in the spire, crystals that stood silently glimmered and glowed with their luminous and pale blue light. The sound of running water from the other parts could be heard, but it was rather faint to any hearer without a sense of diligent focus. The cave ceiling was up high, out of reach and out of sight, though it was gently illuminated from the standing crystals who reached as tall as 10 meters from the ground. It was calm and it was peaceful. No voices were heard in the spire, along with no footfalls. The spire was almost silent except for the quiet hum of water nearby.
on the ground near a large crystal pillar lay what looked to be a strangely shaped rock formation. It was not very large, though it was longer than most. what was even more perplexing about the formation was that it was moving . it continued to move and stretch, sounds began to bounce off the silent walls as the chrysalis shook itself and wobbled as if it was a new baby trying to stand up. finally, a large crack! was heard, followed by another, then a pop! a wing? no, two wings! rather than covered in feathers, the wings were leathery, covered in rather disgusting looking goop. the body moved around more and more, faster and faster until finally--! it split open completely.
from the chrysalis stood a wobbly black flying fox with closed eyes. it landed with a plop against the cold floor, its' legs slowly pushing it away from the shell it came from. the bat, slowly feeling its' surroundings, opened its eyes slowly, revealing ground up dirt colored eyes with minuscule pupils. it emitted a low noise, a small screech of confusion and shock. where was it? it seemed to know that its' location was a poor choice and decided to get up, though it was still weak on its' legs. the flying fox opened its' wings, extending them to their greatest extent with another shriek. before it decided to take off, the fox looked back to its' hollow shell, where it had lived for what felt to be forever. it turned around, nuzzling it with its' nose before seeing something so faint, it was almost indistinguishable. it looked to be a white stone, then something came over it. it seemed to be the end of that memory, though the fox didn't understand why it had received such a video within its head.
the fox was perplexed, its' head tilted to the side as it touched the shell once more, receiving the same image in its's head again. what did it mean? it did not know that the image represented its' time before it awoke from the shell, the time where its' stone became infused with magic. unknowingly, the fox looked down at its body and was surprised to see a white stone on its' chest. the spire, though well lit, didn't reflect the stone at the best angle, therefore stripping it of its' beautiful shine. with one wing, the fox wiped the stone gently before looking up towards the ceiling. from above, something caught its' eye. something to hang on. as if it were its instincts, the fox leaped in the air, beating its wings as if it knew what to do, and flew towards the unknown item. turns out, it was a rather thick vine, thick enough to hold onto and support its weight.
the bat grabbed onto the vine, slowly swinging to become upside down while wrapping its wings around its body. it blinked softly, yawning before examining the spire with curious eyes. the room was quite large when compared to the small size of the flying fox, even the crystals stood taller than the fox. from the top of the ceiling, the fox was silent, wondering if it should go and explore or stay put.
