It was incredibly windy outside the cave Oskar and his family called home. The second he'd stepped out into the open, his hair was swept back and upwards, and he was forced to squint against the breeze. No wonder Mother hadn't wanted them to venture outside without being careful. The winds felt like they would sweep him off his feet already (and that was here where the winds weren't as strong).

But he'd decided he wanted to play somewhere else today. Sitting in the same cave with his sister and mother was growing so boring. Especially when he could occasionally hear what was outside. The noises of Monoceros so rarely quieted for long.

And, once he got used to it, the wind felt nice. The warm air brushed against his face, tussled his hair; it had a wonderful feeling of freedom, weightlessness and excitement. As if he could be swept up and fly on the winds and elation alone. He had to cover his mouth with a chubby palm as he giggled at the thought. Oskar knew he had to be quiet or he might get caught and be in trouble for sneaking out without telling anyone.

He knew he wasn't supposed to sneak away, but how could it be naughty when it was so fun. Not to mention he could get away from his sister for a while, because she was super annoying, always just doing things! Ugh! How unreasonable!

Naturally, he'd brought his emotional support wooden horse, Pinkdreams, with him. The painted pink horse's mane and tail were also billowing in the winds from her clutch between Oskar's tummy and crooked elbow. She wanted to see the world just as much as he did! It would be awful to leave her behind while he went on this adventure himself.

So, off they went, keeping the entrance to home in sight as they toddled into the open. Only to stop a few feet away and crane over to watch a green crawler as it made its way across the dirt; no doubt in search of minerals, but Oskar didn't know that. So he popped a squat and watched the insect with rapt interest. His brows furrowed with all the concentration of a businessman overseeing operations.

It'd been a few days since the two gembound had come out of their chrysalises. Anne was first, of course, and she wasn't afraid to let her younger brother know it. Their mother had tried her best and was perfectly servicable, of course, but it didn't stop her newborn children from being absolute menaces.

The lights had dimmed out hours ago, though Anne was still awake. She intentionally waited until mother was busy with the forge before she invaded Oskar's side of camp, barrelling in with long, skinny legs and fat arms flailing, tussling around the bedroll where he was trying to sleep.

For no reason, of course, other than she felt like torturing her sibling today.
<spk>"All you do is SLEEP!"</spk> She bemoaned, cloven hooves kicking in the air as she tried to coordinate her spidery limbs to pull herself upright again. <spk>"Why were you born if all you do is go back to sleep?"</spk>
It did not matter, incidentally, how much or how little Oskar had slept as of late. He was sleeping now, and that was a point of contention that Anne could use in whichever war they were waging on each other.

Dip liked having kids around.
Shiloh, her daughter, wasn't really around anymore-- and even then, it'd been some time since she was a child. She had also, incidentally, made the mistake of mentioning this to Vivilene, who had also not been a child in many years. And... well, it was hard to say no to that face.
They sat around Dip's forge. The humanoid lifted herself up and offered a hand. A piece of her stone cleaved off her palm. "Here," she said. "Just focus your magic on it."
It is extremely important, if you want your body to stay limber and functional, to stay active and do your stretches every day. This is why Jim was currently doing so. After waking up, he first went through a long, satisfying routine of physical stretches. Then he started thinking about breakfast, and his magical stretches, which he always liked to combine together in a show of efficiency.

His Jim Senses extended, returning flickers of Gembound signatures that were relatively weak and hard to read. That was all right, and even to be expected; he was just warming up after a good night's sleep, after all. From the positions of the Gembound entities he sensed, he could make educated guesses at which ones were probably his preferred prey hiding or foraging in the gorges, and which ones were not relevant to his breakfast for one reason or another. He noted the locations of which prey-like entities were closest, so that he could finish hunting them down when he was ready.

A tricolor hunk of Mookaite is nestled upon one of the platforms along Monocero's outer edge. Its surface has been polished smooth by roughly a cycle of sand being pelted against it's surface. Within it stirs magicka and life, and restless creature itching to break free.

If the universe was kind, the creature that hatches would be a thing with wings- a bird or bat or one of those new-fangled 'dragons.' Or maybe a lizard, a gecko, anything that could easily and safely descend from this precarious perch.

However today, indifference reigns supreme. The little lamb that struggles free from their gemstone shell is by no means ill-suited to this terrain, but they certainly aren't going to have an easy time climbing down. The gembound peers curiously over the ledge, warm air buffeting them as they stare at the entirety of Monoceros, the wind-carved canyons and the magnificant whirlwind in the room's center. They do not know to fear the heights, yet, so all they feel is a quiet awe at their newfound existence. The world is big, the air is warm, and I am alive.
