Kerberos broke into a run. He did not feel a tug on his tail, and he knew, in that instant, that he was alone in the darkness. In the distance, he swore he heard a wing beat, and hopeful that it was Aza'zel, or even Krakarak or Raik-- any of them-- he thought he might find a way out of this mess.

"GIGGLE!" He continued to call, sprinting straight North as far as he could manage to go, tripping and tumbling over a few bones, but never abandoning his quest.

Ashtoreth squinted, trying to watch the strange bird creature, but as soon as it left just above her head, she lost it. Her ears perked, tentatively hoping she could follow the bird to wherever it was going. afflated, the child followed the trail South, thinking she had the best chance of keeping up with the bird.

The world sure was a strange place to be for such a tiny, minuscule noodle.

The bird's tiny wings flutter through the air, barely audible as a whisper of feathers through the darkness. It has taken off to the North, leading Kerberos true. Those that made the mistake of traveling South will have their feet caught briefly in a hole, inconveniencing them for only a couple seconds. They may trip or stumble. Those moving East will find no repercussions, but those traveling West will suddenly hear a frightening growl, loud and vicious enough that it could be construed as being right beside them.

The bird continues through the maze-like darkness.

Round 2/3
In your posts, please specify a direction that your character is heading: North, South, East, or West. There will be ONE true direction that the bird has gone. If a character goes in the wrong direction, they may be lucky enough to face no repercussions... or they may encounter the consequences of their poor tracking.

A sharp growl, authoritative, sounded behind the Ave. He about jumped out of his damn skin. It sounded as if it came from behind him, and the Bone King scampered away from it as fast as he could. Now, Azazel headed in a EASTERN direction. By gods, please let this end soon! Wherever Giggle had disappeared to or whatever had taken her, they better get out when they find them!

The sound of wing beats grew stronger in the loyal dog's ears. Reinvigorated and afflated, the canine charged forward, twisting along a path of bones he could just barely feel under his paws. His body was chasing the bird westerly now, though whether or not the bird was still guiding him he had yet to see.

Things sure would be a lot easier if the big dog wasn't blinded by all the blackness, but he had learned early on that his Torchlight was no good. He had to rely on his instincts, and so he did in that moment.

Tripping over her own paws, the tiny noodle let out a cry for help. She was all alone in the darkness now, and she had no idea where her friend could have gone. Perhaps she had gone in the absolute wrong direction? Hoping the bird was where she had left it, the mustelid hybrid crawled her way back north, hopeful that she wasn't going to be alone forever.

Hm... no, that wasn't right. Fallah shook her head. This wasn't the right way. She followed the large dog for a moment, then decided to try EAST again. She went cautiously, her nose twitching. Her red fur stood on end, large, blue eyes opened wide. Was this the right way? How would she know? Surely the thing wouldn't go north then south, so it had to go east or west, so Fallah chose East.
The darkness seems to pulse and shimmer the further these Gembounds travel through it. It seems to grow more viscous, as if they are wading through water. Sometimes, they will receive flashes of images in their minds, or smells, or sounds - not just any image, though. These flashes of distant perception seem to be localized to one familiar area.

The Eyes.

The hallowed caller continues through the dark. It has been heading East, leading Fallah and Aza'zel true. Those heading North will find themselves briefly ensnared in a tentacle in darkness that grabs their hind leg and drags them backwards a few feet, but they will be able to escape. Those traveling West progress unhindered. The bird hovers in the darkness for a moment, calling loudly to those following. They're getting close.

VINNIE THE VOICE

The seagull baby was cowering hard against the rocks, squeezed in with clamped-shut eyes and even clampier-shut beak, when he heard the crowing of a hallowed caller.

Of course, Vincenzo had no idea what a hallowed caller was, but in its cries he recognized something... same, a kindred spirit. Something similar to himself.

For an instant he was frozen between utter terror and desperation: did he follow this one hope, this single cry in the dark, or did he remain hidden and--hopefully--safe? He wasn't sure, at first, but then the brief flash of--something... Something he did not recognize, in the darkness, propelled him into action.

With a terrified squawking, Vincenzo leapt forward, fluttering useless, barely-feathered wings, hopping and tumbling after the caller's voice.

Or, at least, he hoped he was.

He went silent after a moment, sucked into a thick and viscious darkness, a void that filled his heart and mind with fear. The bird's calls were his only hope.

Vincenzo was heading WEST.

Ash was caught in the tendrils, her jaw opening to scream. No noise came from her frightened form, lost in the darkness, but being so young she had no idea what was happening. To her, she was simply a prey thing caught in a predators snare, and to her, she was going to die. The poor child just wanted to escape.

She perhaps should have turned tail to run back to safety, but she instead flapped her wings and squirmed forward, into the mess of shadow tentacles. She tried to get past them, trying desperately to find a wall with a hole she could hide in, away from the monsters in the darkness.

The noodle kept on going north.
