Somewhere between Orion and Monoceros, a chrysalis jutted out of a rock on the side. It was red, surrounded by a clear material, but all of this was unknown by the Gembound inside, who had not yet awoken. She would learn the location, but not the color. There was no need for color when she was blind from birth.

A gemstone visor stretched across her eyes, sunken into her head. She stirred. Her first impression was of warmth, and something close by, pressing into her. It was rough and comforting, but it was too close for her. She stretched, pressing against the closerough. A crack, close to her head. She pushed again. Another crack, repeated faintly. She could feel cold to her right, and started pushing that way. A part of the closerough fell away, and so did she.

She landed on something cold and smooth, and instinctively started feeling around with her tail. She felt a rough surface similar to the closerough from earlier but grainier. She pushed downwards onto the coldsmooth, trying to get up.

She used too much strength, she knew it. She launched herself into the air before landing back down on the coldsmooth and sliding, catapulting almost to the Orion end of the tunnel before stopping and falling flat on her face. She spat out some dust loosened from hitting a wall.

The incipiently, physically reformed Rinaotei was still getting used to ambulating again, what with these sudden changes to her body. Sure the vicissitudes weren't that big, but still big enough to affect how she moves. Which is the major reason, about why ambulating is being a small challenge.
Still... Does this mean she can now fly when she gets used to this? That's... Rather astounding actually, somewhere in the back of her mind she desired a wish to fly, to gainsay the laws of gravity and have more freedom than ever in her exploring. She isn't sure if she genuinely likes this change, seeing how this change is in correlation to the incident that took place before going into true deep slumber. Genuinely... The swords, the strange new magic, everything about that newcomer was strange. And yet she wanted those spells. Had they made them? Could she make new spells? She had to know. She needed to know. The paintings were unlike anything she'd ever seen begore, and they remained even when the painter was gone. The spectral figure of herself seemed to have a mind of its own, so it was not simply an illusion of light. Something was different about them, and Kin-Kin was simply dying to know what.
Kin-Kin turned in a flash, cape swishing behind her as she wondered if the little spectral wolf had followed her home. She didn't see it, and her heart sank. Kin-Kin sat back on her haunches to wait, ears perking up, just in case she was going too fast for it.

The cave of Tunnel M has been very silent and still ever since a particular incident took place in the time of tenebrosity. The only sounds were the plummeting water and the dim pattering from the trickles of water that sieved through the cavern's slabs of rock. And of course the rippling of water in one of its lakes which had something in particular in its depths. The haunted silence was a stark contrast to when a particular incident took place here, which was filled with horrific sounds of violence which resounded throughout the cave. Low, furious snarls and the sound of flesh being torn with drops of blood and the puissant surges of Magick what they were. This all took place for when the lights had gone out and then stayed silent thoroughly from then on.

The return of the lights shows besides a flood, nothing in the cavernous Tunnel is obnubilating in the shadows that appear to be a cause for alarm. Everything was still covered in snow, ice and the dribbling of water which clung onto the slabs of rock and the cavern's sundry jagged rock teeth. The returned lights bathed everything in a variety of colours, but mostly white from the snow. But just further in, was a broken part of a rock ledge and small dulled stains of blood that splashed on some of the rock faces. The rest of the damage caused by the devastation of the incident seems to have all but vanish with time.

But, at the bottom of the land of this silent cavern, lies another thing that came from the fruits of that incident. It was on the shore of the vast lake, grey from being fairly deep down to not be able to accumulate as much light. Something sat there, a moiety of it still in the water while the rest of it sat safely on land, slightly bobbing in the water. It was a Chrysalis. The glassy shell, a size of a slightly large canine with colours of light blue and turquoise green patches, with a tiny speck of yellow adorned along the center. A chrysocolla chrysalis in other words. It did not bear a Gemling, it contained someone who has lived for quite some time and ended in this state when she was consumed by consummate madness from a virus that plagued her.

And soon it shall be time for her to live once again, time rejuvenating in this most likely has taken its time to rejuvenate her mind.

The being encased within was finally starting to become restless, being bound to the inside of the chrysalis with its walls as sturdy as a Gem should be. The being writhed against her restraints but nothing came of it, her body feels odd giving her an arduous time to muster the strength. She makes herself go slack for a second, and clears her mind, but keeps her muscles as clenched as they possibly can, which was facile on how cramped it was in the interior. She makes another endeavor pushing against her bindings once again, this time with a more composed mind she notices that her back has a lot more muscle than before... No, it's more than that. Making utilization of this, her strength courses through all her muscles and a cascade of cracking sounds was produced in her efforts. As this odd new strength, she can't quite make out, causes the walls of the Chrysalis to start breaking away like a net, strained crackling being picked up by her ears.

