The darkness didn't affect Kin-Kin that much; if anything, it only made her feel more proud. The darkness made her light look brighter than ever before. Colours, she found, were more vibrant than ever before, and she stood out like a sore thumb in the ruins of Orion, easily able to navigate by the glow that she emitted. Before now, she'd pulled on magic so much to bring light to her fur that now it was here to stay; a soft glow was always pouring off her fur, and now she had to cast to put it out instead. She didn't complain about it, though. It was like a badge of honour, ever-present and ever representative of just how much she'd grown.

As she wandered, her claws clicked gently on the stone floors, so old and worn yet familiar beneath her paws. She'd trod this path so many times now that it was getting stale, yet never had she seen the crystals reflecting only her light before.

Her light was just about the only light she saw these days, and that was just the way she liked it. Drew more gembounds to her, as well. This darkness was exactly what she needed, right at that moment in her life where she seemed to lose sight of exactly what she stood for. Her own freedom.

so quiet, silence had seemed to have overtaken the whole cave ever since the lights had turned off and it made sense considering it was when the bad boys came out to play and the weak hid in fear of their lives. in a place with no kind of law or order to direct others towards the right path, the only thing stopping gembounds from doing whatever they so wished was the guilt of knowing it was wrong. as he would dwell deeper in thought, a forced and exasperated sigh would make its way out of his mouth, fuck this cave. quintus's frame would tense up, the irritation was evident in the way his tail began to lash about as if it had a mind of its own. he would then begin to grow paranoid, his blue eyes looking about his surroundings as if he was expecting something or someone to come for him. even he feared for his life despite his predatory nature, what rational being didn't. it was then that the glow coming from kin-kin would be noticed, without haste quintus would cast his own magic, his eyes not being enough to identify the figure of the stranger. using the night vision spell, the figure of the wolf would become much clearer. quintus would instantly be drawn to her, or at least that tattered piece of blue fabric on her back. jumping down from his elevated position, he would slowly approach the fellow gembound with a charming smile on his face, "hello there."

Kin-Kin's ears pricked as she came to the sudden realization that she wasn't alone and looked around, only for a shape to land in her path ahead of her. It was a feline, shrouded in the shadow just at the borders of her light, and as the wolf moved forward she could see that it was a lion- a large creature far taller than she was. But she'd encountered far more terrifying creatures in her time. Recently, especially. As she approached, the wolf's ears flicked curiously, her eyes becoming half-lidded with confidence even despite the well-muscled creature in her path.

"Well, hello there," she replied in turn, her gaze scanning the creature curiously. She very much liked the look of them... their step was proud, and their gait confident. They'd cut off her path seemingly out of nowhere, and Kin-Kin wondered if she'd be able to... perhaps, toy with them. "The name's Kin-Kin... Magical Champion and Demigod of Light. Don't you just cut a dashing figure, hmm?"

Her lip twinged into a playful smile and her brows twitched. She wondered if they'd buy her new 'demigod' title, or if she'd have to... prove it.

as soon as she would speak her first words, the smile on his face would appear to stretch even wider. quintus was a social individual, he enjoyed partaking in conversation with others and it seemed that the gembound before him was similar in that regard. he took note of her wandering eyes, she's checking me out. gracefully bending to sit on his haunches, he would attempt at an even more regal look, the sheer amount of confidence he had evident in the way he simply held himself. he was more than sure that the canine would like what she saw and it seemed that he was right in his assumption considering the compliment she would give him. "you think so?" quintus would proceed to check himself out to the best of his ability, of course she does, after all his mother would always tell him so and she happened to be much more comely than this stranger. just as he was about to ask about the fabric she had on her back, he would remember that she had given him her name and titles before complimenting him. "interesting, tell me more." the first title would peak at his interest but he would completely disregard the other one for they were all the creations of HE who must not be named, she wasn't telling him anything that he already knew. then again, the idea of being the offspring of a divine being was most likely beyond her ken, to his knowledge only he and bartos was aware of the fates. quintus would remind himself of the various other beliefs the misguided children of origin cave had created using their imagination such as the all mother. he would then begin to wonder if there was any gembounds that still believed in the idea of a sentient mushroom.

Kin-Kin grinned at their response, following their gaze down to themselves and watching as they adopted a regal posture. Her fangs bared, she grinned broadly. "Of course!" she drawled. "...Almost as dashing as me. But I bet you get that all the time, huh?" she flicked her tail from side to side, a playful spark in her eye. This regal creature was the first she'd had the chance to truly toy with for quite some time. Of course, goading gemlings had its charm but fully grown Gembounds were all the more pleasurable, because they could generally respond with more intelligence. So gaining their admiration was all the more rewarding.

"Heh, heh... I earned this, I can tell you that much. It's taken me blood, sweat and tears to earn this. And it shows, doesn't it? It's been a tough road... and-... Well, I could tell you more, but I bet you'd much rather see exactly how I got this title, hmmm?" Kin-Kin asked playfully, twitching her ears towards the lion. "But first, how about you tell me about yourself? You've heard exactly what I stand for- myself, of course- so how about you give me a little more to go on?"

She'd not even heard their name yet! Best get that out of the way before she subjected introduced them to what made her so special. And if they didn't... well, they weren't the only one who could play hard to get.

almost as dashing as you? his brows would quirk upwards in slight surprise at the sheer amount of vanity the stranger spoke with. quintus found it rather uncouth but then again he also happened to be quire the narcissist, so he could understand celebrating one's self. this one likes to play, meeting with such an rambunctious individual after having suffered so many cycles of silence was rewarding. her voice was music to his ears. the wolf would go on to talk about just how arduous it was to gain the honorifics she donned, promising to enlighten him only after introducing himself. quintus would take a moment to think of a title just as grandiose as hers in an effort to perhaps vex her, and within mere seconds he would decide. "quintus is the name, the land you stand on and the air you breath in happen to be mine," a smile of mischief would appear on his face for a split second only to then be replaced with quite the grim look. slowly turning towards the expanse of the room, he would continue to talk, "welcome to hismy domain." satisfied with the dramatic flair he had made sure to set up, he would turn back towards kin-kin with what now looked like a frown on his face. "or at least what remains of it," quintus had always wondered who the previous inhabitants of the room was and what exactly it looked like before this, he would allow the wolf figure that out for herself by letting her imagination run wild before putting a stop the silence once more. "now we're acquainted," and scene!

Kin-Kin smirked slightly at their words, seeming merely intrigued by their remark. How quaint, that they thought they could outdo her. "Well then, I hope ya don't mind that I've made it my oyster. Heh-heh-heh..." the she-wolf chuckled in amusement. The mischievous smile on their face said it all, and Kin-Kin couldn't help but feel excited, a seed of mischief growing in her belly. "...Remind me, can ya see your domain in this here darkness? Oh... right! You can. Because of my light. You're welcome!" she bowed her head in acknowledgement of gratitude that didn't exist.

Their next words intrigued her, however. "This here city's always been a dump. Don't worry though; as a demigod of light, it's my job to get critters crawling back." Kin-Kin raised a paw to examine her claws for a moment before placing her paw back on the ground, tail swishing high above her back. Her eyes half-lidded with cool confidence, her gaze returned to the lion, her fangs slightly bared in a wolfish smirk. Were they out to do the same? She had to wonder.

"Hm? Oh, yes. I suppose we are. You're a lucky one, ain't you?"
