In the middle of Tunnel I, there was a completely round, clear chrysalis attached to the wall. If anyone were to look closely, they would be able to tell that a small rodent of some kind resided in it. However, to look closely, another creature would have to see it in the first place, which was not likely. It blended in almost completely with the walls of the tunnel and was only a little bit larger than a grapefruit.

Well, this grapefruit was ready to hatch.

It was getting kind of cramped. Barra thought maybe it was time to leave, to find a better home.

So he started to shove against the clear walls of his chrysalis.

Barraden had decided to call himself such only a day ago when he'd first opened his eyes. He had awoken to the sound of voices and the flicker of light. The things on the other side of his wall had called each other names, some of them quite interesting. Barra thought this would be a fun game, so he chose one for himself. Barraden.

He couldn't wait to tell someone his name.

It was the crack that he heard--the crack that drew him, a muffled sound that brought with it a flickering memory. Someone hatching..?
Fireheart came forward quietly, half-grown and lanky on with the whisper of padded paws. He spotted the creature--tiny--and then, above it, and only after some searching with his eyes, he saw the cracked, clear stone in the wall. "Hello?" he called to it, hesitant. He didn't want to get too close, either, in case he frightened the thing.

It isn't food, right-? It's a baby... something?
The young wolf hesitated. "Are you all right?" he asked--unsure, as yet, what else to do.
