Ash was probably the biggest trouble maker in the history of Canis. No one ran off like she did, no one played around like she did-- even the big dumb brute of a dog kept closer and more well behaved than she did! And the half-mustelid seemed to take absolute joy in making as big a mess as she could.

Having spent a few days exploring Orion, she had found that there were so many places to hide that if she wanted to, she could run away and never come back. Not that she had any reason to-- the Bonebound were kind to her, and she loved her father and aunt dearly. It would be kinda funny to see what they would do if she didn't go home when she was supposed to, though. Kerberos wouldn't be able to track her even with those big sniffers of his!

Silently giggling to herself, the noodle darted through the abandoned city. She knew many a gembound here-- but she hadn't dared approach the scarred feline that prowled the scent-marked throne in the heart of the starlit room. He seemed dangerous... And so did that other feline she had only gotten glimpses of here and there. They seemed to notice when she was around, even when they couldn't see her. It put her on edge, and she avoided the throne...

Except for today. It seemed like, for once, the adults had run off somewhere. She hopped up the wall and peered through the crumbled cracks, catching a glimpse of the empty throne with bright eyes. It could be a trap, but her tail swished in a telltale way: she was all too eager to get into trouble. Worse came to worse, she just had to get Kerberos' attention and fly up to safety until he came, right? She wasn't the best at screaming for help, but...

The noodle shook her head. She wasn't scared of a pair of overgrown kittens! Besides, they weren't even home! She dropped down into the throne room and decidedly began to prowl closer, sniffing the area out, curiosity trembling through her fur.

It was unusually quiet. Remedy was still asleep tucked safely away behind the throne where they had hatched only days ago. After having made sure her sister would be okay, and that her parents were not lurking as they usually did, Cure had slipped away on what she had hoped to have been silent paws. She was nervous as first, having never gone anywhere without her twin glued to her side, nor without the ever piercing gazes of her parents, but the excitement that grasped at her was even greater.

Laughter rang from the hybrid leopard as she pounced after a small locust. She wasn't far from the throne, but she was far enough where she would not disturb her sister's slumber. Quickly the hybrid crouched, wide sapphire eyes watching unblinkingly. With a cry of attack Cure leaped up again, flailing her paws around in an attempt to grasp the bug in her grip.

It was only a matter of seconds before gravity pulled her back towards the ground and she tumbled a moment while keeping her paws clasped together. Rolling over she excitedly opened her paws to look and see if she had caught anything. A pout marred her features before she gave a snort and pushed herself up to her paws and look around once more.

"Stoopid booogz," She grumbled to herself as she stomped away from the area she had been in. It wasn't until a new smell caught her attention did Cure perk into attention. Her head swung up and she looked around instantly, wondering just what that smell belonged to. "Helloooo?" She called out, excitement quickly coursing through her as she pounced a few paces forward and looked around again. "I' s'mone there? Rrrrrrr is it just new bug," She mused with a wide grin, eagerly looking around.

Ash froze as a sudden burst of noise hit her ears. The mustelid puffed up to a bristly caterpillar of a mustelid, vibrant eyes searching for whatever the source of the laughter was. It wasn't long before her gaze met a bright, azure glisten in the shadows.

With a squeak, she tilted her head-- the creature was saying all sorts of things... Something about a Boogz... Bug? Whatever that was, Ash definitely wasn't! She lifted herself off of the ground and prowled closer, flapping her wings curiously but staying on the solid earth bellow her paws.

Unfortunately, she couldn't say hello back herself. but she could make the wind say it for her. Maybe. She hadn't mastered the ability yet-- in fact, she had only done it before the privacy of her own solitude, never in front of anyone else. She hoped it worked.

Opening her jaws, a flicker of yellow light seemed to flash deep her throat as she reared up, flapping her wings furiously. The wind seemed to swell around her, and abruptly, the echoing sound of Cure's own words came back to her through the shadows of the Throne.

"Hellooooo there boogz!" The wind spoke aloud for Ash, taking the pieces of words the stranger had given her. Joy filled her expression as she flopped back down, quivering from the effort-- but her tail wagged furiously.

It didn't take long for a ruffling of feathers to draw Cure's attention. Her gaze jumped towards the sound and almost instantly the creature came into view. Wings were suddenly flapping and for a moment Cure felt scared. Was this thing attacking?! Her shoulder's hunched up as she dropped her head low, making her body look smaller that it really was. With a gust of wind words fell to her ears and her curiosity brought her head swinging right back up. 'Hello there boogz!'

