in the spire, crystals that stood silently glimmered and glowed with their luminous and pale blue light. The sound of running water from the other parts could be heard, but it was rather faint to any hearer without a sense of diligent focus. The cave ceiling was up high, out of reach and out of sight, though it was gently illuminated from the standing crystals who reached as tall as 10 meters from the ground. It was calm and it was peaceful. No voices were heard in the spire, along with no footfalls. The spire was almost silent except for the quiet hum of water nearby.

on the ground near a large crystal pillar lay what looked to be a strangely shaped rock formation. It was not very large, though it was longer than most. what was even more perplexing about the formation was that it was moving . it continued to move and stretch, sounds began to bounce off the silent walls as the chrysalis shook itself and wobbled as if it was a new baby trying to stand up. finally, a large crack! was heard, followed by another, then a pop! a wing? no, two wings! rather than covered in feathers, the wings were leathery, covered in rather disgusting looking goop. the body moved around more and more, faster and faster until finally--! it split open completely.

from the chrysalis stood a wobbly black flying fox with closed eyes. it landed with a plop against the cold floor, its' legs slowly pushing it away from the shell it came from. the bat, slowly feeling its' surroundings, opened its eyes slowly, revealing ground up dirt colored eyes with minuscule pupils. it emitted a low noise, a small screech of confusion and shock. where was it? it seemed to know that its' location was a poor choice and decided to get up, though it was still weak on its' legs. the flying fox opened its' wings, extending them to their greatest extent with another shriek. before it decided to take off, the fox looked back to its' hollow shell, where it had lived for what felt to be forever. it turned around, nuzzling it with its' nose before seeing something so faint, it was almost indistinguishable. it looked to be a white stone, then something came over it. it seemed to be the end of that memory, though the fox didn't understand why it had received such a video within its head.

the fox was perplexed, its' head tilted to the side as it touched the shell once more, receiving the same image in its's head again. what did it mean? it did not know that the image represented its' time before it awoke from the shell, the time where its' stone became infused with magic. unknowingly, the fox looked down at its body and was surprised to see a white stone on its' chest. the spire, though well lit, didn't reflect the stone at the best angle, therefore stripping it of its' beautiful shine. with one wing, the fox wiped the stone gently before looking up towards the ceiling. from above, something caught its' eye. something to hang on. as if it were its instincts, the fox leaped in the air, beating its wings as if it knew what to do, and flew towards the unknown item. turns out, it was a rather thick vine, thick enough to hold onto and support its weight.

the bat grabbed onto the vine, slowly swinging to become upside down while wrapping its wings around its body. it blinked softly, yawning before examining the spire with curious eyes. the room was quite large when compared to the small size of the flying fox, even the crystals stood taller than the fox. from the top of the ceiling, the fox was silent, wondering if it should go and explore or stay put.

As much as little form enjoyed hanging about a place filled with familiar faces and the warming feel safety surely gave, he could not slink about the room of Eridanus any longer. It was time for another journey, one with a goal in which would leave him satisfied for the time taken off for it. Passing through the tunnel that connected Pisces with the room he sought to abandon for the time being, he entered room of origin, immediately trotting toward an opening he had not wandered in since self had met those three peculiar gembounds. It was an encounter that left him a bit shaken up, but he would not let the old memory halt him from exploring deeper into the passage. The pup never got to see where it led so, now was the time to give the area a scan and the room that would surely appear at the end of it. Inhaling the humid air, the canine went on his merry way to the next quadrant of this cave.

After an hour or two had waltzed by, Kyorai finally reached the end of the chilly passage and stood at the entrance with an intent look. What multi-hued eyes could see was a room scattered with crystals that carried enough radiance to give this place somewhat of a light source. He viewed around in astonishment, sauntering close to one of the standing crystals. So, this is what he was missing out on! Such mineral held a nice wear, picking up paw to touch the large crystal. Although before he could check on the others, a sound waved by his ears, having him halt his enjoyment to whatever may be creeping about. The noise seemed to be one in which would emit from something that has broken. He wondered if one of the crystals here had given out and took to the floor which urged him to go investigate. Thoughts were interested in taking something out of this room so, now could likely be the chance!

Speed was at a steady rate, form maneuvering about the many objects that were present and about. Mind continuously repeated the sound within head in hopes it would assist in guiding him to where it initially came from. He slowed his pace once he got to a certain section of this area, peering around to see if anything was eye catching. There certainly stood one thing that caught attention; tall and surging off an unknown power in which brought him wariness topped in curiosity. Closing in on the pillar, the pup noticed an object that was out of place. A stone, shattered and dispersed. He walked near one of the many pieces about this spot, giving it a sniff to see if it held any scent. A hum then sounded from him, examining everything around, seeking something particular. Canceling out any insignificant sounds, if there were any to begin with, the pup attempted to pick out a noise separate and unique.