Soon with her efforts, the Chrysalis shattered, a flash of light that seeped out of the cracks from the inside exploded, eradicating the rest of the shell with shards of the Chrysalis flying everywhere. The flash of light emanated from the being who made their escape, at last, the light made it arduous to make out her appearance for now but her white silhouetted figure could be seen rising up as it did what appeared to be coughing up the ooze that filled her lungs from when she was inside, she didn't mind it an extravagant amount of it, as it was far better than when her lungs were filled with icy water which contributed to her near death experience.

With that done gradually, she climbed up the rocks to reach back to where the cavern was filled to the brim with snow. The burst of light enveloping her being started to dim when she finally reached safely back up, her appearance will soon be more clear to see when the flash of light is gone as she takes in her surroundings. Taking note of how she can see where she is now.

In the dark, Gabriel hadn't seen much for many cycles. It had kept an eye on the surroundings by extending its senses out towards the millions of tiny organisms coating the world and creatures all around. using this, it had been able to seek prey and navigate through the dark.

It had become safe to assume that the lights would never return, so when they did, Gabriel's eyes certainly weren't prepared. The sudden blaze caused the pup... now a full-grown dog, to halt in its tracks, limbs stiff with the sudden brightness. A soft growl stirred in the little one's throat as it blinked away the pain and gradually came to focus on the world around. It was its birthplace; a foreboding kind of place to the emotion-driven, and one that Gabriel had not left. Not since the task it had been given.

The emotion-driven comrades of the dog had long-gone, it assumed, but clear as day, the motive was still there. All the glistening gems clinging to the piles of bones sparked a slight roll of Gabriel's eyes. The Emotion-driven had decided to go off on a mission of their own folly, when all the while their target right under their noses. Of course, it was Gabriel's fault too, for trusting their judgement. It would have to learn from this mistake.
With one last blink of its bright red eyes, Gabriel approached the nearest pile of bones, looking for one with a visible gem that was small enough for the tiny canid to carry.
A few cycles had passed since Aaliyah left Imperia, and she was...not faring well. Now that she was free, she had no idea what to do. Cycles had passed, and she was just as lost when she first left them as she is now. Her paws dragged across the ground as she walked, trying to find something to do. Or someone to talk to. The lights were off when she fought Imperia, and they still were now. She hadn't come across anyone else. She also hadn't eaten, and she clearly looked that way. She'd come across a mouse here and there that she'd catch to at least keep herself alive, but she didn't hunt outside of that.

Her ribs were clearly visible, and her fur was all over the place. She hadn't groomed herself recently either. Her fur wasn't looking very well. She continued walking, her paws moving as though they had their own mind. Her side was constantly brushing against something, perhaps the wall, though she paid it no attention. While walking, something seemed to change. She blinked a couple of times, looking around.

She realized with a jolt that she could see. It had been so long since she'd last been able to see this well. Her eyes hurt now, since they had become so accustomed to the darkness. She sat down and closed them, wincing. Slowly, she opened them again until they were adjusted. She looked around. Orion looked the same as she remembered. She couldn't see anyone around, and wondered if maybe everyone had retreated into their chrysalis. She had thought about it, but simply didn't have the energy. Even now, she didn't. Now that she had stopped walking, she felt exhausted.

She took a few steps forward, wanting to get away from the edge of Orion in hopes she'd find someone better that way. She swayed on her paws, but dug her claws in, attempting to keep herself upright. A few more paws steps, and she collapsed in a heap of messy fur. She was starving and exhausted, and didn't know whether she would make it. All of this. Going against Imperia, only for her to die. She kept her eyes open as best she could, refusing to give in. She would make it! She just had to hope someone, anyone, would come.

Dark caverns snaked their way along the underground like a coil of knotted snakes. The tunnels had a cool darkness to them. However, some of the caverns were faintly lit by a scattering of bioluminescent mushrooms tucked into tiny patchwork crevices. Barely revealed by the tiny speaking of lights stood a large stone of pale yellowish green hiding in a bend of one of the smaller tunnels. The air was still in an almost peaceful silence. Even the occasional reverberating footsteps of wondering beasts were largely absent at this moment.

The moment was short lived, however. Shadows were cast along the opposite wall as the prehnite chrysalis took a small shake. A gash appeared along the edge, cracking like a spark of lightening along the stone. Shards of the gemstone clambered, echoing in the distant tunnels, as a large hole was formed. And from out of that jeweled egg came …

Nothing.

The echos continued for a while before settling down into relative peace once more. The egg stood motionless as though ignoring the fact that it had just ruptured. And indeed, that is precisely what had happened. Pale green eyes matching the prehnite stone blinked out from the opening. Yet nothing else moved. For the chrysalis, the name entered her mind from either a strange instinct or memories passed on from others of the caverns, was a safe place. No trouble ever entered its confines. This new place … such things could not be guaranteed. Inside it was dark and warm from the trapped body heat. The tunnels were lit, causing pupils to swell, and the air rushing past had a faint chill to it. No, it was not a place to explore when a perfectly suitable home was available. And so nothing happened.

