She watched Vicktor just take this, even go so far as to inflict pain upon himself, and her mouth set in a hard line. This didn't bode well. He was going to do something drastic, she just knew it, like set himself on fire with his magic and charge at the rhinos. She couldn't allow that to happen, that the fight would be over so quickly; he needed to suffer, he needed to die.

Perhaps these two children wouldn't grant him his death. He was a broken soul forged in fire, and she could admire that, especially since she had something to do with it. But she wanted something other than a quick massacre and blood and carnage. She would enjoy it, she would watch with her eyes glued, but what she preferred was a slow, tasteful suffering of everyone involved and everyone they ever knew.

So she called to her magic, hoping to mimic the sounds of the two rhinos talking to each other encouragingly elsewhere in the dark, way to the right of where they actually were; but what came out was a garbled whisper, more like stonefall than voices, and she cursed under her breath. She snuck closer to the battle, head low.

They continued to attack, fire and electricity. Adding onto the mountain of burning rage that danced across his coat; he welcomed it. Going so far as to scream out a thank you to the young rhinos. Happily accepting it all, claiming it his own with pride like a parent. Didn't they get it!? No, of course not! He had been burned and shocked to the other realm before, playing chicken with that tender and delicate line. Toying with fate, accepting it. If he were to die, if he were to leave this place. It would be on his terms. But then again, could you even kill death?

Vicktor's lungs compressed together through the surge of electricity, pushing out the hot plasma. Surging forth from his mouth. Erupting forth like a violent river. Igniting the floor below in a harsh white-hot glow. He knew she was there, watching him. Watching her 'children', so he would give her a show worthy of such cause. He would burn them to their very bones, char the very ichor that ran through that young flesh. Devour the ashes they would leave behind!

Rising up from the floor he fought through his heart's rapid beating; palpitations unrelenting as muscles threatened to lock. Lungs constricting as they once against filled up with plasma He stepped through the molten glow, allowing it to ignite and run over his bristled pelt. While his flames had caused so much damage and suffering to him in the past, they had pure intentions for him; helping him grow and survive. To flourish forth into a beautiful display of power and purpose. Unfortunately for the rhinos, this would not be their case. His flames were ravenous, furious; and they would be their screaming death.

Words rattling out from his skull, spatting the molten plasma upon the ground before him; he only smiled widely. Laughing as he would soon ignite one of them. It didn't matter to him who it was, either would be fine; both would be heavenly. His flames snaked down from his form, hissing and crackling against Polaris's surface. Slow at first, distracting; as if they would be the ones to ignite the young gembound. No, he would ignite everything, as much as he could. He would hit them eventually, certainly he would. But first he needed to know where they were. The 'snakes' slithered about, charring Polaris's floor in their wake. It wasn't until he heard that sweet pain filled scream did he scream back; entrusting his sense of direction to ignite the rhino in flames.

He saw the magma roll from the monster's lips, this absolute demon from the pit of some volcano, and deep down he knew in his heart that they couldn't win against this thing. They'd only been alive for barely more than a cycle, and had only had two fights in their lives - if it wasn't for the Goddess protecting them, they would be dead by now, and he was scared, scared out of his mind. He didn't want to die, he didn't want Fever to get hurt, but just being around this thing was like standing on the edge of a cliff, waiting for it to crumble, no matter how careful you were.

They needed to run - and Nettle saw the fire snake towards them in the dark in a slow and careful search for them, and saw that it disappeared in the dark, and he clenched his teeth down and bit his tongue till he tasted blood to keep from screaming, and he turned around and butted his sister with his nose to run, just run.

She saw the fire too, but fear kept her feet frozen to the floor. It wasn't until she felt Nettle's fear through the physical contact they had and her insistence that she run that she took her eyes off of where she thought the fire might be that she actually took off, running away from Nettle, deeper and farther away from the monster.

She had never been burned before in her short life thus far, and it wasn't until now that she was terrified of being burned. She had juggled with her fire, thrown it all around, projected it at random boulders, she had set cave rats on fire till they became nothing more than cinders, but not once did a single ember ever touch her. She had seen how much she had hurt her brother, and when she thought of that coil of fire snaking around and burning her, her mind grew blank with terror.

The monster wanted her and Nettle to suffer and burn, and she just wanted to run as far away as she possibly could.

And it wasn't until she tripped that she realized that it had her.