Head hung low with ears up high. It was silent for a minute or so before a faint beat could be heard. The canine put his sight on the ceiling, looking to see if anything were upon it. The small heartbeat was seemingly coming from up there, tempting the pup to follow where it was until he felt it was right above him. There was someone else here besides him and hearing only proved it further. Squinting, he was not sure whether what he perceived was just a rock or an actual creature. "Hey! Hey? Is someone up there?" He barked and questioned, tilting head and watching the vine he just noticed.

The fox hung above from the ceiling on its vine, enjoying being off the ground in a vulnerable state. It didn't utter a word, mostly because it was not sure if it could even speak. Though it felt happy that there was no need to speak, someone would sooner or later come in and at least notice her (if they had good enough senses). Surprisingly, the gembound that came in did have the heightened sense to find her. Its' eyes were shut for the time being when there was no company, but now, they were wide open and staring down at the canine below, almost piercing into their very soul. At first, the fox said nothing and did nothing, hoping the canine would just leave. But from the look of it, he didn't have any intent on leaving so soon.

With a quiet and almost shaky breath, the fox let out a small shriek noise, not as loud and scare, but rather a way of her communicating her presence. On the tip of her tongue, she was trying to form words that could possibly add some assistance to her situation. Her mouth moved as if she was talking but no sound was falling from her lips. She worked her mouth continuously trying to think of words that had actual meaning. Though only a month old, the fox understood what he was saying, but simply was having a hard time in recreating the words.

The fox was afraid, its' heartbeat quickened rapidly as it began to almost shake. Was this canine going to try and eat her? Would it try to jump and snatch her up in one bite? It wasn't sure. Instead of flying down (which was suicide to it), the fox stayed put but managed to finally squeak out some words. "What do you want?" It asked in a nervous, shaky voice since it was too scared to fly down and meet the other gembound face to face. it stayed put, wrapped up in its' wings as if they were warm blankets.

Ah, so hearing and sight were not playing tricks upon the pup. Rump met the ground while holding eye contact with the creature above. The more he looked at them, thoughts would be reminded of the little stranger that was resting on a lizard friend. Perhaps they were the same thing? Though one was surely fluffier than the other. Bringing his attention back into reality, brow rose when he saw weird movements from the winged one. He wondered what they were trying to pull off, if anything. Before uttering out a few words, voice fell flat when a small shriek came along and caught him off guard. Poor ears could not catch a break. Shaking his head and flattening ears to protect them from anymore sudden cries, he would watch little being do whatever task it was putting forth.

It seemed they were cautious about the small male which was definitely understandable. Though he would not know what was threatening about a fluffy, flashy pup, but he had some ideas. Getting back onto all fours, he began picking up some of the bat's stone pieces and piling them near where they originally were. Maw grabbed one that was about the length of his leg, moving it about as if trying to slash the air. While off in his own world, awareness immediately snapped back when he finally heard something come from them. Tail resumed with its wagging with shard being placed down for the moment. They asked what he had wanted and to come along was an answer unexpected. "Your head." He simply said, putting on a serious face only to fail a second after, chuckling and emitting a humored sigh. It was probably a bad idea to say such a thing to one on the edge, but they had no reason to worry in all honesty. "Bah, that was terrible. Have you any idea what you are?" He inquired, tilting head with a small smile. Mind wanted to know what one would call creatures in which looked like them, not finding pleasure in conjuring his own calling for the winged beings. Taking the shard he had previously, he placed it in the pile he created, peering back at the gemling above.

"Ooh, do you have a name? Mine's Kyorai! Also, would you say these are all yours?"

He gave out a few more questions, gesturing stone pile to see if they would assert their claim for it.

@Kyorai

he answered with a response that made the fox bury its head within its wings, trying to cover itself in fear from the "beast" down below. it remained locked in the shaking position for only a little bit of time before it could hear his laughter from below. the poor fox nearly peed itself it was so scared! it pinned its ears at the canine with its frightful joke, snorting a bit. she thought about something to say back but came up with nothing. instead, she listened to him talk, her head tilted at his question. What exactly was she? the fox looked at herself for a moment, admiring her leathery wings and somewhat long lengthed body and her ability to hang from the ceiling with ease.

