The air was humid, the area was eerily quiet, and it was time. While the golems ceased their thundering about, disturbing the growth of a hatchling-to-be, it was time. It was painfully difficult. Nothing about wolfish nails is made to escape a shell that would make some claustrophobic. It had to roll a few feet and smack a sharp rock before it would even crack. With many more agonizingly long minutes passing by, a piece fell free and a small, shining snout poking out.
An ear piercing whine begged for freedom from the maw-sized hole now formed in the side of the brightly colored chrysalis. Paws dug at it more, barely breaking anything away as desperation began to climax. More loud whining from the opening followed by loud scraping. Freedom was so close, but so impossibly far away. So the little thing inside flailed within, trying to stir up the egg enough to cause more cracking. Small lines formed, but were still too hard to break. The pup within placed his nose back out and gave a long, high-pitched howl that had a pathetic whine to it.
