What was going around the dog was not heard, now out like a light. Nova's chest rose and fell, deep in a sleep thanks to the lemur. The poison was out of the bite, even though the affects had already taken over. She would live, but her body would be feeling this in the morning. A soft snore came from the female.

OOC: short, sleeping

@Cayenne
Once the pup was safely asleep and resting, she absentmindedly pet Nova's fur, a habit she had gained from meeting Hawthorne. It was addicting and calming for both parties, and she enjoyed it immensely, even if she would never admit it.

With a calm and rational expression on her face, she said, "I haven't had the time to think about creating an antidote, actually. I've always just had to combat its effects after all is said and done. To create one would require a lot of experimentation, if you wanted a cure without the use of magic."

She mused to herself for a while. Her expression softened, deep in thought, then tightened with a grim realization. "To test the cure, you'd need a test subject to bite."

"I can...use a spell to heal myself and only myself." She said, looking straight at Egahi. "I'd be in no danger of dying. All I'd have to do is ingest what I believe will stop the spread of the venom and use the spell to stop it from going further if it doesn't work. If you only gave me a small dose, we could test it without the full lethality of a bite." Escape the guillotine, as it were, by practicing with a knife.

She smiled bitterly. "Like when I ate poisonous mushrooms to see what their effects on the body were. You have to know at some point, to warn someone else."

It's especially useful to know when you use said knowledge of mushrooms on someone else...she pushed Vicktor out of her head. She had no room for guilt now.
@Egahi

Sensitive scales picked up on the continuous vibrations of Cayenne's speech, bring suddenly plagued by the utterly gruesome idea of allowing someone to become a test subject; including the lemur who supposedly had the ability to stay alive. Such a thing seemed absurd. It wasn't just risky, it was lethal and painful. A process of predigestion through neurotoxins for an animal that swallows it's prey whole. Oddly enough, it made the snake cringe a little, tail coiling up a bit.

"This... is not mushrooms. It is death for life." The gravity of this idea that was presented weighed on the serpent heavily by mind and emotion. It seemed like a rather dubious idea, even if the concept was wise. There certainly was no guarantee that Egahi wouldn't have another mishap, nor was their any proof that another King didn't or wouldn't exist.

Cayenne flashed a wider grin, her eyes haunted, her smile hollow. "It's not as if I haven't done this sort of thing before."

Truly though, the idea terrified her. Egahi was right, this wasn't mushrooms, where purging them was enough - ingesting or being bitten with venom was something that seeped into the blood and was enough to kill in minutes. If the snake misjudged the amount they gave her of their poison, her life would be over.

But if she pulled through this and they found the cure, she would be able to save a life even if her magic failed her. And so would Egahi, if their motives were pure. The risk was enough for Cayenne. What else did she have to life for but to try and help others? This was her only purpose, and if she was remembered as someone who died trying to save....that was all she could ask for, for someone to cry over her ugly-as-sin corpse.

"Let's leave Nova to sleep in peace, and I'll look for the first thing to try as a remedy." She said calmly. "If you would help me in this...I'd appreciate it, Egahi."

@Egahi
The serpent remained unconvinced as Cayenne gave a tense reminder that she'd poisoned herself before. She turned away, looking to something else because the rage was too risky. It had proven as such, anyway. She tried to imagine someone dying in some futile experiment. It seemed fruitless, but Cayenne apparently had different ideas about it all.

"I..." She started and faded, but not as she did usually. This time, it was the fatal idea that distracted her. "This is... mad. But if you truly... think it is worth the... risk..."

The Scorpion Queen stole one more glance at Cayenne, then slid away, silently agreeing to leave the canine with no desire to stick around any longer. This mammal is full of heart and suicidal tendencies, it seems. Imperfect. The snake figured she'd have to try to tone back how much Cayenne get, lest she actually accidentally kill herself with this absurd notion.

"I do." Cayenne said it before she gave too much thought about it. She needed to jump without looking this time, to be brave enough to test uncertain waters for what it might promise.

"If you would be so kind...let's let Nova sleep." She turned away from the even breathing of the pup and walked towards her favorite grove of white flowers, the one that gave a sweet scent that encouraged sleepiness.

Together they would find the cure...or Cayenne would die trying.