She gave a "hmm" sound before she was able to conclude what she was. for an unknown reason, she knew what she was, as if it was ingrained into her head. the fox looked down, swallowing before answering. "a bat, flying fox, if you will," she spoke to him gently, though the name sounded quite weird to her. since when was a bat called a flying fox? when did foxes fly? she wasn't aware that her head resembled the head of a fox just yet, mostly because she hadn't the chance to look at herself in the reflection of a mirror or water. her ears twitched at his next question. What was her name and did the pile below belong to her?

the gemling took a moment to assess everything. They didn't have a name, no one had given her a name. nothing came to mind and they couldn't just be simply called a bat or it. the fox gave itself a thoughtful look before coming up with a name, a full one that sounded a bit rudimentary and almost like a jumbled word. "Zhi" she said, pronouncing it as "zuh". It was not very elegant, but she had a feeling the meaning behind it was somewhat special. Zhi, they liked the name. Before they could mess with the name on their tongue longer, the other gemling below, Kyorai, was awaiting her answer on the pile. Zhi nodded their head. "yes, I was inside there." It was a weird sentence to say, but perhaps that is how gembounds came to be, from the stones themselves.

Though Zhi was unsure about Kyorai still, they wanted to at least come a bit closer (though still out of reach) to examine their shell and company better. with that, Zhi released from the vine, unraveled their wings, and began a slow descent. From above, there were many places for it to stay and hide and latch onto. A tall crystal, one that was the tallest within the spire, caught their eye. It did not look too sharp from her point of view, thus making it their target. they beat their wings as if they knew how to fly like an expert, landing atop the crystal with ease and latching onto it. Though they didn't hang upside down, the way they latched onto it looked a bit--odd. however, if it kept them safe, then it kept them safe. "Did you come from one too?" She asked him with curiosity in her meek voice, large brown eyes examining his body and face.

With shards of stone now cleared from the cave floor around, he seated himself next to the swept pieces, admiring how well they all looked. A sneaking of one would need to be done later on, mind could not plainly leave them to their own destiny. Even if he were distracting himself once more, the canine was just waiting for an answer from the one near ceiling. Perhaps they were not sure considering the amount of time it was taking them. It would not be a surprise, knowing how young they were to this cave. However, doubts were pushed aside when they spoke forward. Hm, a flying fox is what they were; though it was a strange thing to hear as he knew the wear of a true fox. Such animal had no wings nor could fly all together. The pup had yet to witness a genuine fox before him, but it did not take much of any thought to perceive the wrong from the right. Snorting with an amused look upon face, he guessed "bat" would be the way to go when stating them in general.

A sneeze escaped from him, lightly shivering from the surge in which came from it. When noting the atmosphere of the area, the energy it gave off made the male more restless than usual. Rearranging pile, large ears perked when a name had been placed on by the bat itself. "Such a strange name," the pup would tell, although he found everyone's name foreign to tongue so, it was not anything big to fall onto.

Self went on to hum when told this was indeed theirs, however, the way they worded it made paws retrieve from their doings and rub themselves on each other's legs. He seemed to have forgotten how gembounds came around, staring at the stone and pile with a hint of displeasure. Soon after, he turned his attention away with an expression in which told of disappointment. No matter. He would find a way to get pass the displeasing thought and reel one with him later. Until then, Kyorai watched company abandon vine and glide over to a new part of the room. There was an urge to try and capture the winged creature while they were in flight, however, there was no way little form could leap that high. Instead, he suppressed said urge, wincing when he saw that they were to land on the tallest crystal. It appeared the action was unnecessary as Zhi stood fine with being clinged to the pillar, finding it weird that the power it had did not zap the bat. Curious, he walked closer to a crystal and leaned body onto it. Seconds later he shook out his coat, staring at crystal with a confused face. It did not do anything noteworthy, just making the pup more alert than usual.

Sight returned onto Zhi, mind secretly trying to figure out how to get them down here. Before sorting through options, a question sounded from them, quickly nodding his head to confirm his own origin from a stone—two in fact. "Of course! Everyone within this cave has at least came from one! I've never heard of someone appearing in a different way," he told, viewing off into the distance to figure whether such thing could even happen. There was only so much he saw and heard, but he was certain it was the truth. Giving sight back to company, he rose a brow as if expecting something.

"How come you guys are always on something? There's nothing scary about the ground!"

"Strange to you only, your name is strange too, Kyorai," they mused from atop the pillar, watching him carefully with brown and large eyes. Something about this one made it feel.... what was it? Concerned, of course, she felt concerned and nervous around him, especially his joke that would be forever frightful. But they felt something else with him, happy maybe, even curious? Emotions and feelings were weird, perhaps they could deal with them later. Zhi heard him answer the other question. All creatures came from such stones?

"We all come from stone? A strange way..." Zhi quietly said, looking off towards the shard pile and the pillar they were on. How was it possible? The fox didn't know, but for now, questioning reality could come later. They turned their attention to the company, ears perking at the question. Zhi gave Kyo a questioning look, almost furrowing its' brow. Did he not notice the size difference between the two?