Almost instantly her smile returned and she pranced forward, looking the new creature over while trying to figure out who and what it was. "Hi! Do you live here too? I n'ver seen before!" She exclaimed to the creature that was now sniffing around.

She wiggled with excitement as she suddenly rolled to her back and pawed towards the creature. "You've got feathers! Like my sister!" She mewled thoughtfully as she continued to reach her legs out and paw at the creature, almost as if attempting to try and touch the new creature.

OoC: Sorry it's kind of smallish

As Ash got a better view of the azure and black creature, she knew almost immediately that this creature was the offspring of the two adults she had seen sulking about. Although most gembounds came from gems without parents, it was a surprising comfort to find another gem with a sister and... So on. She listened to the feline's mewling, her tail swishing as she tried to decide the best way to pounce-- although Cure was younger than her, she was already bigger than the fluffy brown noodle.

Of course, before beginning to play, she tried to answer with the wind once more. She knew exactly what she wanted to say, how to explain to the furry feline. Yet this time, as she opened her mouth and the spark came from the bottom of her throat, the wind between her feathers seemed to vibrate a horribly high pitch.

HHHHHHHHHHHHVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

With a silent squeal of pain, the mustelid retreated, hopping backwards in fear of what she had done. Panicked, she dropped to the ground, putting her paws over her ears. The noise seemed to fade as soon as she bit down on her magic, her feathers ruffling softly.

The brown creature continued to cower, afraid of the horrible sound she had made. She laid on the ground, her playful nature forgotten, quivering with her paws over her ringing audits.

With a tilt of her head, cure looked at the smaller creature with interest. she wasn't speaking this time and this caused Cure to roll to her side and push her ears into attention. Just as she was about to say something the smaller creature opened her jowls and the next thing she knew a terrifying screech erupted. A cry of alarm left the hybrid as she rolled up to her paws and quickly shuffled backward.

Her ears pinned back against her skull, showing her small nubs of horns just a tad better without those things in the way. Her eyes, wide in fear, watched the smaller mustilid scooted back herself and covered her ears. "Hey, uhm" She murmured as she hesitated. She seemed to have scared her ownself, so maybe she hadn't meant to do that sound?

She shuffled closer, dipping head low and by the time she came up closer to Ash she was crawling on her tummy. "You okay?" She nearly whispered as she tentatively tapped her paw against Ash's leg.

Deep in Orion, Remedy was napping. Being a hybrid was hard work. Every day, she had to learn something new about her body, its foreign parts that didn't quite match up. A part of her was jealous of her sister, Cure, for she was simpler. A leopard, by both parents. Remedy was half bird. Her organs didn't even really match right. Lungs too big, stomach unsure whether to eat bugs or meat. A beak made for both, but capable of neither well. The halfling's life would be rough, but she'd adapt quickly enough. It would simply take time. And sleep.

Sleep that could not be so rudely interrupted as it suddenly was, a horrid sound piercing her ever-waking ears and forcing her world into a bright, brilliantly harsh light as her eyes snapped open with the tone. Remedy rose to her feet, unevenly, clumsily, then whirled towards the sound in a dazed panic. She found it's source easily enough, and behind the tiny feathering rat, the bird opened her own beat and let loose a louder, harsh SQUAWKIIIIII!

"YOU WOKE ME UP, FEATHER RAT!" She grouched loudly, angry with the tiny thing. She clapped her oversized bird paws against the ground roughly in protest, premature feathers ruffled and wings arched behind her back, useless beyond for show in her youth. After a moment, she spotted Cure across from her and the intruder, and groggily, her expression turned from anger to confusion.

"Whaz all dis noise for!?" She wailed at her sister, accusingly. Surely it was her fault. This creature was probably scared of her sister's big, ugly, nap-interrupting face! Stupid sister. Always waking her up! Always being loud! Not that Remedy would so soon realize she was in fact the louder, more crude of the pair.

The feline came crawling over despite the horrible sound she had made. Unsure if she should be frightened of the other gembound for being so fearless or grateful that she hadn't scared her off, the mustelid lay still against the cool stone, orange feathers rustling along her spine.

The cat crept closer on her belly, but not like a hunter would-- more like she was trying to show she was small and unthreatening. The noodle's ears pricked as the dark gembound asked if she was okay and reached out gently to touch her leg.

Whoever this stranger was, they seemed just as nice as the others she had met in Orion so far. Namely, the horses she had met... Though the leopard didn't seem like a suitable mount. Regardless, the small show of compassion won the mustelid's heart and she nodded in reply, bringing her own paw up to her maw to chew on. She wriggled a bit closer, blinking and keeping low just as the feline had.

