.
Aztec stood wide-eyed in admiration as the ram tried to warn him over the roar of the storm. He swallowed and tried to sputter out his gratitude. "Th-th-thank yo-- What is that?!" Behind Aries, the mysterious object in the sky unveiled to be what only Aztec could make out as a floating boulder. Boulders don't float!! He mind reeled as he scampered towards the white foal, wide eyes still fixed on the anomaly. Is that-- is that an eye???
