Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.

Many Gembound pay little to no attention to water.
After all, why would they? Almost every Gembound was landbound, unable to breathe beneath the water or swim terribly well. And even those who could swim well tended to lounge on land. It was just... easier.
So one couldn't be blamed for not seeing the Chrysalis. Not only was it on the very edge of the water, but it was the color of it. It was a grey blue in color, allowing it to blend into the water and the stone. It was almost perfectly round in shape, as though it would roll if it were thrown. It had been there for a long, long time, the Gemling inside taking her sweet time growing.
But now it was finally time for her to Hatch. The Chrysalis began to shake, and rattle, before cracking along oneside. The Gemling attempted to push herself free, only to cry out as the jagged edge of the Chrysalis tore a gaping wound into her side.

Asimona was stalking along the shore of the water, her eyes following the crystalline water flowing, watching for signs of fish that would swim by. She wasn't particularly hungry, but she wouldn't say no to a snack. However, there was no flash of silver or movement underneath the flowing water and she lowered her head, disappointed.
She then saw a flash of red and her heart leaped in her chest. Was it him? Had he come back to torment her again? But she realized that it wasn't scales and it was steady getting larger. A closer look at the water and she realized that it was some cloud rising from the side of the river.
She sniffed and fear clenched at her stomach. That was blood!
Without hesitation, she leaped into the water, holding her wings close to her side. She paddled weakly, but strong enough to get her to the chrysalis in the water. She leaned forward and snatched it in her jaws before pulling herself out of the water.
Without hesitation, she struck at it with her claws to try and break it open, but the jagged edge stabbed into her hand and she flinched back, drops of blood falling from her paw.
She leaned down and nosed the little creature sticking out. "I'm sorry, I tried to get you out, but you have to do it. You can do it, I believe in you!" She didn't know why she was saying this, the words were just spilling out. She needed to help this little creature. To hell with all the walls and masks, this gembound needed her!

The Gembound whimpered. She'd only just come to consciousness, and yet she felt pain. Why? It hurt! And she didn't like it! But no matter how she squirmed, the jagged opening only digging further into her blubber. She thrashed, attempting to break free, as the Chrysalis was suddenly pulled, being dragged away from where it had once been anchored.
She gasped as the water that had been filling the Chrysalis drained, seeping through the crack she'd rent into the Chrysalis. And then there was a crack, but nothing more happened. She could feel something nudging against the small bit of her stucking out of the crack, making her squirm. Finally, she managed to thrash hard enough, that the Chrysalis shattered.
A small, fluffy white, round creature rolled out of the Chrysalis, some of her white fur red with blood. She looked up at the dragon with eerie black eyes, trying to figure out what had just happened.

Asimona breathed a sigh of relief when the little white thing tumbled out. She immediately bent down and began to lick the blood from her side, cleaning out bits of the shell from the wound. It would be best to clean the wound before it got infected. Once she was down, she spat out the crystals that had been caught in her mouth and bent down to sniff the little creature to make sure it wasn't hurt anywhere else.
Now that she was calming down, she felt her magic begin to flow in her again and the cold aura manifested around her. However, it suddenly soaked into her skin and she shivered as cold crept into her body. Maybe it was because she was all wet?
She stepped back from the small thing to give it some room to breath. She sat down on the ground to put herself a little more on its level. She might be young, but she still found herself considerably larger than lots of fully grown creatures, especially those her age. "Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere else?"

The little leopard seal looked up at the larger Gemling with eerily dark black eyes, trying to figure out what she was looking at. It was large, much larger than her, and more of a grey color, where she was white. As she watched, the big grey thing leaned down, and something began to roll along her side. The little round Gemling rolled onto her side, allowing the dragon better access to the wound.
The leopard seal cub shivered as the dragon suddenly began to give off a cold chill, before the feeling quickly went away. What had that been?
As the dragon gave her some room, the Gemling rolled over to be right-side-up again. She tilted her head at the dragon, finding it much easier to look at now. The seal took a moment to see if she felt any pain aside from her side. Finally, she shook her head, saying, "Yes, I'm fine. Are you?"
Asimona smiled with relief. The little creature was okay.
She raised her claw, looking carefully at the wound. She ran her tongue a few times over the cut to clean it out before giving it a flex. It hurt, but it wasn't too bad. It would heal pretty quickly. "Yeah, I'm okay. Heck of a hatching, huh?"
She chuckled as she lowered her claw back to the ground were she rested it gingerly. There was a small throb, but otherwise it was okay. "My name is Asimona," she said to the seal. "Do you have a name?"

Pelt looked up at the larger Gemling, wondering what she was thinking. The older Gemling seemed to be analyzing her claw, and if she tilted her head she could make out red on the silver colored scales. Had she been hurt getting her out? The larger Gemling ran her tongue over the claw a few times, before flexing it. Thankfully, she didn't seem to be hurt, as more red didn't appear to replace what had been there.
At the dragon's words, she couldn't help but to giggle quietly. "It was! I'm glad you're okay." she smiled, inclining her head.
"Asimona?" she beamed, nodding at the dragon. "That's a nice name! I'm Pelt!" the word came to her mind instantaneously, rolling off her tongue easily.
