Was his body really made to fly easily? No, not really. He could go upwards, sure, but his lower half hung so low when he flew that going forward quickly was difficult. Thankfully though, he didn't need to really go anywhere quickly. Even now, as he hunted and searched for some birds to snag, he really only used his wings to fly upwards the mountain before landing on the ground and dragging his large body across the snow.

Finally he saw what he was looking for, the brightly colored bastards flying up in the sky, seemingly oblivious to his presence. Either that or they just didn't see him as a thread. Big fucking mistake.

He moved until he was directly under them before lunging upwards, using his wings to propel him into the sky as he clamped his jaws around one of the birds, quickly dragging it down to the ground. Perfect!

The chrysalis lay perfectly arranged, growing into something that'd be impossible to predict. Potential, one beyond her reach for a time. Not forever. She'd find them first, and she would embrace and absorb them into herself, into Dontaceal. Like the second Zoisite, hidden deep within the hollow mountain. They would be remade before they had the chance to make themselves.

A blessing. This was for the best for all involved.

A blessing.

There was a new point on the web. This one, Sister, was truly fresh. Like him, and his spawn-to-come, she'd been born into the family. But she was small, delicate - vulnerable in a way that Juggernaut had only ever observed, rather than experienced.

It was curious, yes. It did not know of its interests, or the way it preferred to deliver her will. But it was also testing itself by approaching it, its ability interact with children. And thus, as it was most days, it was nervous.

Within the Hive's tunnels, it drew closer to her location, prodding their connection as it did. It sought permission, but it moved at such a glacial pace it'd thought to start the journey beforehand. If Sister accepted, the wait would be brief.

In the depths of Ursa Major a rare event was occurring. Deep within the weave of tunnels, within a small, carved out pocket of ice, a clearstone chrysalis hung. It was formed strangely, though it did not look out of place within the tunnels. An icicle dangling from the ceiling. Her form laid within the center of the chysalis, a grey shape distorted and refracted within the crystals depths. She shifted. A crack sounded, loud as a glacier splitting within the silence of that pocket. Lines carved themselves into the base of the chrysalis, where crystal met cave. Then, they began to grow. Slimy chrysalis fluid begin to drip. Then trickle. Then pour. Then, the bottom gave out in a shower of dust and shards.

She fell as a heavy, foetal lump in the center of it all. Wet. Pulsating. Her sacs deflated. Tentacles wrapped around her head. She shivered. The tentacles slid off her melon. The thing that would be known as Sister lifted her head. Her eyes retracted within her melon in a form of blinking. She took stock of her surroundings. Dark blue. Blurry. She could only make out the ice beneath her. She raised a heavy, odd feeling arm. She twisted the tentacle there, scraping it on the floor in a straight line. She liked the noise it made. She liked that it left a pale line. She wanted to play with it more. But she needed to observe. What else? Cold. Scentless. Wet. She shuddered, wrapping her tentacles tighter. She did not like being cold. Was anyone there? She could not tell. All was blurry. She wanted to find someone. Instinctively, Sister split her head. Juggernaut knew of Noctua, and he got the gist of what it contained, echoing through the Hive's chatter. A world without walls. No ceiling, only space, stretching outwards eternally, beyond time and sight.
He had heard of Noctua, and Juggernaut knew it would break him.
He had returned to the chamber he'd been created in. There was no shattered remains of a chrysalis. Not a speck of clearstone dust in sight. It was as if he'd never been born - he simply was, and would be forever.
It'd been so easy to forget beginnings and endings. Perhaps that was part of her design. But Juggernaut had a beginning, and he would have an end. Three stones in his possession. He'd collected them in his own time, stashing them away in the crevices of his own immense anatomy. She had a faint recollection of the room. The mirrors were ominous and when she got close enough, it looked like there were a dozen other Willows staring back at her. It was difficult to navigate, the ceiling streched on forever and it almost seemed to wind like a snake. When she flew, she risked ramming into the crystalline walls.
There was something new, though-- dappled white fungus that lined the walls and burrowed into corners. Very interesting.
Her talons clicked against the smooth floor as she approached them. A hundred thousand ivory bubbles reflected in the crystal. They didn't look like any mushrooms that she could remember: and the actual number of them was difficult to tell. How did they get here? Why where they here?
She stuck her beak close, checking the undersides thoughtfully.

Her shoulder throbbed with pain, but she was much more clear-headed then she'd been when she'd fallen asleep. Still, fuck, she was sore all over. Her head lifted from where it had been resting against her paws and she took stock of her surroundings.

