How had this happened? A lone white dragon had wandered through a cycle ago and in the midst of a fight had loosed a stone shard he'd carelessly put in his mane. The purple shard had fallen into the lee of a rock and there had grown, undisturbed by the passing of other gembounds. Steadily it grew, larger and larger. Before long it was incredibly huge and ready to burst. Within the stone there was the flutter of life, wings unfurled and the hooves of a creature beat against the side of the tomb frantically. It might sound like panic but no, this one new that the crystal tomb was normal and that it would be freed soon. It would take patience, something that he had an enormous amount of.
The mouth opened and out of it came a force that shattered the side of the tomb. Well, that was new. His patience was rewarded as he slowly slid from the tomb. His legs were weak and splayed about in an awkward fashion. This was not new. His pink eyes opened to see the world, a familiar world, before turning down to the splayed out things below him. There were wings at his side they felt heavy with fluid as he tried to flap them, the pattern on the membrane shimmering and shifting as he did so. Strange things these were.
He looked around, eyes twinkling as he looked at this familiar and yet strange new world.