"It may seem fine to you, but something small like me is in danger there." They feared to be on the ground since it made them vulnerable to any attackers who were much bigger than her. Zhi didn't know what could come after them if they were on the ground. "You can defend yourself, you see? I cannot. I weigh perhaps a small portion of you," she said to him, fear lacing itself into their voice. Kyo had a much better chance at defending himself while Zhi could not. Their best chance at surviving is flying and running, or perhaps talking their way out of the conflict. "The ground is suicide to a bat."

The canine chuckled when they told his name was weird as well, knowing its origins were just slamming different parts together and calling it his. He nodded at the mention of emerging from stone, raising a brow when they deemed that strange also. When one thought deep about it, it surely was; however, what other thing could one compare it to in completely stating it was stranger? Shaking his head, he would think toward something else for the time being.

When the bat gave its reasoning as to why they avoided the ground, Kyorai put on a look of disbelief, shaking his head again when hearing that he himself could defend for self. Tiny maw, teeth, and claws; he could do no more than a little scratch compared to any other he has met fully. Walking about the base of the pillar, he began searching for anything that could likely assist in bringing him to the top. "Nonsense. I'm just as defenseless as you are! There is no excuse," stating such—when thinking about it and the large creatures the pup has encountered, fear was not a viable answer to him. Though with a mind set to deny any certainty of mishaps, it would never be a thing he could understand.

Examining a slanted crystal, he hopped onto it and sung a note as he tried to figure out where to leap next. He then snorted when told what the floor was like for a bat, finding it quite silly. "An extreme way of saying it. Explain to me what would happen if you touched it right now," he sought for a list of misfortunes, jumping over onto another crystal which stance was a lot straighter. There was not much he could see in helping him get to the top but he would figure a way sooner or later.

he was quick to reply to their statement, making Zhi laugh nervously. Zhi was still smaller than him, besides, he had the ability to attempt to stand his ground. The fox could hardly stand on the ground, to begin with. "You were meant for the ground, I was meant to stay up there," Zhi said, pointing a wing towards the ceiling while they were atop the pillar of safety. "It's not an excuse, it's a fact!" However, Zhi took a special note of Kyo's behavior. the way he was walking around and moving, Zhi had a feeling that it wasn't just for nothing. He was looking for a way to get up.

Zhi swallowed softly, licking their lips in an unsure manner. what if they did go on the ground? what could happen? "Another animal could come and eat me in one bite, kill me with one stomp. A gust of wind could blow me away. Germs could kill me off. So many things could happen, I don't need to go on!" Zhi exclaimed to him, seeing grow nearer and nearer. Though, the crystals that he could not jump on were closer to Zhi, making Kyo'a path much harder. Zhi took a breath of relief, Kyo couldn't catch her quite yet.

"Speaking of things that could get me on the ground, I can see you're trying to get up here." Zhi looked at Kyo with her wide eyes, as if she was staring into his heart, his very being. As she looked at him, however, something caught her eye. Something on his neck that sparkled and glimmered. "Say, what's the rock on your chest? A necklace?" she asked, hoping to at least somewhat distract him from finding a way up to the winged fox.

Head shook in response of them stating it was a fact not an excuse. It was an excuse! If anything had limbs to help them move about then they could move across the ground, awkwardly or not. He huffed with a stomp of his paw, looking around the crystal as form was currently seeking the next jump spot. Gaze caught a large shard extending out from the pillar, turning and readying himself for another leap. Though before he could kick off, he halted his current doings to peer up at the bat in which explained what could happen. So... that could happen to him as well. He was the size a pineapple, most everything could be the end to him at this very moment. Sounding off his disbelief, he leaped over to his next perch, continuing his ascend slowly. "You're... overthinking things. Germs will always be around on the ground or not. Now you're just coming up with terrible reasons!" he told, gazing back at them with a raised brow. The first few he could pass as legitimate, but the wind and germs was going way out there. Realizing he was in a spot in which limited mobility to other parts, he went back to previous crystal, reworking his path.

Kyorai emitted a huff when they pointed out that he was trying to get to them. Well, yes, one of his nature would not simply sit on the ground and stare at their company above. No, that required staying still and the pup was not up for sitting still. Ears perked and head angled when they told of a rock upon his chest. Did they mean his stone which was right where skull and neck met? He gave a look of confusion, silently blaming their distance that could have led to the appearance of something on his chest. "What? It's my stone, what necklace do you speak of?" he questioned, narrowing eyes in trying to figure out what they were talking about; though he was focusing on where they rested, thoughts churning about as he pondered more and more on how to get them down.

A feeling gradually worked its way into his throat, angling head down to rest it on gemstone. After a few seconds or so, a gust of wind came around and shot for the bat above. The male stopped his thinking when the sensation of wind passed by him, making him lose balance off of the crystal he stood on. Limbs took most of the force from the fall, rump immediately meeting the ground as self winced at the short aching of his legs.
