The young peryton walked through the different stone rooms in Orion in a delicate fashion. Front elk legs moved gracefully – picking up at each step, then sweeping down gently to brush at the ground with a light clipping sound, while his hind quarters raked behind him almost gratingly where talon met the ground. He flicked his ears and gazed about his surroundings with moist grey eyes and and snuffed through his little black, wet nose, unsure of who he was or where he should go. Rafael’s chrysalis had recently hatched here and he’d chosen to stay in Orion for the world outside seemed scary to the infant. Feeling fatigued suddenly, he collapsed into a bundle onto the ground, exposed to all of Orion along one of the main “streets”, and began to bleat plaintively at no one in particular, perhaps just feeling very much lost, alone and sad for himself. He then attempted to draw forth his magic from within. The feeling of this power did not surprise the peryton for he was born as such – he had no knowledge that having any particular magic set him apart. It was a norm, and he was fully aware that his magic existed though not to what extent. Stopping his bleating for a while, he attempted to draw forth the power from his chest and blow away the small pebbles surrounding him.

Alas, he was too hungry, tired, cold and lost. The magic shot through him instead and he felt the impact thud against his chest, blowing himself back a couple paces.Instantly, his fragile body crashed into a building and he fell, winged body crumpled and forlorn. The pain began then, and the peryton, not sure of what else to do, began to bleat in desperation.

It was one of those rare times that Vazi found himself alone, truly alone. Wynry was safely tucked away back near Polaris and he was here, exploring. He didn't know why he was so far away, he just was. Perhaps he was trying to find a new place for his little family to roam or perhaps it was just blind luck that led him this way. Either way, it would be good for the little bundle the young deer had yet to find.

On the little creature's head his antlers were still growing. The antlers were easily seen now and had a slight curve to them, along with a tine growing above each brow. It gave him great satisfaction whenever he could use these brow tines to stab anything. They certainly were fun to play with and even better to fight with! The young four-pointer moved along through Orion, gazing at the splendor of the "stars" above when he heard a sound. A bleating noise, not unlike the one he usually made himself.

The deer acted then without thinking and ran straight towards it. If someone was in pain then he would help them!

Before long he happened upon a small deer. Or at least... it reminded him of a deer, the front half anyhow. The rear of this creature was shaped like a bird's while it also had a bird's wings. How peculiar! Vazi approached the creature slowly, eyes kind and a friendly smile on his face. "Hey there, little one, are you lost? What is your name?" He said softly as he finally neared and lay down in front of the strange deer.

Pain shot through Rafael's shoulder and burst into a multitude of shocks through his spine. The base of his head also hurt from the impact, for the last point of his antlers had cushioned the fall by jamming into the wall, making him recoil forward and smashing his skull. The elk knew not what it was to whimper so bleating was the only form of communication that came to him right now. His voice echoed weakly in the open area while grey eyes gazed about sadly. Orion seemed desolate at this moment.

Someone approached him them. The fawn flicked his ears and snuffed at it through his moist nose. The creature felt like himself though not quite. Something about this stranger was strikingly familiar. It moved over slowly, clearly oblivious of the flying impact which had just occured - a warm smile on its features sent Rafael bleating at the deer, directly addressing him to stop the pain. Words went in and out of the young peryton's mind. He just needed the pain to stop, it hurt his shoulders and back so bad. Without warning, Rafael curled over and stumbled awkwardly to the side where he lay, panting, limbs splayed out awkwardly from the jarring impact which had just occured. Dust lay over his pelt, and clung stubbornly to his back as evidence of this incident.

Obviously this one could not speak, only bleated out... something. What was it trying to say? Vazi took in everything around them, the cliffs... the strange deer at the bottom? Had it fallen? With how young it seemed to be that was a distinct possibility! His steel gray eyes locked with the creature. It had fallen! What could he do though? He'd never dealt with an injury and he couldn't see anything. Perhaps some water? Would soaking the deer's body in cool water make it feel better? Cold did take away some pain, right?

The young fawn moved to the other's side and concentrated. He could feel a tingle in his chest as his magic began to work. Molecules of water from the air started to form around the fawn and be drew them to himself. The water hung around him for a moment, not a lot but just enough to dampen a coat, before Vazi pushed it away and towards the strange deer lying next to him. Hopefully it would put some of the cool water into the other's fur and bring some sort of comfort. Vazi was no healer but maybe that would help. He hoped so.

"Does that feel better?" He asked, hoping that the young one wouldn't start shivering from cold. If he did well... Vazi did have a warm pelt.

