Cayenne was wandering Eridanus, walking the path she'd made by now. The grass had worn away to loamy soil with how many times she'd traveled it, and she absentmindedly picked and plucked along her way, thinking. She'd seen the snow fall start here a while ago, and she had liked it very much then; it still held it's splendor, even if the plants didn't really like it. But right now she had no eyes for its magic.
The ranch was progressing well, but she still had to practice with her magic while she was there; she was putting it off more and more as she kept finding gems around that kept getting hurt.
Seeing Bog hurt like that.....made her sick. She needed to get better quickly so that she could use that weaving spell without fear, but she had to put off practicing when she came across gems that needed her help, but she couldn't help them well until she practiced....
Round and round she went, biting her lip. There just wasn't enough time for all of this! She just wanted to be older and more skillful already, able to treat anything, but there was so much she didn't know.
She clutched a seed in her hand, and her magic sparked from her stone finger. But the turmoil inside her and the rising frustration backfired, and she felt the life ready inside the seed die.
She opened her hand and looked at it with a cry, shaking her head. No, that-that wasn't what she wanted! She felt like she just murdered a little child with her carelessness, and hot tears pricked her eyes.
Gently she lowered down to the snow-covered ground and buried it. She apologized to it, gave it a pat, then continued on her way. How foolish she still was.