First of all, the diamond was still under her body. Ok that was good, the damn dog hadn't tried to steal it from her again. Second of all, said dog was sitting against the wall opposite to her, and he looked like he was snoozing, with what looked like a black fedora (where had he gotten that from?) resting over his face. And third, behind him was a mural of a giant white worm with spikes and spines. It wasn't....really the ice worm. It looked more like just a sandworm painted white, but she was impressed by the artistry of it.

<spk>"Huh,"</spk> she rasped, voice cracking from dryness. <spk>"That's kind of cool."</spk>

She had to admit, there was a newfound appreciation for the canine - yeah he'd bitten the fuck out of her and shit, but he didn't need to stick around. It would have been all too easy to just snatch up the diamond and leave. She didn't know why the fuck he was interested in having a piece of her stone, but. Eh. It wasn't a huge deal to her. He did beat her in a fight and she had to respect him for the effort at least. And for the nice painting. She she had no problem reaching back and nipping off a piece of her peridot, a surge of magic cracking off a small shard.

Oh, right, she was supposed to be mad at him. She looked his way and spat the shard, getting that disapproving glare once again. <spk>"Alright, there's your rock. Now get out."</spk>

The nature of being a professional gossip-hound- or, in more formal terms, the eyes of Valkhand Aethril herself- was that Umbriel traveled a LOT. Most frequently to Draco, which was hardly a problem at all. But she couldn't favor The Chaos Forge, even if they were the only actually productive group in the caves. And the infection of Gemini, Canis, and Eridanus meant frequent trips to all three, while taking great care to avoid infection herself. The largely successful efforts to cleanse some of these caves was a great relief- not only did it mean she had less to worry about, but she could travel more freely without risking Order's hideous infection. Suddenly, it felt like she had room to breathe.

Unlike some of Vargas' wretched hounds, Umbriel would not break herself with work simply to prove that she could. She knew very well when she deserved a well-earned break. Like right now.

This grassy knoll was one of Umbriel's favorite spots in Cepheus. It was a excellent vantage point within short distance of Tunnel F, great for someone as nosy as herself.

Currently, she was curled up under the shade of the everblooming tree. What had started as a neat loaf had gradually melted into what can only be described as a 'sploot.' A blanket of petals across her back indicated she had been lying here for quite some time. Occasionally her ears would twitch at a particularly loud noise, and one piercing white eye would crack open to lazily squint at the source.

If only others in the forge actually listened to it but nooo they were busy "stabilizing" and "killing each other for no reason" (looking at YOU V-Ruby-One) or just sitting around to actually help out. If it had been her, imprisoned in her chrysalis under that rubble, perhaps she'd wouldn't feel so guilty. But she didn't even know who that poor soul was. She could not call his name to apologize, when he'd reawaken. Or to thank him for saving her.
That whispering voice that had started mocking her didn't help either. It cackled, reveling in her fear and shame. It's your fault. You destroyed him. Such is the fate of chaos... She hated every moment of it.
So steeling herself, Tourmaline padded across Polaris, to a place she'd her through word of mouth. The doorway to Emuh's domain yawned open before her, and she'd stand at the threshold, looking into the dark. Then she'd raise her voice, "Is this the place of Trials? I wish to prove myself!"
As much as she tried to hide her quivering, she couldn't help worrying. She told herself that she'd get stronger, learn to control her magic, prevent any more. But would that really help at all?

Ahh... this again.
The enclosed walls of moonstone supplied a sense of warmth and comfort. When Vivilene was younger, the claustrophobia had scared her-- now, it felt like a warm blanket, or swimming in warm water. There was a sense of disembodiment, though not the kind that made her nervous. Distantly, though, there was a little itch.

The kind of itch that happens in the morning when you have to pee. The kind of itch that happens when you've been at work too long and have to eat. The kind of itch that, when you sit still too long, you have to stretch your long, delicate cervine legs and yawn so loud you might as well be screaming.

I have to get up now, she knew. With a kick of her hind legs, the gemstone chrysalis came crumpling down around her and the cool air of Orion flooded across her fur. Vivilene grimaced, but she untangled her legs from under her and began to push up to stand.

She was naked, standing somewhere beneath the tower. A cursory glance told her where she was, at least-- the quartz-studded ceiling of Orion was unmistakable. Though she couldn't quite remember how she'd got here or why she fell asleep, instinct told her that she'd tucked her shawl and bags away safely somewhere nearby.

It wasn't difficult to find the shawl, either-- it glittered easily among black-and-grey rocks. Shaking legs took a step towards it and tied the soft cloth around her upper-half as she looked over the saddlebags that lay next to it. A cave mouse had chewed the base of one and taken the herbs inside-- herbs that were stale and likely not good anymore --and ran. The other was fine, though.

Vivilene lifted her saddlebags and twisted around, affixing them to her cervine-half. She'd have to find something to fix it with.