The sparks shot through his back as an aftermath of his nervous system being affected from the impact. The gembound looked at Vazi mournfully and saw the deer begin to work some magic. Water formed, and plastered onto the parts of his fur that hurt. Rafael felt wet, and that made him more miserable. However, as the water started to cool off, the sodden part of his back felt cooler and soothed him. ”Don’t go,” the gembound felt in his mind with fright and attempted to work his magic to get the water to stay. Concentrating, the diamond on his chest started to glow in accordance with the hybrid’s want for the cool feeling to continue. Colder, colder…slowly, the water alongside his injured areas began to freeze up and numb his pain. Rafael felt the ice reach its temperature with a “click” in his mind, and gave a contented sigh, before smiling happily at Vazi, the one who had saved him. Rafael then shuffled over in an attempt to snuggle into Vazi’s fur for comfort, careful not to poke the other with his antlers. He felt that he could trust this one.

Rafael looked at Vazi as he asked him the question. In that moment of relief, the peryton nodded and struggled to speak. "Ra-fael." He tucked his head in and nodded a few times, indicating his name. Then, he moved his muzzle forward and attempted to bump the other gently on the shoulder. "You?" The words were foreign on his tongue, and he wasn’t sure he had gotten the right vocabulary, and sincerely hoped that this saviour would understand him.

Vazi watched curiously as the smaller and younger deer froze the water on his form, effectively making a sort of icy cocoon of comfort. It seemed that his hunch had been right and the young one wasn't freezing. Good. The young stag smiled at the other cervid.

Rafael? That must be his name. "Rafael. I am, Vazi." The young one looked up from where the other must have come from. Had he hatched here? He didn't seem very old... His steel gray gaze returned to the youngster. "Have you just hatched?"

The deer took an interest in him and gave his name! Vazi. Rafael inhaled deeply, registering the texture of Vazi’s fur and his scent. The peryton snuffed through his moist, wet nose and raised his deep grey eyes to meet the other’s gaze then as the deer asked him a question. Did he just hatch? The elk gave a rumbling sound from his throat and nodded vigorously. Ears flapped up and down comically along with every shake of his head as he once again, repeated the throaty sound. It was in fact just a couple of hours since he’d arrived onto Origin. The young peryton was unsure of what to do, or where to go. He lifted his soft, gentle gaze to Vazi and then, his stomach rumbled.

Ah, so that was one question answered. Now, what would he ask now? The young stag thought for a moment but was interrupted by the rumbling stomach. He gave a laugh before bumping the young deer with his nose. "Come on! Let's find you something to eat." With that he stood up and attempted to lead the younger deer away. There was a bush a couple of feet away with a few tasty berries. He tilted his antlers towards this bush as an attempt to point out the way.

After he was sure the other deer had followed him he began to demonstrate the whole eating process. "Mmm, good." He said peering down at the strange deer-bird.

The moment his stomach rumbled, the adult deer laughed. Rafael's ears swept back as he gazed at Vazi wide-eyed, unsure if the gembound was mocking him or finding the sound itself funny. But then, Vazi kindly bumped him on the nose and spoke kind words, and so he nickered at the adult softly and then got up onto his legs and followed Vazi to the promised source of food. Rafael moved with an elegant, dancing gait, delicate forehooves placed with neat clatter upon the floor while hawk legs lifted and landed not unlike that of a flamingo. An ethereal, freakish aura shrouded the calf who held his head regally and seemed to gaze at the world through soft eyes. Snorting and shaking his head as the sweet scent of berries filled his nose, he pawed the ground in excitement as he neared the patch and began to dig in. Moist, warm juice burst into his mouth with each chew and he swallowed with great care, savouring every tint of crimson the berries could offer. Done with the succulent treat, Rafael drew back and blinked at Vazi with the dark juice staining the sides of his muzzle. The peryton snuffed at Vazi then, imprinting the scent of his fellow deer as the source of food and all things good. Then, he vocalized a screech and a couple other soft elk-bird sounds and pawed the ground impatiently, waiting for Vazi to lead the way to whatever they’d do next.

The older buck watched as the younger stag ate the berries of the bush. Vazi himself began to chew cud, savoring the taste of the delicious berries he had browsed earlier. It wasn't until the little bird-deer had finished eating did Vazi smile down at him and tilted his antlers towards the exit. There were other things he needed to do, like get this adorable fawn up to Wynry to meet! He was certain his little brother would be absolutely thrilled to have another friend.

With that he made his exit, flicking his tail and bleating for the fawn to follow him.