Time continued on despite the stubbornness of the new creature. One’s defiance mattered not in the grand scheme of things. Peace once again returned. Only to be interrupted once again.

Gurggle. A sharp yow followed the strange sound. It was new! And it gave a sense of dread. And that was how the new being discovered that one cannot simply stay put in their chrysalis forever.

At the foot of the Spire, there lay a chrysalis. It was light blue and dazzling in the luminescence of the large blue crystal that towered above all Polaris. Inside was a Gembound in the form of a small cheetah. She was waking up for the first time in her life, and her limbs extended outward by instinct in an attempt to break out of her egg. Her first attempt, however, was a failure. Luckily, her lungs were not yet working, stuck as she was in the “yolk” of her chrysalis, and wouldn’t until she broke free, but still, the feeling of entrapment caused her to panic. She tried to cry out, but her voice was caught and muffled in the amniotic fluid. Her only option was to try again.

It was dark, so dark. And so silent. Joy stumbled blindly through the caves, somehow making his way to Polaris. Or what he thought was Polaris. He hadn't been paying any attention, just walking on instinct, his legs moving on their own. His eyes were blurred, and he wasn't focusing on anything. What was there to focus on? It was dark, and for the first time in his life, he was alone.

No Emendri. No Fira. No Destiny.

He had never been so alone. Destiny was dead, and he had no idea where Emendri or Fira were. He had just wandered away after Destiny's death, so overcome with grief that he ignored everyone else. After he had cried his heart out when he saw Destiny, dead, tears didn't come again. His heart felt like it was empty, with a hole in it where all the happiness he'd had trickled out.

His name felt like it was mocking him. Joy. What joy was there, with one mother dead, and the other nowhere to be found? He was alone. He had no one, and it might stay that way. And if he did find someone, what would they think of him? He was a hybrid. He was weird, and he'd always known it. But he had never seen anyone other than his family, never seen anyone who would judge him. That didn't change the fact that he was weird looking.

He sighed, and paused, looking around. But he couldn't see a thing - it was still too dark, just as it had been for nearly 2 cycles. It was still silent, and it felt suffocating. The walls that he couldn't see seemed to be closing in, and he collapsed. He had stopped thinking and started focusing, and was starting to regret it. He wished he could just make it stop, to not feel so empty, to not feel as though he was suffocating. He crouched down, his weird, webbed feet over his eyes, and tried to get the feelings to just go away.

It has been hours since a lone wolf carelessly accepted the help of another Gembound, for showing her where the nearest ray of physical light is in the cave's current state of darkness. More days passed, and a greater awareness to the world came with them. The cracks were getting louder, more violent as piece by piece parts of his abnormally thick shell were struck by unknown objects and cleaved from the whole they had once been a part of. He knew he wouldn't have long now.
So there he resided, helpless inside a failing cloyster, until with one loud resounding crack a particularly large object struck and through a hairline crack that wrapped itself a quarter of the way around his shell exposed him to the outside air.

This was it, he knew he had no more time. If he was to survive he had to abandon home. Awareness of limbs sprung to life and instinctually he placed a taloned forepaw on the opposite wall as the crack had formed on and pushed.

A beautiful and wondrous feeling rose up within him as his forearm burst into light, illuminating the endless white around him and the yellow claw pressed up against his world’s side. A wave of explosive force shot out from his hand, completely shattering the wall of white and sending it flying into the darkness beyond. The howling roar became deafening as he activated previously dormant legs and leapt into the great unknown.

Claws gripped into the ground as a new force immediately took hold of him, pushing him forward, trying to take him away. He had to get through this, had to find safety!

The caves were often quiet, but for many cycles a little alcove had stood, quieter than most. A den perhaps dug by cave rats in aeons past now played host to the webs of spiders, and a large chrysalis of royal blue at its entrance, where it had stood for many cycles, and not just whilst the creature inside had been slumbering. Something, though heavens knows what, had caused the being within to stir, a creak barely audible from within. The creaking continued, followed by the occasional rap of stone upon stone...

A crack slowly spread over its lovely gold-streaked surface. A chip broke loose here and there... and in the end, the stone dumped its heavy load onto the cold, hard earth. Dripping and oozing, Eira's fluid-filled lungs spluttered and choked back to life. For a few moments the otter lay where she'd emerged, for, dispite the freedom to stretch her limbs, there was no light to tell her that she was indeed free.

Long moments passed...

Nothing.

Even despite her single eye gazing glazed off into the dark, there was nothing there. As she waited, however, the glows slowly began to reach her- a speck of glowing moss, a newly formed crystal...just enough for the otter to realize that yes, she was free. Slowly, Eira gathered shaking limbs beneath her and stood, slowly but surely.

Her proud, masked head rose up from the ground, suddenly heavy on her shoulders. The air was chilly against her scars and clear fluid slicked her fur flat. It had been so long, and yet something was wrong.

It shouldn't be this dark.

Had her disappearance let demons run wild?