The fire coiled around her back hoof up her leg, and at first she couldn't feel anything but the dumb question of why she had fallen in the first place. She turned her head to look, but in the inky black, she couldn't see a thing in front of her face, and after a few seconds had passed and Nettle had caught up with her, his frantic breath right next to her, that the feeling of absence and confusion was replaced with a cold so fierce that she clenched her teeth together, and when that faded, it was replaced with a fire so hot she SCREAMED and screamed at the top of her little lungs.

She stood there, watching as Vicktor's flames snaked into her darkness that she controlled, and for a second she sneered at him, insulting him in her head. What did he hope to accomplish that way, from staying away from her shadows? She controlled every single photon in that area, and no light could ever hope to pierce it - but then, she realized that her spell was a double edged sword. Once the fire slid into her area, neither Vicktor could see it....nor the children.

And she could hear them running could hear one of them fall, could hear her sweet screams pierce the silence of the room. She shivered with pleasure once she heard the sound, forgetting herself for just one second, wanting to hear more.

Then she heard him say that sentence, that one sentence that rang out in her heart, and she brindled with unrivaled rage in her breast, her sick and twisted sea of hatred inside her screaming out for him to die. How dare the pup use her words against her, how dare he!

She manipulated the dark to flash with just a little light - of course, when the fire had grabbed that child, nothing showed, her control of the area so complete, but she faked such an occurrence all the way to the right - not too far as to be unbelievable with the source of her scream, for he was stupid, but not that stupid - and she made the image of the little rhino child caught by his flames writhing on the ground with tears in her eyes match with her screaming. Then she extinguished it, like the shadows were trying to cover her up so that the jaguar couldn't see her, like a mistake they had not wanted him to know of.

She cursed not being able to manipulate the sound of her scream - if she had succeeded with it before, the trick would be perfect, but a half chance he would choose the wrong spot was better than none at all. He might, after all, think the scream the trick she played.

Let him send his flames to the wrong spot. Let them all suffer together.

Success! His precious fire had not let him down, presumably wrapping around one of the young rhinos till she released a blood curdling scream! Music to his ears! And a sight for his senses as the shadows crawled back revealing the injured child. Vicktor wanted to rush them, to sink his fangs into their young flesh and burn their bones. But what if this was another trick!? What if the screams were a trick!? How would he know what was real!? She was here after all...The answer was; he couldn't, it was as simple as that. He knew she was here, he was familiar with her tricks. He had fallen for them before, again and again like a newborn pup. It enraged him. Not only that she would attempt such a thing again, but that he doubted himself on which sense would lead him to tasting the sweet ichor from a rhino's hide.

Thinking back he recalled something that harmed even her when she was so far away, hidden in the shadows of Canis. A sinister smile claimed his features. He would ignore the rhinos; just for a moment. For a chance to have them all scream. Yellow sparks slowly birthed from the flames, dancing among them. Preparing to unleash his sweet surprise into the atmosphere. Fur bristling as smoke billowed from his pelt. Flames tenderly biting his rough hide; he would need to finish this soon. While he was resistant to his elements; it was only to a degree. But then again; maybe he needed this, there was no better teacher than experience after all.

As the electricity disbursed through the air it left him with a loving gift. Numbing his body as it ripped from his muscles; sending a faint sensation of nothing more than tender pins and needles throughout his body; as if he was asleep. Now he could ignore everything else; focus on the battle...the slaughter...

She couldn't breathe, it hurt too much, she didn't see anything, she couldn't think of why she was even here, the only thing in her mind was the pain, the pain, the burning pain that was crawling up her leg. Nettle was screaming in her ear, but she didn't hear him, he was flickering dirt onto the fire but it wasn't helping, and before she could gain control of herself a wave of electricity that was so familiar to her rolled over to, making her screams fresh in the dark. It HURT, it hurt so much she couldn't stand it and she just wanted this to stop!

Her gem glowed, but she couldn't see it in this cursed dark that bit her with pain and made her fall, unable to even take comfort in her brother's face. All she could see was the monster advancing towards them in the dark, grinning and laughing as the fire and the burns ate away at him, and she was so afraid! In a flash of desperation, she told the fire to stop and sizzle away into a flush of smoke, and she choked on the nasty smell of burning flesh and cried out. She couldn't move, it hurt so much.