With her other forepaw, she reached up to gently prod at Cure's ear, tucked away beside those sharp looking azure spikes. The mustelid tilted her head quizzically, deciding it best not to try and "say" anything else with her magic. She could, after all, convey a fair amount through body language to anyone willing to decipher her.

But before Cure could begin to answer-- another creature had arrived, screeching and calling her a horrible name. She whipped around, baring her teeth at the intruder, and quickly bounded back, away from the feline-- back towards the wall, where she could climb and escape to safety. Even in her awkward, backward bounding hop, her eyes kept pinned to the creature of warning crimson and deep, dark ebony.

[ gif, abet, with less spinning ]

As her rump hit the back wall, a realization dawned on the small mustelid. The feline that was accusing her had... Had feathers! It occurred to her that this creature was the sister of the gentle, friendly Boogz cat, and... Before she could thick, she instantly opened her mouth and flapped her feathers, determined to set things straight.

The wind vibrated as the gem deep inside her throat began to resonate, and soon the words were swirling around her in a shaky echo of the two sisters' voices. "F-Feather-ers-er! Sister! F-feather n'ver rrrr!" The noise seemed to fade around her quickly, the magic still shot from her previous overwhelming attempt. She shoved her paw back into her mouth as she leaned back against the wall, ears laying back on her head.

The mustelid knew when she was outnumbered, and this stranger didn't seem to like her. If her family didn't like someone, she would be sure to come to their defense-- and she expected Cure to do the same for her sister.

Cure purred thoughtfully as Ash chewed on her paw and soon inched closer to try and reach the small nubs of gem that was tucked behind her ears. She splayed her ears out, as if to give better room for the fellow gembound more room to reach for what she was trying to get. When Ash tilted her head quizzically to the side, so too did Cure as her ears bounced right back up into attention

Cure had been so focused on the newcomer that she had not noticed the fact her sister had been awoken until the moment she had let out such an angry little squawk at them. Her head swung around to look at her before she puffed her cheeks and stuck her tongue out. Though she rolled up to her paws and padded over to her twin. With no hesitation she rubbed her side up along Remedy's with a happy little purr before she turned around and faced the winged mustelid. "She is not a rat..." She proclaimed matter-of-factually only to pause for a small moment as her thoughts began to whirl around in her head. "..Are you?" She suddenly questioned her new friend as she tilted her head curiously.

"Noise was accident...m'thinks," She hummed, answering her twin's inquiry as the gryphon turned accusing eyes towards her. The look was simply rolled off her shoulders and Cure grinned adoringly at her sibling. "Don't got'a scare her, cranky butt," She teased her twin as she gave a playful bump against her shoulder.

Her ears spun forward again as the same voice seemed to arise again. This time only seeming to grasp small parts of words and shuffling them together. They seemed familiar, almost as if she had only just moments heard them before. "ya, my sister," She nodded as she caught the word sister in the mix before she once again lowered herself to her belly and inched closer to her again. She reached her leg out, pawing towards the Mustelid with a kind smile. "Don' be scared. Won't hurt ya," She nodded as if to confirm her own words before she turned her gaze up towards the freshly woken twin. "She has wings like you do sis! Isn't that cool?"

To Remedy's morbid delight, the little feather rat suddenly bounced into the air and spun, flipping about like a fish out of water until well away from the pair. Her sour mood vanished almost instantly at the weird sounds and movements. Instead of chasing it, she moved closer to Cure, as if asserting some sort of ownership over the bigger cat. The rubbing of fur and feathers was mutual, and as she was bumped and teased, Rem merely rumbled a high-pitched growl of dismissal.

Cure seemed apt on making friends with this feather rat. Remedy decided she'd play nice. As the leopard mentioned the wings, though, Remedy took the time to look closer.

"They're in the wrong spot." She complained, as if to right an impossible wrong. "How does it fly with wings on its butt?" She stepped forward, head tilting unaturally clockwise- something only birds could do, really. "Does it hurt the rat-thing, having butt wings?" She almost sounded concerned, though clearly, the tyke was still just grumpy and tired. "What makes butt-wing-feather-rats? Can we eats it?" All innocent questions, of course. She'd eaten small creatures like this one, things Papa or Mara brought home for them, usually already dead. Once, recently, Papa even brought home a live one! He'd kept it that way to teach them how to kill prey, but Cure was too careful and Remedy too weak-jawed to break its tiny bones. He'd killed it for them in the end. She'd just been happy to eat it.

"Cure, don't touch! Mara be mad if it bites you."
