It was nestled into the corner of Canis, where Lyra had hidden it before leaving for the Trials. Just peeking out beneath a pile of dirt that had at last settled. She'd been in there for a while, far longer then the recovery time. Perhaps she was used to sleeping and had drifted off farther into unconsciousness. Perhaps the guilt had kept her sleeping for longer then she meant. Either way, when she woke up, she didn't break out immediately.

The situation weighed heavily on her head. For good or for bad, her own daughter had put her in here. She'd threatened her, forced her back, and ripped her apart to keep her from going into the Trials. She....she understood why she'd done it, but the sting of betrayal still twinged painfully in her veins.

With a sigh, she began spreading out, ready to do this all again. The chrysalis cracked easily when she struck out at the ceiling, dirt raining down on her head. She hissed and flinched back, trying to keep it from falling in her eyes and, as she did so, felt it drop onto what felt like feathers on the back of her head. Did...did I mutate? She tried to turn around and see what else had changed, but it was too cramped in here, too dark. She needed out.

So she focused back to the top of the chrysalis. She raised herself and got her head through the hole she'd made, the rest of her body following suit. Well, until just past her hood, when a bulge around the outside of her body stopped her. She looked back, concerned, forcing against the side of the chrysalis, but she couldn't break herself free. She tugged and pulled, pausing when it started to grow painful and she had to admit that she was totally stuck.

Well...this was a familiar situation.
